It's "Current Superstars call out Hulk Hogan" day, apparently. Not only Becky Lynch, but also Shelton Benjamin have dissed him today.

Hogan, in an interview to promote his Real American Wrestling thing, he said lots of Amateur Wrestlers have star quality, and cited Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and "Benjamin Shelton" (sic). He also said he was the first wrestler to face Lesnar after Lesnat left the UFC, which was obvious bullshit.

So on his twitter, Sheton said:

Anyway the first time I remember watching ANY wrestling was Taker locking Warrior in the coffin, and Jake getting Taker bit by the snake, so it's no wonder why I ended up liking this shit. If Taker wasn't a heel for not trying to kill in an "airtight coffin" then you were probably the heel.

Rousey's downfall was pretty spectacular to watch in real time. When she first showed up in Strikeforce, i chalked up her attitude to being laser focused and just a no-nonsense kind of person. Her moving to the UFC shone a brighter spotlight on her, and it really exposed her personal flaws. By the time she got KO'd by Holly Holm, i was looking forward to seeing her get her comeuppance (but i'm a Miesha Tate fan, so maybe there was also some bias). And everything that spun out of that loss was just fascinating to see the psychological crumbling of her person. I truly believe that she had spent SO long defining herself by her success and by 'being the best', that when she was so utterly humbled by Holm that it broke something inside of her brain. One of those "if i'm not the best, then who even am i?" kind of existential questions that she couldn't answer.

and that's not even getting in to her other opinions and Sandy Hook truther bullshit.

She was a fascinating combination of incredibly popular but completely and totally unlikable.  It isn't even like someone like Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor, who are actively trolling, she seems to be genuinely unlikeable.

That's when I stopped watching WWE. I did want to see Lynch vs. Rousey, but had no interest once Charlotte got inserted into the match.

She has to be a heel if they bring her back.  The only problem is that I don't know if she has the charisma/acting chops to be an effective heel on purpose.  Another thing that got her super popular in the UFC that won't work in WWE is she was seen as the most attractive woman in the sport.  No woman in WWE can get over for being good looking.  Pretty much every woman in the WWE is the best looking woman in the room to somebody.  They have a murderer row of really good women's wrestlers who also happen to be incredibly good looking.  She walked into a situation where the bloom was off the rose after being best looking, most charismatic woman in a sport where no one is really trying to be the best looking most charismatic woman in the sport.  She walked into a company where everyone was better at the job, just as, if not more good looking, and far more charismatic than she was even at her best.  It's actually pretty amazing she was as successful as she was, despite the fact that she kind of failed.
