RIPPA Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Vets have started to report The Hall of Fame game is just over a week away (Thursday, July 31)
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Schef is reporting that the Trey Hendrickson deal with Cincy is close, but miles apart at the same time. He wants at least 3 years guaranteed. They're only willing to do one. He's left the state because of the impasse. Also their first overall pick, Shermar Stewart may not play a down for the team. It's looking more and more like a discipline clause (which would allow his deal to be voided if he got arrested) is the hang up. It's also very fun because you can clearly tell which reporters get their leaks from the team and which ones get their news from the agents. While he is ineligible to play(?), he's been practicing with Texas A&M, and may sit out the entire NFL season and re-enter the draft in 2026. To say the team is upset is putting it mildly. YOUR Cincinnati Bungles, ladies and gentlemen!
RIPPA Posted July 22, 2025 Author Posted July 22, 2025 The Honey Badger has retired EDIT - So has Jimmy Graham

For a sake of clarity - the issue is that despite the Bengals claim that all the teams are putting the language in now (which is true) is that Cincy wants the language to allow them to void FUTURE guaranteed money which no one has done before Mike Brown all but confirmed this yesterday at the press conference that saw him going "I don't want to pay for a player to sit in jail" Also - there are some people who comically think Stewart can just go back to A&M. To do so would require him to sue the NCAA to get his eligibility back

We need people who say the quiet parts out loud so we know we aren't crazy for thinking NFL owners think like this. 16 minutes ago, RIPPA said: Also - there are some people who comically think Stewart can just go back to A&M. At this point, I think that he could win, but he doesn't have the kind of money to fight the NCAA in court and isn't famous enough for a lawyer to take the case to raise their profile.

Oh don't kid yourself, there's a TON of pretty good lawyers who'd love to take down the NCAA and it's little fiefdom pro bono.

I 100% those people exist, but I don't think they would spend that time taking down the NCAA in higher profile ways. If this was a first round quarterback, they'd absolutely jump at this opportunity. For instance, the Ed O'Bannon case made sense because he was one of the highest profile athletes of his day and the case wasn't on a time crunch. This case is only relevant as long as it takes for Mike Brown to realize paying him is cheaper than paying Trey Hendrickson. In order to get Stewart back into Texas A&M, he'd need to sue right now and the judge would have to decide to deny all of the NCAA's attempts to delay. Seriously, no lawyer who could actually win this type of case would take a case that would go away when the whole thing could go away if one side or the other decides not to throw away millions of dollars over a few words.
Brian Fowler Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 As seen with Diego Pavia a few months ago, he doesn't need to win the case. He would just need a temporary injunction that would carry through the season. The NCAA might very well even stop fighting at that point, like they did with Pavia. Or they might not, like the injunction they just got overturned by some kid who didn't want his D II years to count against his eligibility.
Brian Fowler Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 (But also Mike Elko has flatly stated TAMU isn't looking for him to play next year, just letting him stay in shape.) 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 By the by.. it seems some Cowboys are less than thrilled with Jerry's latest drunken rants
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 And once again my team's idiot GM has done a goof. CB Artie Burns... *WHO HAS AN EXTENSIVE INJURY RECORD* ... let's see here.... Ah of course... ...has torn his ACL on the first day of practice. I mean, who needs a secondary anyway, right?

I've heard from multiple people that the dolphins not only have the worst secondary in the NFL, but have one of the absolute worst secondaries of all time. Their projected starting corners have started a combined 3 games. One was an undrafted free agent and the other was a 5th round pick. All of their shortcomings will be blamed on Mike McDonald being a weirdo. Artie Burns was most likely going to be their #1 corner, but he hasn't been a full time starter since 2017. RIPPA Posted July 24, 2025 Author Posted July 24, 2025 Can't make this up - Justin Fields just got carted off the field at Jets training camp
supremebve Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 It's not common, but toe injuries can be career threatening. Deion Sanders and Eddie George had their careers ended by toe injuries. There's a season where a 23-year-old Marshall Faulk only gained 587 yards in 13 games which was a bad toe injury. I had a toe injury that seemed to last for about a year and a half because I couldn't stop bumping my toe into shit. It's easily the most painful injury I've ever had and I've had a herniated disk in my back.
NoFistsJustFlips Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Aaron Rdogers at least had enough showmanship to let his body explode during an actual game. Poor Jets fans. 2

Gonzo Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 (edited) The Raiders are releasing Christian Wilkins. They signed him last year to a 5-year, $110 million contract. There's still $57.5 million in guarantees on his deal. Of course, this being the Raiders, they're attempting to void $35.2 million worth of those guarantees because of how Wilkins "treated his rehab" for the foot injury he suffered last year. Wilkins has already filed a grievance. Even if Wilkins loses the grievance, Las Vegas has paid him a shade over $29 million for 4.5 games worth of work. THE RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAIDERS! Toe injuries take forever to heal and you're constantly doing stuff to your toe (bumping it, pressure, whatever) that slows down the healing. Sounds like Fields has a dislocated toe, which is probably just about the best toe injury you can have. Edited July 25, 2025 by Tabe

Toe injuries take forever to heal and you're constantly doing stuff to your toe (bumping it, pressure, whatever) that slows down the healing. Sounds like Fields has a dislocated toe, which is probably just about the best toe injury you can have. The absolute worst part of the injury is that you never really know when it's fully healed. There will be weeks at a time where it feels perfectly fine, then you'll bump it on something or try to reach for something and go on your tippy toes and boom back to square one. I remember being able to run with little to no pain almost the entire time, but the next day I'd wake up and could barely put any weight on it. A doctor told me it will take time to heal, but that could mean days, weeks, months, or years based on how often I aggregate it. It wasn't broken, it was basically like a jammed finger, except you have to stand on it. I didn't need surgery, there was no ligament tear or something that could be fixed. It was just extreme pain that took about 18 months to fully go away. When I say I bumped it on something, I don't mean l stubbed it. It would be something like my my toe grazed a step while walking up the stairs, or my shoe got caught on the carpet and my toe slid to the front of my shoe. The type of thing you literally do everyday without noticing would send a shockwave of pain into my toe. I say this as someone who had a herniated disk that legitimately made me wonder if one day I'd wake up and not be able to get out of bed. That toe injury was worse by far.

That was my meniscus injury for me. I've been run over by a car, torn my ACL, been hospitalized for kidney stones, and by far - BY FAR - the worst pain I've ever felt was my torn meniscus. Like, insomnia for 6 weeks because the pain was so bad I would wake up constantly. Going to the doctor for an exam and then going out to my car and screaming in pain, having to sit there for 15 minutes just to be able to drive home. And so on. Thankfully, it healed relatively quickly - maybe three months total - but it was BRUTAL. And I'd STILL rather have that than a toe injury like yours.
RIPPA Posted July 25, 2025 Author Posted July 25, 2025 Justin Fields did return to practice this AM so it looks like nothing… for now

Dolfan in NYC Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Unfortunately this comes from Schef on McAfee's show, but... the Wilkins release is just fucking weird now
