Note: this includes the 1899 Cleveland Spiders, the usual futility record holders. They won 12 of their first 60. Then went 8-86 the rest of the way.

"It's OK, Randy, we forgive you for faking a back injury and tanking half a season to force a trade".

Apparently - they wanted to retire Ichiro and Randy's number at the same time (since they were both 51) but Randy said he wanted Ichiro to have his own day, that is why Johnson's isn't happening till next season

The Angels became the first visiting team in the history of Fenway Park to hit three HRs in the first inning of a game

Side note - since returning from injury, Mike Trout looks like the best player in baseball again

Braves have brought back Fredi Gonzalez.

He will be the third base coach replacing Matt Tuiasosopo

Manfred will propose the ABS system be implemented in the Majors.

It's expected to pass and begin usage in the 2026 season.

Well this certainly explains why I have two cases of this stuff in my house.

I'm not sure but I think this is pretty good:

Over his last 11 starts, Detroit's Tarik Skubal has 95K and 3BB, a 31.67 K/BB ratio.  He's the only pitcher in the last 125 seasons to do that.

He's averaging 11.3 K/9 and 15.00 K/BB for the season.  He's had 13 starts this year and has had 0 walks in 8 of them.

That is nuts.  Amazing control for a guy with a power arm.  Hope he continues to perform well.

The Padres beat the Dodgers so bad yesterday that the Dodgers - because MLB won't allow them (try as they might) to carry 49 pitchers - used Kike Hernandez for the final 2 1/3 innings

Even funnier - he only allowed 3 hits and 1 run

It was the earliest a position player has ever taken the mound in Dodgers history

LA did technically abide by MLB's new rules to limit position players pitching as you have to wait till you are down at least 8 runs but you have to believe MLB isn't thrilled about their golden child blatantly tanking games now

Imagine explaining this image to yourself at the beginning of the season.

The Rockies won in a walk off Thursday night to avoid the worst start in the modern era

Instead their 13-55 record is tied with the 1932 Red Sox for worst
