🎼 Summertime and the living's easy... Bradley's on the microphone with Ras MG...

Though I didn't mention it in the other thread, running an overrun in a 4 hour show is diabolical stuff.

😎 All the people in the dance will agree... That we're well-qualified to represent the L.B.C.

BUT... we now know we have a winner-take-all (not a unification!) match for the Inter/Continental Championship(s)!

🏖️ Me, me and Louie, we gonna run to the party and dance to the rhythm, it gets harder...

But that isn't for like a month!   What about this week??

Well, it's  a blockbuster of a week!

GtAc0TAWoAE_DBz?format=jpg&name=large

Woo, looks fun!

(I didn't want to burn off Sublime quite yet, and I do actually like this glamorous, somehow even more chill, cover of this song.)

Enjoy the week!

Listen, I don't like to generalize based on arbitrary generations, but there are two things that I'm angry with millennials about:

1. The claim that Hocus Pocus is a good movie.

2. The claim that Sublime was a good band.

Both patently false.

Anyway, show looks fun. I got mixed up and thought the CMLL show was this week.

If I were introduced to Sublime with 'What i Got' I would totally agree because I would have never dipped backwards into their earlier catalog. I hated that song and the repetition of it blasting from everywhere made me (kinda unjustly) hate Sublime. But that was the end of the run for me. Their first two albums were staples of that era and feature some pretty outstanding tunes  - Ebin, Date Rape, New Thrash, Pool Shark etc. Songs etched into golden memories that still sound pretty goddamn excellent. Still, 'What I Got' makes me wanna agree.

It still feels wild to me how that band became defined by that song and the post death swell of millennium fandom. They felt like a significantly cooler band when their 40 oz to Freedom cassette was the ‘underground’ rage. Everybody that loved them then was hiding their love and fandom right around that aforementioned shitty guitar solo.

Damn Log,that hurts. The Sublime, not the Hocus Pocus.  Still fondly remember the days of a Sublime chain wallet, Eminem hair and a limp bizkit shirt.

Will/Swerve should be bonkers. Toni/Julia should be fun. Wonder if Mercedes has another steak.

Sublime isn't a 'good' band by any definition but if the prospect of sitting in a plastic lawn chair on a hot summer day drinking cheap beer listening to 40oz to Freedom doesn't get you at least a little excited I probably don't fuck with you.

* Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay
* Toni Storm vs. Julia Hart (Mercedes Mone on commentary)
* The Hurt Syndicate vs. Speedball Mike Bailey, Komander & Kevin Knight
* Tay Melo & Anna Jay vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford
* Kyle Fletcher vs. Anthony Bowens
* Thekla vs. Queen Aminata
* Mistico returns
* Kenny Omega & Kazuchika Okada contract signin'

I did about 3 1/2 hours live last week, and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent. Fun solid action and a pretty good pace. Exhaustion set in that third hour, but I really liked watching that last portion a day later. Tonight's line-up looks pretty good. Stoked for Ospreay-Swerve 2. Curious how Thekla-Aminata plays out. Who takes a loss from Mistico? I'd be pleased with Blake Christian, and some time. I'll gladly take Gringo Loco too. What does an Omega-Okada talkie sound and look like? I trust it won't result in more after school shit stories. Toni-Julia could be fun. Hurts-Bailey/Komander/Knight will certainly be trying to steal the show. I'm not sure I need more Anna v Bayne/Ford, but very much looking forward to Tay's return. Fletcher-Bowens will be a good test for the Pride of Pro Wrestling. I like that match.  Okay, let's go!

I'd assume someone from CMLL that would make him look good.

Man, I'd love a Mistico/Mortos match, but that is probably too Rush-adjacent for CMLL.

The version of "What I got" Reprise version is infinitely better than the radio version with the shitty solo. This one has a much better solo in it.

As for Dynamite, I thought most of it was a good show tonight. Didn't expect Okada to swerve everyone and join up with Don Callis. The Don Callis family is getting to Jimmy Hart Army in Memphis levels of membership. The new name for the Unified Championship sounds dumb...especially for two lower card title's.

Swerve vs. Osprey started off slow but really picked up as it went along. I did like the post match beatdown even if Moxley is phoning it in right now.

Later in the show the beatdown of Hangman Page was good. But again Moxley is phoning it in. They should change this world title match to a Texas Death match just to give them an excuse to use a lot of plunder and blood.

