Despite those early Collision episodes being some of my favorite AEW content in a long time, even I can agree that giving Punk the keys to Collision was a bad idea. Not because of what was put out, because I think we all agree early Collision was great, but you can't put that amount of power onto a wrestler and expect EVERYONE to go along with it. The story was something like Perry not listening to Schiavone so he went to Punk and asked him to talk to Perry, yeah? I don't blame Perry, honestly, for blowing Punk off like that because Punk isn't and never was his boss. But Schiavone IS, but that's another story.

Everyone has learned their lessons from WCW. Even WWE has, nobody there has control like a Hogan did in WCW.

So don't really know where to put this, this seems as good a place as any. On my walk today I was thinking about AEW's for lack of a better term "missing in action" list, basically those who aren't injured or climbing Everest but are under contract/haven't been seen in a while for no officially known reason. Some I assume are just having their contracts run out, some I assume aren't as healthy as they claim they are (sorry Keith Lee), some are truly confusing (Gunn Club & Jack Perry aren't my favorites but should probably be doing something)... and then there is Nyla Rose.

It was another pride month come and gone where AEW seemingly forgot about the existence of Nyla which always irks me a bit, but I went to check cagematch after and saw she has not been booked by AEW/ROH all year (working the Jericho Cruise was as close as she got). It sticks out as she was regularly working ROH and dark matches right until the end of 2024, then a hard stop with 2025. I don't know why this is so but I would be lying if I said I saw the timing and didn't have a certain fear cross my mind. Let me just say that I really, really hope to see her work an AEW/ROH match soon. Please.

In full agreement. Nyla Rose is great, she's funny and underutilized. A love also according to our very own NikoBaltimore and his wife.

Thank you, Nyla Rose.

I'm not sure I understand the Mercedes and Pepperman dynamic either.  So Pepperman writes for her (and others) currently but what exactly was the relationship in WWE? Pepperman couldn't have had much influence because Mercedes was stuck in a lot of random tags and being told that she's basically a gatekeeper and jobber to the stars like Ronda Rousey.  All that combined with producers calling her names,  she quite obviously made the right decision to walk.

Tony Khan is not an idiot, and he's a student of wrestling.  AND he already tried giving some limited creative control to Punk (by way of Collision) and we saw how that didn't work.  I doubt he's just handing out creative control in any form ever again.

Weren't there reports that during NFL season when his duties with the Jags took him away from AEW, that TK's right hand man was Brian Danielson?  I think this was around the same time it was revealed Danielson had the power to levy fines, and had done so for some incident (Baker/MJF maybe?).

He’s on the disciplinary committee that they set up. I want to say Danielson was the final vote on whether to fire Punk or not over what happened at All In 2023.

I’m not sure I ever heard that Danielson basically takes over or anything during NFL season or anything. TK leans on him a lot, but I don’t think Danielson is booking shows and stuff. Mox, Danielson & Jericho definitely have clearly defined leadership contracts, however. Punk probably would’ve gotten one too if none of that shit in 2022 and 2023 ever happened and he wasn’t so paranoid and cagey.

I like the idea that Crunchyroll, at some point in the negotiation was like, "We've gone over everything and we're ready to sign you on for a collaboration. But first, we need it in writing that you will be winning the match at All In. We don't do business with losers!"

Sorry, Warner doesn't see any money in that. Best we can do is have her sponsored by Big Bang Theory and Modern Family reruns.

This is probably all over the place but the Players Tribune and AEW  created a mini documentary about the Briscoe family.   It is more about Mark Briscoe and how his family are then a brief look at their career.  But very awesome to watch.   And I am convinced that at least 2 or 3 of those kids are going to be in the business.  And not just the boys either

so according to the Dallas Morning News (lol what a weird source for this), Dustin Rhodes signed a 6 year extension last year.

They say his roles are a consultant, coach, occasional wrestler and an AEW ambassador.

I think I remember Tony Khan saying that if for some crazy reason he couldn't run AEW for the night that Danielson would be his choice for a replacement but besides the other roles mentioned here I haven't heard anything else. I imagine Mox would probably be another choice along with Jericho. You'd think TK would want a vacation some day but I guess when you're a billionaire every day is a vacation. God bless the dude, AEW is one of the few bright spots these days

AEW & Big Rubber Guys announced a partnership at Starrcast today. Haven’t announced the full lineup yet for Series 1 yet, but Toni Storm was confirmed.

welp, guess I’ll collect these too.

More importantly: Costco Guys Youtooz toys, featuring the Rizzler!

Actually though, that new Okada figure they're selling is really good. Not sure about $50 good but it's tempting.

The video I saw of Okada reacting to seeing the figure showed it with a limited to 5000 sticker, so there's that at least.

It is 3,000 I believe, I think the sticker was just hard to read at the angle. I was going to ask if they stopped dealing with ringsidecollectibles since the last few times I went to that site they didn't have any AEW figures featured, but I just went to the website and the next AEW set is in the banner. Just feels like there was a lull there in full releases and I was surprised that AEW is selling more limited sets strictly on their website. I like the look of them, I just hate it takes so long to mass produce them that half the time by the time the figures release the wrestlers are either doing a different gimmick, are out injured, or no longer work in AEW. Flair randomly having a AEW figure come out is wild.

I have the limited edition Ospreay and pre-ordered the limited edition Mone, may do the same with Okada.

As far as Jazwares goes, I contemplated only collecting the female wrestlers but I don't have the space to do that so I dropped it. But the Big Rubber Guys are fucking awesome, so AEW branded ones is really hard to pass up. Jazwares attempted it early on with the Cody, Punk & Darby figures. If the Okada is limited to 3000 then the $50 price tag makes even more sense. EDIT: actually I think you're just paying a premium for ordering it from the AEW website.

I think the biggest complaint everyone has with Jazwares is that they take too long to put them out. But they're easily the best wrestling figures on the market (that are sold in major stores, anyway). I have a few Mattel & Jazwares figures of Punk and the difference in quality between the two are noticeable. They really need to make more Supreme figures.

He’s basically a less famous but (IMO) better wrestler Sting; 30+ years in the business, time with both big promotions, went through the worst of the shit that happens on the road and found a way out. But he also runs a wrestling school is 10 years younger. They’re not hurting for money, I think it’s a great decision.

I refuse to get into AEW figure collecting for a few reasons, but I got my wife the black and white Timeless Toni Storm Youtooz figure last year during the preorder and it was one of her favorite Christmas presents, sits on the entertainment center shelf with our random Pops (not that they’re close to the same thing).
