I don't think Hangman is quite done with the DRs yet and I don't think Moxley is done with him, but I think Moxley is afraid of Hangman. I would almost like to see Hangman challenge Moxley and Moxley wuss out and Darby is then like, good, now you have me.

Only problem is that I don't know what Hanger does for now. It's too soon for MJF and MJF is fucking around with Mistico.

Although, and this is just a reminder for folks, Forbidden Door season is upon us and that's usually when the booking takes a dip. With NJPW still being kinda sorta the shits, I worry we'll get some horseshit like EVIL vs Hangman. Hmm...and overbooked match against EVIL wouldn't be the worst I guess from the perspective of Hangman's well being and just keeping him healthy.

The other options are probably Gabe Kidd or David Finlay. Whatever the option is going to be, booking is going to be ultra limited because the G1 Climax is only a few days before Forbidden Door so maybe Hangman faces someone from CMLL instead?

Hey now, Sum 41 is pretty alright for pop punk. They're one of the weird bands where it was two of their biggest singles that sort of put me off from them, the one that sounded Beastie Boys inspired and the other that sounded like Papa Roach, but then some of their other singles grabbed me.

I'd also recommend checking out the Linda Lindas cover of Sum 41's song In Too Deep.

At 44, with me despising most new music, I'm just embracing shit I listened to in the past. Like a couple months ago I went and listened through 3 or so Limp Bizkit albums. Some gems, but mostly terrible.

I'm kind of the opposite of you on Sum 41. "Fat Lip" is a fun, stupid single.  Not sure what the other one you mentioned is but maybe something off their second LP where they got more serious and seemed to want to fit in more with the "return of rock" bands around that time.

The first LB record is pretty damn good, to me. Heavier than anything after.

MJF seems too soon but what if that program splits in two where MJF somehow earns a title shot, banks the Casino title shot for later and comes up short. He kinda slinks off and promises he'll be back and in a few months he decides to use the title while Hangman has another feud in the meantime.

Fat Lip is the only song I ever played on Guitar Hero without missing a note. I like that and In Too Deep, but I also wouldn’t want to get in too deep to their catalog.

I find most wrestling music awful, I can’t stand nu-metal or the generic radio hard rock or rap. I loved the Chaka Khan cover at All In.

FWIW, on CMLL's weekly press conference show Informa, MJF sent in a promo calling out CMLL Semicompleto Champion Averno - Mistico's eternal rival. He said he wanted to take the title from Averno, so that Mistico would have to challenge him for the title.

CMLL's anniversary show is right around the corner (Sept 19th I think), and the speculation is that we're getting Mistico vs MJF on that show. The fact that a main event level apuesta match hasn't been announced yet, so the door is open to them in a mask vs hair match.

Just to be clear, CMLL is on an absolute tear right now. They are selling out Arena Mexico almost every Friday, and selling out Arena Coliseo DF often on Saturdays, which is almost unheard of. The ticket prices announced for Anniversario are higher than ever, so everyone is expecting a massive apuesta match to headline that show.

My point here is that, if MJF is getting his head shaved in CMLL in September, any program with Hangman is going to be short-term.

I would put the odds of MJF, who had at least two trips to Turkey for hair plugs, of getting his head shaved at 1%.

Here are theCubsFan's thoughts on that, from today's update on Luchablog:

Quote

I don’t know what MJF’s hair treatment situation is, nor do I really care have people explain it to me in the replies on Twitter, but I expect he’s such a wrestling dork that there’s a strong appeal to him in getting his head shaved in front of a sold out Arena Mexico well beyond the money he’d get for the match. I’m not sure it’s going to happen because of his hair, or because of the money, or because of the other responsibilities he has to AEW, but I’m sure there’s a part of him that wants to do it. He – and CMLL – is still going to get that sold out Arena Mexico even if there isn’t a head shaved, though there will be a difference in feeling. And the other issue with all of this is AEW has definitely been scared off including non-AEW titles on their TV. They’ll make an exception for the top NJPW title, but building a Forbidden Door match around an otherwise minor CMLL title would be out of character for this era of AEW. We’ll see how it goes.

