Dolfan in NYC Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 I feel a hot wind on my shoulder, And the touch of a world that is older... Turn the switch and check the number... Leave it on when in bed I slumber Hey everyone, looks like Tony needed to go directly to his coke dealer, er, um... go to have a vacation in Cancun... no wait... Says here, "To bring AEW directly to it's hottest and best fan base"... Hey sure, why not. But first... last week! I hear the rhythms of the music, I buy the product and never use it. I hear the talking of the DJ... Can't understand just what does he say? But, why do I your faithful admin have to recap the week when AEW does it for me? I mean, they cut off that last one right before something rather big happens... but okay. I'm on a Mexican radio... I'm on a Mexican radio! Esta semana... desde el DF de Mexico! DOS HORAS Y MEDIA DE AEW! Me imagino que Okada hara un picadillo del gringo Briscoe! (The Wall of Voodoo guys are a lot more... tweaky than I remember. Guess that fits with the average American tourist in Mexico.) Desfrute su semana! 4 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 I see your OG Wall of Voodoo and raise you the mighty CELTIC FROST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g13Qlh9btsM You have to give it to Tom and Martin. Not only did they make a cover that sounds almost completely unrecognizable, they had big enough balls to put it as the very first song of a record that would damn near divorce them from their own genre of music while at the same time stretching it far enough to give future bands reams of space to work in. And it's just SO WEIRD. 4
Technico Support Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 Quote I'm On A Mistico Radio @Dolfan in NYC hits this shit out of the park every week. 1 1
Nice Guy Eddie Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 If only I could find the clip of Kramer singing "I'm on a Mexican whoa whoa Radio" while reversing his peephole. 1 1
Matt D Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 Putting it here but I'm halfway through last night's CMLL Show. Red Velvet vs Persephone: very little heeling from Red Velvet which has been her recent strength. The fans were very much behind Persephone so it's a bit of a shame. The actual action was high on effort but some kicks didn't land like they should or didn't miss like they should. Velvet seemed to have some trouble with the ropes at one point. I think if she had leaned harder into her recent heeling instead of trying to have the best match possible by other metrics it all would have worked better. More chances for her this week. CRU vs Munez Bros: Lio got the balance just right, stalling at first and leaning hard in when he had the advantage. Some really good spots. Some of the rapid fire stuff by CRU looked great (some things like the face slaps by Lio didn't look quite as good, but on the whole, it's a good act that fit in well here, Andretti too). They went to the topes twice which seemed a bit much even if the second set up the finish. Good showing overall. Hologram vs Neon: Tecnico vs tecnico spotfest isn't really my thing, but this was an excellent version of one. I haven't gotten to the main yet but I would have thought about making this a lightning match instead. It went 14 and maybe it needed those extra four minutes but I'm not sure. Lots of great spots. I couldn't necessarily tell you the underlying story here other that Neon wanted to hang with Hologram who was coming back to Arena Mexico to have a big impact and show out. And it was fine for what it was along those lines. It didn't have meat on the bone in the way I usually want (and you tend to get more so with tecnico vs even de facto rudo). Finish was spectacular with the absolutely brilliant spanish fly reversal. That's the sort of thing that should always lead to the end of a match (even to set up the Portal Bomb) and even then only a few times a year. Great to see Cabrera there. Just a fun atmosphere overall. 2
Log Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 Okada wrestling a match in Arena Mexico on an American wrestling promotion's weekly tv show is one of those things that would blow the mind of a 2017 wrestling fan. 4
twiztor Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 i can't lie, i'm actually very excited for tonight's show. Won't be able to watch live, but can't wait to check it out. AEW in Arena Mexico is such a cool moment. 1
COLETTI Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 I haven't watched live in a couple weeks, haven't even seen anything from last week but I will be tuned in tonight! 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 Did the Arena Mexico air and I missed it? Where are you guys finding it?

