I don't know why they wouldn't just move half these names to TNA, as several of them already worked recent TNA shows.

Because WWE doesn't own TNA? They can't just move people over that easily like they do, and I'm sure TNA's budget only goes so far.

I mean, what else was there for Big Show to do after getting destroyed by Triple H, Rock, Brock Lesnar, Kane, and Undertaker? They kept him around for the better part of 20 years. There is always value to a guy like Strowman.

Meanwhile, Omos, a guy they've kept signed and haven't booked on TV for a year is still there.

Yeah, and that's why Show was always "The Giant who's just around". And Show was actually a pretty good to great worker, and Braun isn't. He's also a big dummy.

Well we know why they got rid of MetaFour because Jakara Jackson has been released.

This is criminal.  Jakara Jackson was a perfect example of someone busting their ass,  improving their in-ring skills, presentation,  etc. and finding herself as a character and then she's gone like nothing.

Obviously bad news for all those guys & gals, I have sympathy for all, but mostly for the NXT people who got paid buttons to appear on live TV.

- I'm not that surprised with regards Dolin (Priscilla Kelly). I like her look personally, but she's no Paige/Saraya in terms of charisma/workrate, and she didn't really seem to be improving. Actually surprised Jacey Jayne didn't get cut too.

- Cora Jade (Elayna Black) did surprise me a bit, but Roxanne basically took her spot. Hopefully Punk doesn't delete her phone number and she comes back after a bit of seasoning/retooling.

- People seemed to think Dakota Kai (King Kota) was always on the brink of a push, so presumably they see something, but I could never see it personally.

- Shayna Baszler (erm Shayna Baszler)...yeah in another world she would have been a monster heel, didn't happen and it is what it is. Wouldn't surprise me if AEW bring her in to work with Shafir, and maybe Kai comes along for the ride.

- Jakara Jackson (Jamara Garrett), Orah Mensah (Oliver Carter/ Mr. Exotic Erotic?!). To be honest, I loved Meta-Four so this upsets me though yeah I can't really say that either showed massive potential. Idk Orah was Swiss.

- Wolfgang and the Coffeys, I mean nothing against them but I was amazed they made it to NXT USA nevermind the main roster. I guess the thought was that they might eventually team up with McIntyre but not sure that would do much for Drew.

- Carter/Chance (Lacey Lane/Katy Catanzaro). Yeah they had their chance and nothing happened.

- Strowman (Adam Scherr). Yeah it's hard to really argue with that one. Obviously he still had value as an utility big guy, but idk - when they gave his most over spot to Breakker, the writing was on the wall. Felt like he was never quite one of the boys. The most interesting thing they did on his 2nd run was the Ricochet pairing, but it never really went anywhere - having him as Bald Trev's Heater in AEW could work and if he digs through old DVDVR posts he'll find a bunch of alt names he can run with. I personally think he would be a decent pickup, as whilst big meaty men slapping meat is hardly central to AEW's style, it has its place and he can supply it adequately enough.

- I barely paid any attention to Eddy Thorpe (Karl Fredericks). Maybe that means something, maybe it doesn't. Back to New Japan?

- Similar deal Javier Bernal (Randy Beidelschies). He's 26, only wrestled in NXT/Evolve as a job guy, maybe he can get some opportunities elsewhere.

Yeah, capitalism sucks but I can hardly take major issues with these releases. Though I probably would have released Liv Morgan before she ever got to the main roster, so what do I know?

I'm mostly just pleased that they didn't release The Secret Hervice and Pretty Deadly.

One thing from last couple months, if you are part of LGBTQ community then don't pick up the phone in the WWE any time soon.

It was pretty jarring two or three years ago, when they did a big Pride Month promotion by putting all of their NXT LGBTQ+ wrestlers (and most vocal allies) all on their rainbow Capitalism poster, and then everyone who had been on that poster was released 5 months later.

Isn't Shayna another of those who have seemingly been released and re-hired multiple times or did she just have nothing to do for long periods of time?

Loool I had no idea Cora Jade was Elayna Black.  I remember she was pretty decent.

No sympathy for Strowmann, fuck that guy.  Start a Gofundme, you buffoon.

I just heard someone today asking where Theory had been.

He's been benched. What poisoned the well for Theory was his verbal burial from John Cena.

He was part of the Jey/Gunther build with a few weeks ago.

He and Waller were also in Vengeance Day against Oba Femi a couple months ago.

He also competed in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. He was benched after that.

Days like yesterday make it extra-unfortunate that TNA has given up on being a competitive 3rd promotion in favor of being a WWE proxy. Used to be a solid landing spot for people WWE/AEW didn’t want, but now they’re slashing payroll and using NXT scabs to fill out their cards (presumably cleaning up their books for a sale). A lot of these releases are REALLY gonna have to hustle to make ends meet, if they can even stay in the business at all.

There's not enough TV time between AEW/WWE to feature all these people and I'm in no way advocating for MORE wrestling on TV from those two companies.

AEW ran into some problems when they were trying to put new or different people on AEW each week.  Viewers complained and they arguably lost viewership because of that.  AEW has improved the quality of their shows by focusing on the stars they already have.

This is why I liked AEW Dark because it gave others a chance to develop a character and wait their time until they could be slotted into the main programming.

For WWE,  because the focus is still very much on 20-minute in-ring promos, etc. you're just never going to have enough time to feature more people.  It's not in their DNA to do so.

Strowman helped Fatu and Reed look amazing and put them over big time. Seems like there is a lot of longevity and value in being a giant who is always around. Case in point, Strowman was routinely getting booked up until he was cut. Not like he was stuck in catering.

I remember really liking Bea Priestley when she showed up on AEW a few times back in the early years. I wouldn't mind seeing what she can do nowadays.

Real shitty way to break up Meta Four on screen by saying they're all going their separate ways, just to immediately cut two of them.

either that, or it's a very meta take for all four to literally end up in different places.

Dani Palmer has also been released. From her Instagram post: "It's a bittersweet feeling to be officially closing out my athletic career, but I can truly say I went til the wheels fell off..literally lol. "

(she underwent two hip surgeries in early 2024)

I enjoyed her performances and thought she had very good intuitions about playing to the cheap seats. She stood out in the NXT gymnast corps by somehow slowing down some of her flips and tricks. I will wonder how she would have fared on main.

(she also posted some nonsense conspiratorial things in Instagram stories that she seemed to really believe, so that dampened my willingness to enjoy her performances quite a bit. )

If the rumor of Theory is true,  it will be interesting if they actually break up A Town Down Under after a year and half of teasing it ot just say fuck it

The ones that really bum me out are Jakara Jackson, Oro Mensah, KC2 and Dakota Kai (who i like, but who seems kind of fragile and was really hurt by Asuka and Kairi going out with injuries themselves.)

I was never a huge Shotzi fan, but I also didn't dislike her. I felt really bad for her spending a year on the shelf with the knee and then coming back as the third wheel on a tag team.

Theory should definitely be trying to get a Dragon Con table if it isn't too late, and to get booked on the wrestling show at the con--his hometown crowd will go nuts for it. Others have said he could come back bigger after some time in other promotions, and I can see that.

I really wouldn't want to be a non-Dempsey member of NQCC, which sucks because I like them all. I still absolutely do not understand why they put Sinclair 90% on the bench after her awesome showing at Deadline. I also really wouldn't want to be anyone who graduated from LVLUP to Tuesday, and then ended up on Evolve (Crusifino is already probably dead in canon; Gallus and Osborne are out, there's also Wendy Choo, Brinley Reece, Kendal Gray and Carlee Bright.)
