Curt McGirt Posted July 18 Posted July 18 This came to mind from blotting a bit of water on the floor -- because you blot that shit -- and I thought it'd be a great thread for posting clips. A lot of things Denzel's did, like capping Idris Elba in this, or the coke scene in Flight, or the entirety of Training Day, could fall into this category. There's a lot of room for interpretation, so take this as inspiration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8OMHtUg9sU&ab_channel=Movieclips
Brandon Bones Posted July 19 Posted July 19 https://youtu.be/c-f0DwbNF08?si=EG2hqpgsd43Y8fRd Roger Moore as James Bond kicks that car with a guy in it off a fucking cliff. 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 DAMN. Of all the Bonds you'd never think Roger Moore would be that brutal. There were a bunch of Breaking Bad clips that came up in that feed, and there's got to be at least ten thousand of them to post. If someone has the best Mike one, let 'er rip. 1
Contentious C Posted July 19 Posted July 19 It's a comic book/MCU entry, so boo me if you must, but in an otherwise boring movie, this "dismissal" always stuck out. Just instant ragdoll on a guy who took a Super Soldier Serum variant. https://youtube.com/shorts/Dad9sfIeFVM?si=ITkxjhEMOOl5eQAY 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 Not a problem. If anyone complains about Tim Roth being in something on here then they shouldn't post in here. And, speaking of which! The end of a terribly underrated and unfairly unliked film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hugpRyTc1fE&ab_channel=Apeiron
Contentious C Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I wish I could be a fan of anything the way you're a fan of Four Rooms. Didn't recall Allison Anders did one of the vignettes until I watched an absolutely brutal film of hers. 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 I don't know anything about Allison Anders, though I recognize Gas Food Lodging and Mi Vida Loca just by titles. It looks like I have some watching ahead of me, thanks! (And yeah, I like Four Rooms just fine, but I think my real love comes more from how it's badly treated. I'm always a fan of the underdog, and the Rodriguez and Tarantino segments are just too good to ignore.)
Andrew POE! Posted July 19 Posted July 19 This is what I first thought of from Sorcerer: https://youtu.be/EGY5dzIuJLk?si=BKq37WUSlVibzm8F 1

It looks like I have some watching ahead of me, thanks! What I watched was Things Behind the Sun. It's...definitely good. And I love Kim Dickens, and this is about her best role. But...woof. It is harrowing. If you read the description, you'll have a pretty good idea of what it's about. Plus, she plays a raging alcoholic, so you may find other things about it bother you that didn't have as much of an effect on me. That said, the rest of the story is a "watch it once and never again" kind of deal. I don't remember the last time a movie messed me up to that degree. Requiem for a Dream, maybe? It probably doesn't help that I have a friend who resembles Kim Dickens superficially, and she and I have done some things together in the past that now make me wonder, "Is there a darker reason for this?", even though I'm fairly sure there isn't. But I digress. Edited July 19 by Contentious C 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 Heh. Yes, I might pass on that one, though I'm sure I couldn't help myself if I saw it was gonna be on TV. And not even passing because of the alcoholism but rather my history with friends I've had to cut out of my life previously (let's leave that one at that. You get my drift.).

That reminds me that I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF BLOODY SORCERER. The first time I heard of that movie was as an actual child in Stephen King's Danse Macabre, where he said he liked it because he liked scenes of guys working on heavy machinery -- so basically that scene haha. I thought you were gonna put in the assassination scene from the beginning. This clip/section reminds me explicitly of the bank robbery scene in Thief. 1

Yeah, when I saw Thief recently, it recalled back to me Sorcerer as well. I'll probably be getting the 4K of Thief on Criterion ASAP now. Thanks. 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 Yeah I saw that just got put out from a review on Trailers from Hell, or else here (I highly recommend that site for all, especially our collectors, for the Cinesavant reviews of all the new releases coming out. The trailers are pretty neat too!).
tbarrie Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Will I be banned from this thread if I argue that grammatically it should be "Worst-Ass"? 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 I think that's fair enough haha To be serious though, my only real complaints would be somebody posting clips from Scarface or something we've all seen. It might be probably my second favorite film of all time, but seriously, be original.

HarryArchieGus Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Rachel Weisz revealing her Paul Rudd project in Neil Labute's the Shape of Things comes to mind. Which in turn brings to mind Aaron Eckhart callously breaking down what's happened for his colleague in Labute's In the Company of Men. And lastly, Jason Patrick explaining the assault of a classmate in, again Labute's, Your Friends and Neighbours. Labute, at his best, knows how to bring matters to an icy chill. Julianne Moore admitting to an affair to Matthew Modine while (bottom half) naked in Short Cuts also comes to mind. An excellent scene from one of the true greats.

You reminded me of this deep cut from Hard Target. Wilford Brimley, of all people, gets to totally kick ass while Lance Henriksen glowers on watching helplessly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIgQvfFgQWo&ab_channel=Movieclips And I watched this last night! The closing speech by Brad Pitt of Killing Them Softly. SO COLD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dktB-zExOaI&pp=0gcJCfwAo7VqN5tD Edited July 21 by Curt McGirt
Curt McGirt Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KFrdEQDIEZ4 This is Sam Neill getting his ass kicked by a French guy who knows karate or kung fu or something from Possession. It is SUCH a weird film and this just underlines it.
Curt McGirt Posted July 23 Author Posted July 23 That shouldn't be allowed due to popularity but the judges allow it (and they scolded me in my brain for doubting them) 1
Brian Fowler Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) John Matrix: Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last? Sully: That's right, Matrix! You did! John Matrix: I lied. Edited October 2 by Brian Fowler 1
twiztor Posted October 2 Posted October 2 the entire climax of Django Unchained is the epitome of this, for me. I guess you could probably pick any of QT's movies and it would be hard to argue against it, but Jamie Foxx just fucking oozes righteous retribution. THIS is always the movie i come back to when i i feel that everything going wrong in the world and i need to know that there's some sort of accountability, somewhere, on some level. So, you could say i've watched it a lot lately.
