Megan's not actually that big, the majority of the AEW women's division is just tiny.

I saw her at GCW and she's but but not freakishly large or something. One thing I've noticed is that unlike the men a lot of women wrestlers seem to be smaller/ shorter than average

Meltzer:

Bryan Danielson revealed that WWE sent him letters telling him not to do the “Yes” chant. He was always careful not to start it while on television.  I guess they saw him doing it in one of his recent off television cameos and didn’t see it that way.

Natural:

Fuck off WWE.

There are people out there who still think he's going back to WWE at some point.

Yeah, it's not going to help matters. I think Danielson stays in AEW with the freedom the company offers, wrestling in AEW/NJPW/CMLL and bleed.

So what's the deal with Adam Cole? He just wrestled Thursday and can't do anything by Saturday? I'm worried that it's something serious like blood clots or a heart condition. Even with a joint or muscle injury, most wrestlers can still do a quick squash or pre-match beatdown to complete the angle, so it has to be something pretty extreme for zero contact.

Danielson then immediately showing up on the biggest AEW PPV of the year and doing the Yes motion to get the crowd to chant it makes this even more funny. Either he was just being silly about WWE telling him that or he went out of his way to do the opposite of what they asked.

Whenever someone asks so what's the deal, I can't help but hear it in Jerry Seinfeld's voice.

According to Alvarez (yeah), Cole was injured on the lariat from Fletcher on Thursday's Collision. If true, it's probably another concussion and we all remember how long it took for him to come back last time. Pure speculation, but he might be considering retirement or been suggested by the AEW medical team to consider it given his history.

I am absolutely gutted for Adam Cole. I’m not a fan of his work, but he’s reportedly a wonderful human. I hope this isn’t it for him.

Yeah I feel bad for Adam Cole. My guess is that this one of those things where he's maybe not done done, but he's going to be an occasional performer at best.

I think, in all honesty, that he had been shuffled way down the card anyway - noone thought he wasn't dropping the belt tonight. So I think we were on a wind-down trajectory anyway.

I think he'll be ok, but yeah it sucks even if I've never been as high on him as some.

Per Meltzer, he was still scheduled to wrestle as late as Friday night, but things changed after he talked to Tony Khan a few times. I guess Khan said that in the post-event press conference. So, yeah, concussion seems the most likely issue. I guess the speech he gave before the match hinted at retirement? Though I’m not sure why anyone would believe that being that Bryan Danielson appeared later in the night. Lol, these guys usually seem to need show biz too much to prioritize health or family.

Anyway, my initial guess after I heard he was out of the match was that a rabid Britt Baker jumped him in catering (her natural habitat these days). Guess not.

Is Britt Baker still practicing dentistry?

Yea, considering how long it took him to recover from the last concussion, I can understand why he talked the way he did. Concussions are one of those things not only promotions are more careful about wrestlers working through but with more knowledge of the long term effects he may decide its not worth the risk to continue wrestling even if he is cleared. I think that second part is important as he wasn't 'knocked out' or even showed serious issues in the Collision match so he could have always ignored it and wrestled Saturday anyway (which probably is what most wrestlers would have done 15, 20 years ago). But he clearly reported whatever he felt to TK and doctors so he's mindful of his health, I don't think he'll be back until he and doctors are 100% comfortable with it, if that happens.

Yeah, it feels like maybe they were winding him down a bit.  He’d been doing commentary on Collision to the point where it seemed like they could be preparing him for that role sooner rather than later.

I’ve seen Cole since his ROH days teaming with O’Reilly and always felt he was a real talent and he truly came across like the nicest guy.  All the best to him in whatever is next.

I don't love Adam Cole the wrestler, but dude seems like a really great guy and could easily be a great shit-talking manager who occasionally throws a super kick at somebody.

This all seems premature as of now, but it's still important to remember that it might be too painful for him to be out in front of the crowd performing but not being able to wrestle. Danielson famously made it known that he hated doing the GM stuff because he wanted to wrestle and it was pretty hard on his mental health. Maybe Adam Cole isn't like that, who knows.

I'm not quite sure what Evil Uno & Aubrey Edwards do with AEW Games, but you've gotta think there's a spot for him on that team - especially since he has a podcast with Uno specifically about video games.

I’m pretty heartbroken for Adam Cole. This is what he loves to do and I hate to see that taken away from him. Same goes for anyone else as long as what they’re doing doesn’t hurt someone. I think it’s especially hard with Cole knowing how much of a sweetheart he is.

I thought of the dumbest Casino Gauntlet story: a comedy guy wants in and gets put into a match where the winner gets to be the last entrant.  He wins and is so happy. All during the Gauntlet there's a camera getting him freaking out over near falls and surprises. Finally he gets word that he's up. His music hits and he's celebrating and the match ends during his entrance.

Given the result of the Bucks match, they could have Cole revealed as the new babyface authority figure on Wednesday. Not sure how well he would do in that role or more importantly whether he's physically and emotionally up for any on-screen role at the moment, but it would be another huge feel-good moment on the heels of such a feel-good ppv.

That's...a pretty decent idea. It would be an abrupt turnaround for a guy who was just an active wrestler that said he was going away for a bit to suddenly show back up on tv in the role CD had.

The combination of a head injury severe enough for AEW to take seriously (I know that's harsh, but it's earned) and Cole's concussion history makes it real clear why he seems so unsure as to what the future holds. Heart breaks for him, never cared for his matches but he seems like a good guy and I'm not gonna wish ill on someone just because he wrestles a style I don't care for.

Also I've seen some of the... let's say kookier parts of the wrestling internet community note this but I think this the rare moment they may not be wrong: Cole being deactivated with a seemingly career threatening concussion a month or so after he took that nightmarish looking maybe botched apron powerbomb is hard to hand wave away. I think back to Bret Hart and how while the Goldberg match is what everyone remembers wrestling for a few weeks after is what likely cemented the damage and... well hopefully for Cole's sake it was just that lariat but I got a real bad feeling about things.

I nominate Roddy Strong.

Also I would KEEP doing that to Roddy so it becomes like that running joke on Jimmy Kimmel where Matt Damon is always booked on the show but they always run out of time.

Eventually Roddy has to make it to the ring before it ends but gets rolled up and  pinned as soon as he steps in cause he’s celebrating to much for making it to the ring.

I've never liked Adam Cole as a wrestler but I'd never wish ill will on someone for that. Adam Cole seems like a really good human being. So many of his fellow wrestlers love him and go to bat for him which says it all.

This doesn't quite fit the first part of your scenario but Evil Uno did a bit on their "Being the Dark Order" show where he was waiting to be called.
