🎼 As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain, I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain, but that's just perfect for an Amish like me.... You know, I shun fancy things like electricity.

Man, that was a busy weekend!  New world champions!  Injuries!  Cash ins~! MORE new world champions!  But perhaps most importantly...

gunthergoldbergwwesnme.jpg

Night, night, sweet Goldberg, parting is such sweet sorrow.

🧔🏿‍♂️ At 4:30 in the morning, I'm milkin' cows, Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows.  Fool! And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that, even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone!

I mentioned a cash in and a new champ!  Well, Naomi picked her spot correctly, and got her 3rd world championship as a result!

🧔🏿‍♀️ I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline. Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin! But if I finish all of my chores, and you finish thine, then tonight, we're gonna party like it's 1699!

So that's that, and now we're just 3 weeks from SummerSlam!   Oh boy, better start getting ready for that!

See you tonight!

(One guess who I saw in concert last night.  Long live the king.)

Enjoy your week!

Was at his show in Toronto on Wednesday. Legitimately one of the best shows I've ever been to.

See you tonight!

This graphic kinda looks like the final entrant will be Heyman. Imagine you're LA Knight, you outlast Punk, Uso, Penta and Bron, then Lesnar's music hits and out comes Paul Heyman!

Naomi was fucking awesome tonight and what a monster pop from the returning OTC.  RAW was pretty good from in-ring action to story line progression.  I still think the whole Jelly Roll and Logan Paul thing sucks but everything else is getting better,  maybe?

  • Punk versus Gunther at SummerSlam.
  • Punk wins.
  • Seth cashes in.
  • Drag it out until WrestleMania.
  • Profits.

You can strike out the second point and slot in the third if they're doing the WM31 thing. But either way. This pretty much lines up with what Meltzer said about Rollins' injury, that they want the crowd to think he's out so it's a surprise when he cashes in. I like Rollins & Punk both, but, man, I'm so sick of this feud. Hopefully they can wrap it up with a banger like he did with Drew. If it's at WrestleMania and Punk wins the title there, even better.

I do find it funny that Roman is back to do a short little program before he goes to Australia in August to film Street Fighter. Same thing with Cody, he's gonna win the title back and then disappear. Unless he's just an insane person and will be traveling back and forth between Australia and the US to appear on Smackdown and/or wrestle. That's crazy, right? No way.

I thought RAW was good tonight. I liked Heyman's answer to Jackie's question about Seth. "He's got till June to cash this in...". In the past they would just hot shot the briefcase off someone if they got hurt. So I guess Seth gets to stay Mr. MITB for the time being.

Lyra vs. Bayley was a really good match. I like that the Lyra vs. Becky feud will continue.

Nikkie Bella looked pretty good in the ring. Found it funny that she almost did the rack attack move that destroyed her neck. Even on twitter someone pointed it out to her and she was like it was muscle memory.

The bit with AJ Styles praying had me laughing my ass off. "Don't listen to him God"

The gauntlet was pretty good. I would have had Penta run the table only to run into Bron, but it worked with Bron beating everyone but Punk. Didn't think Roman would actually show up after the crowd was chanting for him. That was a nice surprise.

Lyra/Bayley ruled so much. God damn that match told such a great story. Bayley really is the GOAT. So many of the other top women in the company need the title or to be in the mix for the title to be compelling and have great matches. Bayley is almost the exact opposite at this point of her career. That was just a special performance from one of the best to ever do it. And maybe “one of” should just be taken from the sentence.

Opening with Naomi, Rhea, and Io to set up the triple threat was nothing special but still nice to see. This version of Naomi carries herself so well despite being a cackling villain.

Kabuki Warriors vs. Raquel/Roxanne was solid. Would have preferred Kairi and Asuka won, but I'm good with Judgement Day cheating here. They also probably need it more wit Raquel and Roxanne as a new team. Hopefully they pop up in NXT and Smackdown to create some decent rivalries.

Bayley/Lyra was great. Dug the action. Dug the tension. And I dug how each of the falls played out a bit more exciting than the last. Its been good seeing Lyra come more and more into her own since this story started post Mania. Hopefully she get s a stip like this against Becky and wins the belt back at Summerslam. Becky/Bayley can still happen afterward.

The backstage segment with Dom and AJ had me chucking. These interactions the past few weeks have been dumb in the best of ways.

Nikki/Chelsea was solid aside from Nikki trying her old spine destroying finish at the end. Guessing old habits kicked in. Was nice to see Stephanie make the save post match.

