🎼 Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead.

New feuds, new fun!   Best part of the first week after a big PPV is seeing where your favorite fed takes its characters next...

#justiceforStokely

🎶 Well, the years start comin' and they don't stop comin'. Fed to the rules and I hit the ground runnin'. Didn't make sense not to live for fun; your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb.

At some point, we need to acknowledge something that's been happening recently in pro wrestling for the fucking grossness of it.

STOP GETTING CUPPING TREATMENTS THE DAY OF YOUR MATCH WRESTLERS.   JFC.  I can't look at anything else!

🎵 So much to do, so much to see. so what's wrong with taking the backstreets? You'll never know if you don't go! You'll never shine if you don't glow!

THIS WEEK!  We're still in the BALLROOM OF BLOOD~~

All this and more!

(At one point during the pandemic, my friends and I were stoned and listening to music and "Walking On The Sun" came on. Baked off my gourd I thought, wait is this song secretly very, very smart?   I was disabused of that thought a few weeks later when Steve Harwell opened his mouth about... a lot of stuff.  RIP.)

Enjoy your week!  Go be an all star!

I think there's a good chance that between radio, movies, and TV that All Star is the song I've heard the most times in my life.

That first Smash Mouth cd isn't bad. The one with "All Star" is like the ultimate mini-van cd. And of course, "Shrek" is a top tier franchise that will never have another film, especially not one that has a really terrible looking trailer.

Looking forward to Toni/Billie. And just want to issue a preemptive "R.I.P. In Peace" to Wheeler. I love watching him get fucked up.

Isn't that kind of KOR's thing? One of his things. He always does it and it looks so gross and weird. The last person I remember doing that shit is CM Punk.

Things I Remember From This Week's Edition of AEW Dynamite:

Hangman beats Yuta quick

Bald on bald violence with FTR and the Hurt Syndicate

Nick Wayne and Kip and Nick Wayne's Mom cut a promo

Moxley wants a rematch because he will never go away

Will Ospreay is going to a doctor who will fix his neck in a month (Dr. Jho?)

Billie and Athena chaos as they cant cash in whatever we call Money In The Bank in this promotion

MJF getting into it with Lashley

Don Callis tries to speak Spanish

A DQ finish in a match as Swerve and Okada are feuding

MJF using MJF cheap heat on Mark Briscoe

Mark Briscoe actually wins a match and disappears into the ether postmatch

Hangman vs Moxley next week

Dynamite 7/23

Spoiler

- I missed all but the very end of the Yuter match but got to see the bloodening, so, very happy I sat down after dinner and actually remembered for a change to turn to TBS. Ex says he got left "high and dry" but that was FAR from dry. Kudos as well for the DTs shaking hand out of shock or fear from the attack there.

- Billie calling Toni a "musty-ass ho" gave me a good laugh

- Looks liiiike we goooot a touuuuuur-na-meeeeeent... This was just as fantastic as expected from pretty much any Heel FTR match. Jetspeed are on fire too so they got some great playmates. At one point Taz says "you could hear that chop in Champaign" and Ex says "Crickets." BOOOOOOOOO. I heard it... 😞 Having the shine during the break during FTR tag is different... then they immediately go into heat. Dax taunts a little kid which is great. Speedball looked like he got him in the crotch with a kick; his shooting star was a LONG way away, plus the CRAZY moonsault that flew right behind both FTR but hit Cash with the elbow thus allowing them some semblance of reason to fall over. Those are notes I took because there was so much going on here. Banana peel finish to allow Jetspeed to look good in defeat.

- Stoke has enormous heat which is great to see. Bonus points for saying to "turn off that stupid music". "We hurt people" being chanted to in actual slightly off time to the music is pretty talented for a big crowd. Of course, they finally turn on MJF, glad they didn't push that one any longer than it deserved. Did Cena do Bobby's pose on the Peacemaker commercial?

- The Starkz match was okay, she's still got a ways to go to get out of Emma-ville as far as 'goofy character who ends up being a solid wrestler'. Toni's crotch-thrusting with the count when she had Billy in the Fisherman's suplex bridge pin was subtle, but hilarious if you caught it; go back and look again if you didn't. Also, wearing the cocktail dress was perfect. I was thinking "what is she wearing, that rules" and Taz immediately pipes up with what it is, haha.

