I agree the LU was over all solid with the sweet spot being end of season 1 through the beginning of season 3

i regretfully did not follow this thread because i've only seen season 1 of Lucha Underground. Seasons 2 & 3 are on my list, but never creep into top priority status. Hopefully soon, as s1 was a lot of fun, and i even got my wife to make a weekly commitment to watch.... and she enjoyed it too!

But i did read your s4/finale recap @SirSmUgly, and it was well written and hammered home why i appreciate your perspective even if i don't agree with every specific point: they are thought out, well articulated, and make sense. Reading your Nitro thread gave me insight into how you viewed this crazy sport, and there's a consistency in your preferences that allowed you to view a match, or promo, or backstage bit both minimally (as a stand-alone piece) and maximally (as in, looking at the decline of Ric Flair's mental health over years of storylines), but also being able to do that moderately independently to your thoughts on the performer themself. My brain doesn't work like that. I remember specific moments, could be large or small, just whatever resonates with me, and fuzzes the rest to 'make it make sense'. 

so i guess what i'm here to say is, thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. i look forward to reading individual episode recaps whenever i get around to watching the show.

Thank you so much, @SirSmUgly! It was great to read the entire story of Lucha Underground from start to finish. I had no idea that so much current WWE/AEW talent came through there.

watching with my wife doesn't allow me the luxury of analyzing in the same way, so that's not likely to happen. but, uh, go King Cuerno!

but i'm hoping by mid/late summer that i'll be starting on my AWA watch. Was planning on posting up about that, but still not sure what form it takes. (a lot of it will probably be trying to figure out airdates since all of these video files come from different sources). and since it's all mid/late 80s i'm sure it's just a metric ton of squash matches. so we'll see....

@twiztor I would certainly at least try to watch season 2 as its the strongest. Season three falls of a bit and season 4 is kinda like what ever due to the talent exodus but at least it doesn't hit the depths of having Antonio Cuerto start a "kiss my ass club" or anything like that. I've certainly sat through worse episodes of RAW.

yeah, my plan is for sure to watch s2 and s3. i'm pretty much a completionist, so i most likely will end up watching s4 as well. If i was watching this on my own, i would have finished it a couple years back. But my wife is not a wrestling fan, and despite enjoying this show, it is challenging to get her to commit to an entire season of this. But she'd also get mad if i watched it without her.

Cage and Mack had a couple of really good meat slapping matches in AEW

Cage is still healing up from his knee(?) Injury to my knowledge. I do hope he comes back soon though, I finally was warming up to him after all that time before he got hurt. The Callis Family at the time was a good fit for him.

Totally get it, Taya's also been active in ROH/AEW as of late with Johnny Insert Name Here and the MxM Collection whenever they're showing up.

 

Mack's most steady spot as of late has been hanging out with the Juggalos.

I know Mack was signed to AEW/ROH, too bad if he's no longer there. He deserves a fulltime spot in a major company.
