Casey Posted July 1 Posted July 1 So he fits right in with 95% of people that are going to see Superman 5
Zimbra Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I'm not even a clothes guy but Superman wearing an ill-fitted polo shirt tucked into pleated slacks without a belt is giving me hives. It's really nice of our generation's most talented comedic actress to take time out of her schedule to get a picture with Rachel Brosnahan. 4
The Natural Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Britt Baker wants to leave AEW according to bodyslam.net. Don't know how credible the source is but I'm not surprised she wants out. I am how quickly it soured since Baker's brief return falling out with MJF and getting suspended before her disappointing match with Mercedes Mone at last year's AEW All In. 1

Casey Posted July 2 Posted July 2 so, WrestlePurists are reporting that AEW believed Darby would be able to do the Owen tournament, but obviously that never happened and that's when he started the Mt. Everest trek. They go on to say that he's come back, unscathed, and could be ready to go right now if they call on him to return. And he's expected back "imminently". Every day we inch closer to All In, I'm becoming more skeptical that the plan is for Hangman to win next Saturday. I still think this story is designed to redeem him in kayfabe, but also give him another character trait of still not being able to move on and let go of the past and that it'll cost him. I can easily see a scenario where Swerve & Ospreay vanquish the Bucks and their EVP titles, and they both come out to counteract the Death Riders but Hangman won't accept Swerve's help and, boom, he loses. Darby returns in the Casino Gauntlet, wins, and thus starts the build to All Out (or Full Gear?) and the overdue payoff for all that from last year. I'm just not convinced, and I won't be until it happens. But if it does, it's not like I'll be mad. I love Hangman too. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't think Ospreay/Mox and Hangman & Swerve versus the Bucks is what they should've went with. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Ending 'ALL IN' with Mox retaining would be the worst shit ever. Not to give Vince McMahon any credit but he knew once upon a time that you end your biggest show with the top babyface going over. They've already done the "Mox wins because of interference" shit a bunch of times. Hangman has been built up like crazy. It's time for it to end. 3 2

What if they do something completely new and have Mox just beat Hangman clean? 2
Steventon Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I was very very on board with Darby being the one to dethrone Mox over Hangman, but the last month or so have really made it clear he has to be the one. They've literally built the entire main thread including Ospreay and Swerve around Hangman getting his redemption and saving AEW. They even had that promo from Ospreay where he said 'i thought i was the one, but it's him'. To go this far and not do it, on your biggest show, would be a colossal flop after all this time and effort into the Hangman redemption story. It'd be Brock Lesnar beating Reigns at WM34. What happens after ALL IN is going to be interesting. They surely must be fighting the urge to have Ospreay win the belt at Forbidden Door in London. But do they go with just Hangman vs Ospreay? Or Hangman vs Swerve vs Ospreay? Or am I just getting ahead of myself... 1 2
Casey Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I have to imagine ZSJ versus Ospreay is on the table for Forbidden Door. 2
JLowe Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Coach Tony K has to be smart enough to realize that all of this positive momentum they’ve had the last few months is due in no small part to the Hangman redemption storyline and the payoff. Anything other than Hangman winning clean at All In could be catastrophic unless booked absolutely perfectly. 1 1
Sublime Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Hangman is just a completely better choice as champ than Darby. I think Darby could be fine as a guy to hold the top belt for a bit but Hangman is a guy you build a promotion around and I don’t see Darby as that at all. Honestly I think the window of making Darby a top guy might already be closed, his whole Mt Everest climb hasn’t helped him cause if he had stayed around they could have built him to be the guy to take down Mox but instead the story has become Pages and has brought Ospreay and Swerve into it too and all these guys are better suited to be the top guy than Darby 4
username Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I pondered the opposite in a different AEW thread, but you also have to question the theoretical wisdom of having everyone who has come to work all year be used to build someone up for the guy who decided to take half a year off right when you make your big jump to Max and such. I love Darby (he's legit in my top 2 or 3 guys in the company) but I do think you kinda have to be careful with how you handle him in the near future for purely human nature reasons. 4
Lawful Metal Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Darby as a psychotic heel who hates himself for not being the one to take down Mox sounds fun 2
SovietShooter Posted July 3 Posted July 3 The fact that we are not 100% sure who is going over between Mox & Page is a good thing; It will add intensity to the match. But, AEW is playing with fire if Hangman doesn't walk away with the belt. And all the Easter eggs with Danielson and Darby recently give me a bad feeling. And now the stops for the Bucks/Ospreay & Strickland match aren't helping. I think Darby is going to return as a Death Rider and fuck Hangman. 3
Curt McGirt Posted July 3 Posted July 3 If you read what I just did you wouldn't think that for a second (see weekly thread)
Technico Support Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Hangman not winning the belt after this build is some Starrcade 97 shit and I have to believe TK is smarter than that. 4 1
Go2Sleep Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Darby/Mox doesn't need the belt. Let Darby do a Sting entrance to be the decisive guy to fend off all the interference and call it a day. 5

Totally agree. They sacrificed some ppl's affection over the course of this past year with this Death Riders run, but seems to me it's paying off. And will continue to pay off. Uncertainty is a beautiful thing in the world of Professional Wrestling. 1

It's a barely half-full baseball stadium with less than half the audience of last year's All In. Hangman is not the guy and never has been and never was. Powerhouse Hobbs, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay have already surpassed him. Hangman doesn't need to win. I don't know what's going on with Britt Baker, but if they have no plans to use her again, then you should cut her loose. This idea that not having her on TV or not using her until her contract runs out will hurt her drawing power or getting over if she moves to WWE is an utter fallacy. It's pure idiocy. Use that money elsewhere and let her go. Triple H doesn't have time to give everyone the big push. By the law of averages not all the former AEW people who go to WWE are guaranteed to break through, even in NXT. Look at Rusev. 1

The stadium isn't going to be "less than half full" by the time July 12th rolls around. We've been through this. Plus, it's already surpassed $2.5M in tickets. Dr. Britt Baker, you just said you don't know what's going on and then follow it up with a bunch of shit acting like you know what's going on. Also, cut what losses? Tony Khan is a fucking billionaire. Like he cares. As for Triple H, they are running SD!, RAW, NXT, AAA, Evolve and some other shit that I'm forgetting. He isn't booking them all but what we do know is most of them have been coasting for about a year now at least and nobody cares because Silver Lake is just selling out every tiny bit of soul the company had left in it. 1
