Dolfan in NYC Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Oh the heads that turn, make my back burn... And those heads that turn, make my back, make my back burn.... Last week, a Beach Bash! This week... Time for Double or Nothing! Wait, does that mean two beach bashes or none? The sparkle in your eyes... Keeps me alive. And the sparkle in your eyes... Keeps me alive, keeps me alive! Of course, lots of stuff happened last week, not the least of which was the power of friendship helping Jon Moxley retain his prize. (Sierra... Hotel... You know the rest.) And the world, And the world turns around... The world, and the world, yeah, the world drags me down... This week... before the PPV... a confrontation! (Sorry, but this really looks like the poster for a rom-com movie.) (This came up on Spotify the other day and this thread title just stayed in my brain for every second since.) Enjoy your Memorial Day! 1
Curt McGirt Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Thanx for reminding me I needed to download all of the Cult stuff. And yes, that is just like a rom-com 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I'm gonna be generous and say that it looks like those two are going to be competing for the love of a woman and Will is playing the fuck boy role. Hangman learns to lighten up, Will learn to take life (and love) a little more seriously and the underlying focus becomes their friendship while the romance takes a backseat. Curt McGirt Posted May 21 Posted May 21 So which women's wrestler is the one you put looking up at both of them from below? You know you could photoshop it.
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Anna Jay. Harley is her quirky best friend that both guys treat as if she's unattractive. 1

Will saves her from Hungee who's trying to explain the blockchain while a Morgan Wallen song plays at an inexplicably high volume. Hangman is too busy outside yelling at Swerve who beat him in flag football earlier that day. This writes itself. 1 6

HarryArchieGus Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Quote * The Young Bucks & Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs * Julia Hart vs. Mina Shirakawa (Toni Storm on commentary) * Mercedes Mone & Jamie Hayter go face-to-face * Hangman Page & Will Ospreay go face-to-face * MJF officially joins the Hurt Syndicate That 6 man is gonna totally rule. I'm curious of Julia v Mina, and Toni commentary always ends up being the highlight of the night. Mone-Hayter F2F listing reminds me a little of how I felt going into all those repetitious Jericho Townhalls. That said Hayter is underrated on the mic, and I'm here for the match regardless. Not sure we really need another Ospreay-Page F2F, but both know how to work the stick, so I'm game. The MJF/Hurts segments have been hit and miss, but I'm pleased to see the audience is interested. I love the run AEWTV is on. Here's hoping Albequrque is rocking. 1
hammerva Posted May 21 Posted May 21 So are we expecting MJF to be murdered tonight or are they actually going put in the group?
Technico Support Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) In a misguided attempt to fit in, MJF shows up dressed like Akeem and is summarily thrashed by the Hurt Syndicate. Internet wrestling fans who think every group of black wrestlers is just Nation of Domination 2.0 don’t understand what Bob was so mad about. Edited May 21 by Technico Support
Cobra Commander Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Things I Remember from this episode of AEW Dynamite: Collision, special night, special network quite a bit of talking at various points I didn't watch the entire MJF segment but it's my understanding that babyface Sammi blows Ricochet vs Briscoe should be fun Samoa Joe just hiding to attack some guys as we got the traditional schmozz before the multiman match at the next show Gabe Kidd looking like he ripped his look from Mike Ehrmantraut
Curt McGirt Posted May 22 Posted May 22 It was a go-home show. I came in at the end of the opening promo and when Ospreay was going through those names and finished with "name it", until I saw the subs (which are always a little late) I thought he said "Maven" and was like "there's no way" The other funny bit with subs tonight was "the Hurt Syndicate" turning into "the Hearst Syndicate". I was not interested in the six-man because of the Bucks (and it was real long), I was not interested in the MJF angle because of MJF, I was not interested in Bowens/Ricochet because of Bowens and Billy Gunn (isn't it weird how they split the Acclaimed into Good Wrestler and Bad Wrestler?). It's nice that they're intentionally or unintentionally doing a tribute to Sabu with a stretcher match. I want an RVD run-in now. The main was just fine and the brawl-out was too. Again, it was a go-home show.
Curt McGirt Posted May 22 Posted May 22 To be a bit positive, I bet Komander/Speedball vs. Rush/Dralistico on Saturday is gonna rock. 2
Gordi the BJW fan Posted May 22 Posted May 22 (edited) Why isn't Gabe in Anarchy in the Arena? Wasn't that run-in to set that up? Are they Kidding? Gabe us hope then tore it away! Now I'm a mad man, you know? Edited May 22 by Gordi the BJW fan

Curt McGirt Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Thank you! I missed the traditional 20x speed Excaliber read-through of the card tonight.
Casey Posted May 22 Posted May 22 8 minutes ago, Curt McGirt said: What is the Speaking Out deal with Kidd again now? Sid Scala sued Mariah May over what she said about him during Speaking Out, and Gabe Kidd defended him on Twitter and said Mariah was ruining people's lives. His friends (Ospreay) hand-waived it away as mental health issues, the tweet was deleted, and it was never brought up again publicly. 2
Nice Guy Eddie Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I really hope that using Gabe Kidd won't cost AEW Mariah May. I'm holding out hope that Mariah returns during the Toni/Mina match. 1
Curt McGirt Posted May 22 Posted May 22 So that's the story with Ospreay too, he's two degrees of Kevin Bacon away from Speaking Out. I got it now, thanks. 1
Casey Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Just now, Curt McGirt said: So that's the story with Ospreay too, he's two degrees of Kevin Bacon away from Speaking Out. I got it now, thanks. Ospreay had his own things to worry about, although none of them were him being named in Speaking Out for hurting anyone or anything like that. The whole Pollyanna saga, him & Bea basically bullying Sadie Gibbs off a Stardom tour which led to Bea & Sadie having a backstage fight at All Out 2019. I wanna say he's apologized/explained his side of things for both situations, though. 2
Curt McGirt Posted May 22 Posted May 22 (edited) I can't keep track of this shit. I don't even know who some of these people are. EDIT: Oh, while I was in the shower ignoring the Mone interview, I realized that Chicken's music didn't really remind me of Down, rather it reminded me of Eyehategod. Which is pretty fuckin cool in my book. Also, I always expect a luchador to come out when I hear Mina's music start. Edited May 22 by Curt McGirt 1

Ospreay seems to be in the habit of defending creepy UK male wrestlers when they do or say something creepy so I think that's just who he is, sadly. 1