I do not wish to check to see if this is true, but my gut feeling is that TK hasn't booked House of Torture in the past on these sorta shows (if he has it wasn't prominent) because he knows it wouldn't fly for his audience (and he probably doesn't care for it himself).

Anyways Gabe Kidd would probably be the NJPW guy to go after Hanger, right?

Probably? But with Kidd being in the G1 there isn't going to be much build. Same for Finlay. That's why I thought that maybe it would be someone from CMLL.

But hear me out.

What if he lost his hair to Mistico on a Saturday, flew to Turkey the next day, and showed up with a glorious mane Wednesday?  Top tier heel work.

And bonus points if it’s a broccoli cut.

Amen. Can we somehow band together and WILL the super fun and off brand Pointer Sisters back into the theme slot. I'm tired of starting Dynamite episodes on mute.

When Limp Bizkit is your go to in response, can you be sure the problem is 'new music'?

The day after CMLL's Anniversario is All Out in Toronto. Though I suppose there's no guarantee MJF will be booked on the latter show.

Still, I'd like to be in the audience for MJF's first match as a bald dude. Historic!

I’ll spitball this booking philosophy idea, that even in the face of all the dream match potential of inter promotional shows.  They’re a pain in the ass to the existing narrative of your weekly shows and big destination events.

I’m guessing the booking would seem to be burdened by the interruption.  Made even heavier by how one weaves it back into things.  It’s like taking the off-ramp and then immediately getting back to the on-ramp to the highway.  I haven’t much liked some of the pasted together feel in the vibe of Forbidden Door build ups.  It only ever feels like things pick up until that go home episode of Dynamite when all the outside talent gets into town.

The events themselves have been brilliant.  Because of course it was.  A lot of great wrestlers worked those shows.

So what do you do with your champion who has the most important character arc on a show that kind of gets in the way of it.  Historically, in the rare occasions inter promotional events… has anybody been that generous to put World Championships on the line?  Not really and who could blame them?

Not much from shows like these carries over once the narrative main stream returns.

The all too obvious and unfortunately reductive choice is IF YOU DID do a title for title deal.  Time Limit Draw.  Ugh.

And who would really have that much trust to actually let the other teams guy go over and relinquish control of that narrative you built?  I’d love to see them try and what an earnest effort could produce.

It’s ironic that my suggestion is pretty much everything that often gives these shows a placeholder feel.  Hide Hanger out in the open in a tag match.  Team him up with Darby against Mox and Umino (there has to be something a bit bigger than that) and have your actual main event be more about pride or whatever.  I’m spitballing of course.

Is there anyone in NJPW or CMLL that even could have that marquee value that could catch up people like me against Hangman title match or not?  I’m way out of the loop.

It did just occur to me that lower card titles over the years haven’t been as taboo.  But that not really what you’re trying to push out front.

Or MJF shows up to All Out with a wig looking like Kurt Angle in 2002.

NJPW is in the gutter,  that's my take on it.

I'm way behind on my NJPW this year.

Dork Angle is by far the best incarnation of Kurt Angle.

Yeah, I'm not feeling Forbidden Door like in 2022-2023. That was special.

But I’m still betting the show itself will be really good.

I'm sure it will with AEW, NJPW, CMLL and STARDOM.

TK has money and a private jet.  He can fly Turkish Sy Sperling here!

I still don't understand why hair plug tech in Turkey is so much better that it has become a meme.

Okay, I got through these first two pages and presume the Seger talk died off, and I was gonna see a lot of stuff I shouldn't that I missed out on, so I'll just go ahead and say: all this talk and nobody brings up the best Seger song?

As far as the hits, if I ever hear "Like A Rock" again I'll just end it, but I'm hit or miss on a lot of the classics. That old old shit is great though.