Bron vs. Penta vs. Knight vs. Jey vs. Punk was good. WWE tends to gauntlet matches well so I was happy with how this one played out, particularly with them waiting for Bronson to pounce. Bron/Knight was probably the best of rounds here though I still dug Bron/Jey and Bron/Punk. The post match beatdown that led to the save by Roman was an awesome surprise. Not sure if the crowd knew he was there already or just felt like making the call, but I loved how it played out. That pop was massive.

Normally I would complain about only 4 matches, but when one of them is longer gauntlet match I feel some leeway is allowed. Beyond that the wrestling here was just pretty solid-good. Bayle/Lyra was MOTN for me and really delivered though the gauntlet wasn't super far behind. Beyond that I'm digging where the stories are going and how the card for Summerslam is building. Rollins's injury got a quick and solid address that will make his return and cash in a decent surprise whenever I happens, legit hurt or not. Good show and follow up to this past weekends events.

Oh, and hey, here's a shock....  Goldberg injured someone!

Referee Charles Robinson has said he's got two cracked ribs from the spear he took.

Melter and Alvarez both say people in the company told them about Seth’s injury before it happened. Alvarez’ theory is that Seth has a minor injury he maybe needs surgery for, so WWE did the SNME angle to cover for that and make people think he’s out long-term. The endgame would apparently be to “surprise” people when Seth returns sooner instead of later and cashes in. Don’t quite buy it, but also wouldn’t be surprised if Seth returns at Summer Slam and cashes in after Punk beats Gunther. Working a match on a bad knee and doing flippy springboard moonsaults seems like a terrible idea, so it’s definitely something wrestlers would agree to.

I'm in the same boat with you.

My only thought is that covering for the injury by having Seth do a random flippy move which leads into an awkward finish with LA Knight seems weird when there are other ways to do an injury angle.

Also having Goldberg go 20 in your main event being the plan doesn't seem right either.

And I saw the clip of Goldberg griping about his match. Like dude, what exactly do you want and will you ever be happy?

Roman is just that dude, what a reaction.

If Seth doesn’t cash in on Punk at SS or the night after I’ll be shocked.

Really even if Seth's injury is 100% legit and he's out for the better part of the year, Punk winning at Summerslam only for Bron & son to absolute destroy him so Seth on crutches can pin him just out of pure spite even if he has to immediately forfeit it would work for me. Sure it's perhaps not the best thing for a top title's credibility but idk it'd be pretty funny.

That would actually be pretty good and not something I've seen before!

Opening to NXT was fine as a setup to the six-women tag main event. Masha's mic working right would have made it a little better.

Trick/Santana/Hendry vs. DarkState was solid up until the no contest ending with the System interfering.

Karmen/Kali ending in another no contest to push Jordynne's feud with Blake more was a choice. Wasn't too pleased here as this was more or less Kali's NXT debut so it was weird to have her chumped out by Grace. Jordynne's anger made sense, but this isn't the best move to have faces making let alone what it says about Evolve and its talent.

Tony vs. Stacks vs. Luca was good. Plenty of great action with all three guys having some nice moments. Despite the strong win this did feel like the end of Tony D'Angelo as a character, if not NXT in general. He has been ready to move on from both for nearly two years now so I can't really complain outside the route they took to get here.

The segment setting up Oba vs. Briggs vs. Yoshiki was fine. Still I find myself disappointed as I would much rather see these guys facing off in singles.

Masha/ZaRuca vs. Fatal Influence built into something good with everyone but Sol getting some nice focus to show off some. Sol needed the break after her weekend so I was more than fine with this. Was particularly pleased to see Nyx, Zaria, and Masha impressing.

Not fond of two matches ending in no contest though the last two delivered well. Was pleased to see them put such time and focus on the doubles titles match. It makes sense coming off of Evolution. Beyond that I thought the stories building here for the coming weeks were interesting. Solid show though NXt ha shad stronger this year.

And Goldberg is already complaining publicly about the match.

More specifically the ending of the match and that his speech was cut out so early.   Which I don't know is really WWE fault unless you want to blame them for not telling NBC that there will be a 5 to 10 minute overrun.  Which they probably can't do

I thought the whole "I had to apologize to Gunther for laughing at his chops" was more interesting.    I can't tell if Goldberg basically exposed that Gunther chops aren't as horrible as we thought or Gunther kept it lighter than usual and Goldberg thinks that he works his chops

A thought I just had: not that WWE Speed means anything, but that belt's lineage just got wacky with Gable on the shelf and Kaiser walking around in the gear. Do they have him drop the belt to the next tournament winner, or have him hold onto it?
