Dolfan in NYC Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 The World Cup kicks off a year from today. ...you know, assuming.
odessasteps Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Still undecided about going to any matches. Not going to the Club WC even with $4 tickets.
hammerva Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 (edited) I am not sure what is worse right now, the fact that the US teams especially on the men's side are so bad or that given how our government is acting now by the time the World Cup happens the stands will look like a Sabrina Carpenter concert with entire groups scared to death of going Edited June 11, 2025 by hammerva
odessasteps Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 I heard a discussion today on the Libero pod that many Hispanic communities are canceling their watch parties for games for fear they will be targeted by ICE.
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 The CWC is going great, btw... Tickets for today's Fluminense vs. Chelsea semi-final at MetLife had their prices dropped from nearly $400 to $13.
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 14, 2025 Author Posted July 14, 2025 The President of the United States, who refused to leave the field as Chelsea was celebrating their CWC championship.... announced today that Chelsea would not be getting the trophy for the tournament as he is keeping it.

Well, he actually said they told him to hang on to it, he asked when they'd like it back, and they told him to keep it as they were just going to make a new one. He's not holding a trophy hostage. The actual problem with this story is people keep giving him things. Stop giving him things. 2

At risk of turning this even more political, give him one more thing. A fine set of jewelry, one for each wrist, connected by a chain
RIPPA Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 I am gonna ignore everything else around it and just say that draw will take place in Washington DC at Noon (EST) on Dec 5
Marcel Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 2026 FIFA World Cup first limited ticket sales underway - ESPN The first chance to apply for tickets is open through next Friday. Be warned - that $60/ticket minimum won't apply to the US. Rumor has it that the group stage US matches will run $500 for Category 4 (nosebleeds). Good luck.
Contentious C Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 On the very very bright side, there could be enough boycotts and forfeits that maybe the USMNT could win! Easily their best opportunity to ever do so.
odessasteps Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 I want to go to any match less and less every day. On the bright side, looks like Israel prob won't qualify, so that can of worms can be avoided.
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 26, 2025 Author Posted September 26, 2025 The President has stated he is considering pulling games from cities like San Francisco and Seattle because he deems them unsafe. Those cities voting against him in the last election had nothing to do with this decision at all, mind you. Also... I have no idea if he has the authority to do this. But he sure seems to think he does.
odessasteps Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Remember when FIFA made countries basically change laws for them to host a World Cup. The good old days of Sepp,Blatter.
odessasteps Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 La Grange playing before the England game in Latvia, awaiting the arrival of the Von Erichs.
RIPPA Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 A different World Cup but I am putting it here US Soccer formally announced a co-host bid for the 2031 Women's World Cup. The joint bid is the US, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica The bid is uncontested and is expected to be approved in April of next year The UK will be getting the 2035 Women's World Cup as the joint bid of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland was the only "valid" bid And with that - we are officially in "Jesus - I hope I am alive" territory
SirFozzie Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 England will be going for a unique feat in their final WCQ: An undefeated set of qualifying where they haven't given up a single goal yet: 7-0-0, 20 Goals for, 0 Goals against
SirFozzie Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 After the 2-0 win by England over Albania, the perfect qualifying campaign has been completed (8 games, 8 wins, 22 for, 0 Against). With 8 flawless victories, England will now take on the end-game boss, Cyber-Akuma..
