Mike Leigh or Christopher Guest should make a tagicomedy about a bumfuck European Indy promotion who bankrupt themselves paying for a fancy new belt and booking a big arena in the hopes of attracting an American superstar who never arrives

Whoever said the boys were the biggest marks never met an obscure Indy promoter desperate to get their no name belt on AEW TV for a fraction of a second.

It's more about the houses and streaming numbers than being on AEW TV

Listened to that Interview Tony K did before the Chicago shows, seems like maybe he learned from the Brawl Out that he needs to step up and be the damn boss in his own company.

World's End will be in Chicago at the NOW Arena on 12/27

WWWF/WWF/WWE's most prominent town for decades was New York. AWA's was Minneapolis. NWA's was Atlanta. Is AEW's Chicago?

It's that or Jacksonville.

Though who knows how the Dallas relationship will grow going forward.

You're okay being disrespected because you're just a name on a spreadsheet, well isn't that disrespectful to you in the first place? He said literally nothing in those comments aside from admitting he'll bend over backward for The Brand.

Love the subtle shot by saying it'd be okay if he felt disrespected by WWE because they're the Yankees. What a fucking mark.

Cody and Punk both.  Two self-proclaimed outsiders and revolutionaries who couldn't deal with actually being part of a revolution, and all the good and bad that entails, and ran back to their safe space as soon as the opportunity came up.

I will always stand by my theory that Cody, having more say in booking back then, booked himself in that "I can never challenge for the belt again if I lose" angle because he knew TK had his first four champions, so 2+ years of booking, already set, and Cody wasn't in the picture.  So rather than be a perennial setup guy, always losing to the champ or contenders, Cody ran that angle to make himself an uncrowned champion...to make sure the story of every title holder contains "sure, this guy is the champ, but only because Cody can't challenge for it."  He's Dusty's kid and he absolutely learned all the bullshit politics and strategies to keep yourself over no matter what.

It's pretty well known on this board that I'm a Yankees fan, so seeing the WWE compared to the Yankees disgusts me.

Definitely thought of you when I read that one.

PSA: All the '19-'24 PPVs are now up on HBO Max

With how slow they’ve been with the Dynamite archive rollout, I'm starting to wonder if everything will be on Max by the end of the year. 2021-2023 Dynamite still needs to be uploaded, the entire run of Rampage, and I believe Collision isn’t complete either.

I wanna say the goal was to have the entire archives up by the end of 2025. I can’t remember where I saw that.

I don't know why Cody would be bitter about AEW. He always seemed like he was angling to get back to WWE Drew McIntyre style, and credit to him, he went out and grinded a bit and fully rehabbed his image as a legit guy. He was a decent name to help AEW get off the ground, but he wasn't truly in the inner circle, nor did he truly fit the vision. They benefited from him being there, and he benefited from getting his new image on national TV. When he ran his course there, WWE picked him right up and now he's a legit main eventer there which is pretty hard to do if you aren't preordained. Both sides got exactly what they wanted out of their time together.

Maybe he's just the kind of guy that isn't happy just moving on from a break-up, he has to see the ex be miserable too.

Man that Cody article pisses me off a lot. Guy is the ultimate disingenuous babyface, from publicly kissing Hunter and Bruce Pritchard's ass to still draping himself in the flag of imperialism and white supremacy in 2025. Cody mostly flopped in New Japan and his ROH run, while strong, wasn't exactly international news. Without Omega and Jericho running hard off the fumes from their Dome match AEW doesn't have the buzz right out the gate to make the original All In such a success and without AEW Cody doesn't get the platform to reinvent himself and ultimately re-sign with WWE. Ungrateful nepo baby and a company stooge to the bitter end.

I mean, I'm sure I said this in some form here years ago when it happened but TK deciding a few months into AEW's run that actually he was gonna run things himself rather than with the Elite was always likely gonna be a problem for at least one of them just due to sheer odds so... yeah Cody having some hard feelings is not exactly a huge shocker. He (and TBF the rest of the Elite) should have been pissed off at their agents/whoever wrote up the contracts for them more than anyone else though.

Cody is a great babyface, he cuts a tremendous babyface promo and he's a good enough wrestler to make it all work.  I'm not sure how creative he is. His feud and match with Dustin was great stuff but aside from that everything he was involved in was often case the worst thing going on in AEW at the time. The Cody island was mid.  He's better suited for WWE where they can tell him exactly what he needs to do.  He shouldn't have hard feelings over AEW because he lost the fans well before he lost Tony.

If i was HHH, i'd have the inflated ego he puts forward on Unreal too because he has people like Punk and Cody, former people who genuinely didn't like him, kissing his ass now.