I only made it up to Toni Storm's match. God I hope Mone doesn't win but I fear she will.

Hangman is fucking awesome.

He is awesome at wrestling.

He is awesome at arson.

To be fair, going from The Elite to the Don Callis Family is a huge upgrade.

I didn't care for the new belt, I think it's due to the International and Continental belts being so squareish seeing a round one replacing it was a little jarring. Someone else mentioned it looked too much like the old Women's title as well.

I really enjoyed Yuta's evil henchman laugh.

Ospreay/Swerve ruled as expected. The draw was the logical finish, though I wasn't thinking of it until of course the commentary started talking up the remaining time.

Mistico/MJF setup was fun. Still can't stand stokely and don't feel he adds anything to FTR's act. Good to see the Workhorsemen back.

Pretty great build up for Okada/Omega all around with the history video and later attack.

Really loved Thekla/Aminata, that was my favorite match of the night after Ospreay/Swerve and thought both looked awesome there.

It was a fun 2 weeks of 4 hour mega events. Next week we get a 2 hour & 30 minute special.

That ending to Thekla/Aminata was weird. She totally no sold the submission finish and just rolled out of the ring and walked away. Real big Austin Aries energy, lmao.

I called Okada joining up with Callis over on the EWB board. That stable is reaching all time status for talent involved, what a fucking murderer’s row of wrestlers my god.

I’m finally getting into this Hangman storyline. I still feel like making up with Swerve should happen before a World title program, not running adjacent to it, but whatever, I’m here for it. AEW Avengers assembling at All In to beat Mox will hit like crack.

The AEW Unified Championship. My thoughts:

  • Glad there's a unification but...
  • The belt is too small. Reminds me of the AEW Women's World Championship V1.
  • Don't like the name. Hopefully it will change like the AEW All-Atlantic Championship to the AEW International Championship.
  • The crown from the AEW Continental Championship is there on the main plate but nothing from the AEW International Championship. I hoped the new belt would be more an amalgamation of the two.

For sitting around besides almost all the first match (which I was surprised they gave away on free TV, but it is AEW after all) and the last match, I really did not watch/pay attention to much of this show. It was to where I had to turn back to see the Omega blood-vomit because I heard Tony say something about blood. BTW, it is nice seeing someone finally use a telescoping baton as a weapon in wrestling; if you have another example let's hear it.

- Did watch the six-man with Hurt Syndicate and some of the Mistico match. Mistico is starting on a gut and getting slower so is he reaching lucha middle age, like Hermanos Dinamitas "popular but useless" range? We all know that lucha is real good for old old old guys that can still kick ass but just as much for relics that hang on forever just because they get a pop. Which will Mistico be? Is he indeed still "Sloppy Sin Cara"? We'll see. Anyway the tag was fun. MJF's bullshit is way better in a tag match; "One in, one out!" from him was inspired. Mascara got pitched like a sack of potatoes. Bobby bumped for an invisible knee which will look great on Botchamania.

- Adam Cole said "I give full condiments" on commentary.

- Who would have thought in 2025 we would have Stokely Carmichael in a ring with the Revival and two generations of Atlantis, talking about their interactions with Edge, the Rock'n'Rolls and Nigel McGuinness. But again... this is AEW, after all.

- Mone heard about the dishwasher steak so she gets a raw hunk of salmon for her meal tonight instead.

- Poor Mortos loses again but he gets a good pop for entrance and good heat for mask pulling. And guess what: A move that is enormous enough to end a match actually ENDS A MATCH! How often does that happen these days?

- Sleazy sneaky Yuter I can get behind.

That's all unless my recordings worked properly, which it looks like they didn't. This show felt like it flew by in comparison to last week.

Got home right before Collision started so I'll be catching the Dynamite portion later.  Toni/Julia was fun and I'm glad Skye Blue is back with Julia.

Bowens gets crazy height for his Rocker Dropper. Kyle barely bent down.

It's gotta be pretty cool to be a guy like Blake Christian and find out "Hey, you're wrestling Mistico and get to take like 60% of the match"

Omega went damn near full Charlie with the blood capsules and I respect it.

Nice to see Tay back but she badly needs a new finisher.  Play up the judo background and give her a cool scarf choke or something.

I liked Hanger's tribute to this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QODD6RqIAQ

Skipped the last two hours but might go back for Bandido/Mortos