hammerva Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 Brody King wearing an Abolish ICE shirt. Much respect Hangman Page cutting a hell of a promo in Spanish. I was not aware he had that in his toolbox. 13
Niners Fan in CT Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 So that was a great way to spend 2.5 hours. Some really fun matches and the build to ALL IN is really heating up. -Hangman cutting an entire promo in Spanish -Crowd HATES Atlantis Jr. and pops by association - Mistico's entrance was unbelievable -Toni Sandiego suplexes Mercedes and all the belts go flying like Sonic Rings -Main Event advancing all the key stories as well 11
Zimbra Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 It wasn't the best Dynamite ever but probably the best atmosphere for a Dynamite ever. 6
DreamBroken Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 We got ME MUERO! Been wanting that ever since Mistico's first AEW appearance and this was absolutely perfect. Epic entrance and adds so much to his star presentation. Had me hoping he'd just go over instead of a DQ here. Definitely a highlight of the night. Awesome crowd/atmosphere for sure. Hangman's promo in Spanish ruled and I popped for Excalibur delivering his opening line with "it's Miercoles!" Lots of fun action all the way through. Dug the out of nowhere finish to Mercedes/Zeuxis. 2 1

I'm guessing Cash couldn't make it due to his felony. I wonder why Tazz wasn't there, though. Also missed Claudio! That crowd was pretty great, though. It also made my wife realize she's into the flippy bullshit (thanks Corny) more then she realized. I'm thinking of introducing her to more lucha-style wrestling as she enjoys "either that, or MEAT matches". Edited June 19, 2025 by The Green Meanie 2

He probably didn't make it just like Claudio & Billie Starkz had travel issues. It's a small miracle that more people didn't have issues given the political climate to be honest. 37 minutes ago, caley said: What was the deal here?! Why does the crowd hate him so much? Craig H Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 I swear to whoever, if Hangman doesn’t beat Moxley for the title at All In, I might actually be done. That seems so petty because the rest of the company is good, but this guy has been through hell and back, was an actual scapegoat more than Jack Perry, and he’s the lifeblood and soul of the company. There was something about that promo tonight that stood out more than a lot of things he’s done. I had no idea at the time what he was saying, but it felt special. Then I read the transcript and man, this is the guy. Fucking strap him up, extend his contract, and give him his bag. He has more than earned it. The only reason I have this doubt is that it feels so obvious. Kind of like Cody winning the title. It feels so obvious and they’re going to subvert expectations and swerve people. I hope it doesn’t happen. I guess that’s why we watch though, huh? 4 1
SirFozzie Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 I'd love to see Mistico vs MJF, Máscara contra cabellera style, but I don't think MJF will want a high profile loss like that, and of course, Mistico's mask is not something to drop casually.

I was thinking the same thing about it being "too obvious", but the first Hangman title win was the culmination of a year(s) long storyline and Hangman beating Omega was super obvious, but still the right call and TK still pulled the trigger. I'm hoping that is the case here because I agree with everything you said about Hangman. AEW needs him to be on top as the Champ 3
hammerva Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 I know I am showing Lucha Libre ignorance but isn't lucha full of "nepo babies". Granted alot of them end up being great and I believe Atlantis JR is more in "very good" category

Log Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 Brody King long-term Mexico excursion, please. Want to see him work like most of the CMLL roster. 5

AEW needs him to be on top as the Champ The great thing about any kind of storytelling is that, when done right, it’s supposed to be obvious or at least things are supposed to end up where the setup is leading them. It’s not like a murder mystery ends when a heretofore unknown character shows up on the last page and says “oh yeah I did it.” A few years of Russo really damaged us as fans. Brody King and Hangman are the best. AEW is the best. God damn. 7
hammerva Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 (edited) So according to Sean Ross Sapp, MJF was attacked/confronted by a fan at the hotel near the airport. Given that it is Mexico and given the level of heat that Mistico match got, I don't think this is a work The only problem with a MJF vs Mistico mask vs hair match is that I am not sure anyone wants either result. Unless they are going to do the "it didn't happen in Mexico so it didn't really happen", losing his mask is terrible for him. And frankly I can't imagine what bald MJF would look like Edited June 19, 2025 by hammerva