- As much as they hate Callis and as many Mexicans were probably in the audience, he didn't quite get the heat he could have. Hechicero didn't either. Match felt pretty flat though the work was crisp and complicated enough to look cool. Hechicero's supposed to get booing and not ooos and ahhs, though he deserved both he got neither really. Swerve is just riding too high as a cool heel. If you put him up against any but the tippy top it just isn't gonna fully work. I am fully behind Hechicero/Bandido though and think Hech could be a great ROH champ and they could trade the belt around a couple times.

- At this point I realized, you know, this show has a really smooth flow between segments and segues combining angles and what's coming next. Tony is outdoing himself.

- Max started dipping his toe into talking about Jay and I literally said "don't do it...". Mark's reaction... wasn't as strong as it could have been. It'll be nice if there's a backstage segment where he jumps him for what he said tonight. Anyway, him and Claudio went on to have a fine match with a particularly cool run after Mark jumped up on the announce table. Claudio ate some shots too. Post-match was fine with Mox's face looking like a person who'd been tricked or insulted and knew they just had to take it.

This was your "angle advancement" show that ends up having smaller matches that are really good, and it was a pretty perfect version of that. If the tag tourney ends up anywhere near the standard of THAT match then shit, we're in for a stellar one. Also, goddamn I love the Aragon Ballroom! How cool is that place?!

Got my motherfuckin' tickets. 4th row, camera side (I think?). Looking forward to going to the Aragon again since it has been years since I was last there, although I was just at another theater (the Riviera) just down the street on Sunday for a Silversun Pickups concert.

The only thing that sucks and as much as I love Chicago it's my biggest complaint about the city, but finding a car charger sucks. For a city as big as it is you've got a parking garage at a Whole Foods where only 2 out of 4 chargers work, chargers way the fuck away by Wrigley Field or at Navy Pier, and a couple at the Masonic Temple. And that's like it. I mean, I'm in a city with a population of $200k and you can't throw a stone without hitting a bay of public car chargers. It sucks balls. Oh, and the chargers they do have all have a 2 hour max time and I believe after that you can be towed. Usually it's 2 hours max and then the charging station starts charging you extra. Oh well. Small price to pay to see my boy Hanger and Moxley do it one more time and for the last show of the residency.

I thought John Moxley would have taken time off to sell what losing the AEW World Championship and what he went through in the Texas Death Match but he hadn't done.

The Ospreay promo was excellent. An injury not kept secret (as per the company's usual), but rather used as motivation for the wrestler is a great simple story. Not that it always needs to be exactly this route, but injury follow-ups, giving some time to an injured wrestler to reveal their status is so welcomed.

Wonder if he really did hold it back from informing them or we are being kayfabed. That seems like something Tony would fine you for, for sure.

Mox is just gonna refuse to stop being a thorn in the side until he gets vanquished for good. He'll probably take some time off after this one.

I like that Moxley still looks afraid of Hangman. It’s the first time you’ve ever seen doubt in Moxley and it’s an interesting wrinkle in his overall character.

Stoked to rewatch FTR-Jetspeed. Had a broken view last night on what looked like another Harwood-Wheeler classic. Knight looked great as per usual, and Bailey continues to kill it every time out. That barefoot mulleted weirdo is special.

I was on the record here not being excited about his signing as the limited stuff I had seen of him from indies and TNA was mostly just another kicky flippy guy. I was wrong, he’s got a great spark and connection with a crowd and some of his stuff is really impressive. I actively look forward to his matches and think Jetspeed has really clicked. I do also agree that at some point him being a shithead karate heel would also be good.

Adding Stokely to the act has really given another layer to FTR as heels. Everything they have done since the turn and adding Stokely at ringside has been top tier. They're really good and have been really good for a long time, but having the wrinkle of good ol' fashioned managerial shenanigans is really drawing heat. Stokely is getting a Callis-esque reaction anytime he gets near a mic.

So I missed the show, based on reading a write-up does this seem like the end of the MJF/Hurt Syndicate stuff (which said write-up made it sound like) and if it is... kinda ended up just being a huge waste of time?

I watched the show and wasn't clear on that either. But yeah, if that was the end of the angle, it certainly wasn't much of a payoff.
