🎼 I know you wanted me to stay, but I can't ignore the crazy visions of me in LA. And I heard that there's a special place where boys and girls can all be queens every single day...

Last week, an eventful week for AEW!  

 

💃🏿 I'm having wicked dreams of leaving Tennessee, hear Santa Monica, I swear it's calling me. Won't make my mama proud, it's gonna cause a scene, she sees her baby girl, I know she's gonna scream...

And over the weekend, outside the ring, our AEW went all Daytona!

I first came across Pink Pony Club on youtube, where I watch everything at 1.5x speed.  So I know PPC as a defiant bop, not a wistful semi-ballad, and I can't listen to it any other way.

I heard of Chappell Roan and somebody in my political group has used the song title as a username. Yet I'm woefully behind on music and never heard the song until now. 

I completely agree with your assessment as that's how I took it as well. I might not listen to pop but I like this a lot.

I like Hot to Go, it’s catchy and has a very 80s pop vibe. That’s about where I stand as far as Chapelle Roan, but I’m glad for someone like her to have pop success.

Roan knows her way around a hook. She gets a lot of play at work because (most) of the girls also like her. My full thoughts on PPC are probably too political for the board so I'll just leave it at: this song rules and I'm glad so many people are able to take some meaning from it. 

 

Edit: Oh yeah, wrestling.  I hope Okada/Ibushi is a good match. And a safe one.

Just wondering why you do that. I find it fun sometimes, especially with me listening to all the crazy metal and punk I do, where a drop or raise in speed can switch everything up totally. And somehow the vocals still sound normal, unlike, say, putting a 33 1/3 vinyl record on 45 RPM. (Which, if you like Destruction's Infernal Overkill, actually do that on vinyl because it sounds twice as good!)

Generally I find that YouTubers talk at an artificially slow pace to try to drag out the length of whatever video they're producing, so 1.5x speed gets them back to a more professional TV cadence.  I don't usually listen to music on my TV (or if I do it's at 1x speed), but PPC just happened to come up as a recommendation after watching a non-music video.  I *think* YouTube pitch matches to normal speed, so it really does just sound like the band is up tempo.

Most looking forward to Kazuchika Okada vs. Kota Ibushi. Both have great chemistry. Last singles match was a disaster, the NJPW G1 Climax 2021 Final ending in referee stoppage as Kota Ibushi dislocated his arm. Red Shoes Unno was right to stop it.

I used to love doing the opposite with my 45s. Taco's "Puttin' On The Ritz" sounds really good slowed down. So does NIN's "Hand That Feeds"

Man, with the injury bug in wrestling and All In a week away, I'd be wrapping Jon Moxley, Hangman Adam Page, Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Timeless Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone in cotton wool. Tony Khan be shitting bricks especially as he's always wanted to do Okada vs. Omega V.

Somewhat random trios/tag matches have become AEW’s ‘secret sauce’ in 2025. Providing nothing but excellent quarter hours. This one will no doubt be as pleasing as the best of them. KOR/Roddy have been great since joining forces despite their push/win-loss record. Takeshita feels poised for a big title run sooner than later. The Bucks have been nothing but consistently awesome despite their detractors best efforts to suggest otherwise. And Bandido has wonderful momentum. Stoked for this and the Takeshita-Bandido roh main event.

Imagine being a kid and your parents having a turntable that still had the 16 rpm speed setting! Sometimes I like to think that DJ Screw’s family had one of those and that’s how he got the idea.

There was a DJ on Radio 1 who had a turntable connected to a stationary pushbike, and the speed at which he pedalled controlled the speed at which the record spun. You'd be shocked at how similar Eminem sounds to sped up Jay-Z.

I love the sound of those console stereos. I pulled one from the rubble at a second hand shop 10 years back, and fell in love with it again. That goddamn bass! It sounds like your under water in the best possible sense - like you're in a submarine. Sadly, I had to toss it in a move, but sweet memories persist.

EVP titles versus Swerve/Ospreay can't challenge for the World title for a year

I'm riding the Mox train until I'm proven wrong. The news about Darby coming back any day now has solidified my feelings, especially if he returns during the gauntlet match. If he wins, I think it's over for Hangman. The stip doesn't do anything to quell these feelings, since Hangman is 1-0 in Texas Death against Mox.
