I have to quote this just to pass on a story told to me almost literally decades back. An online friend of mine ended up working security for a WWE TV show and the main thing I remember is him telling me about MVP (probably a year or two after his debut) literally walking back and forth down a hallway trying to remember his lines. It wasn't even particularly long (it was just some walk to a door/enter/talk to someone deal) but he saw them have to tape it multiple times as he seemed to overrehearse it so much that he legit screwed himself up and just could not get it right (or at least give them what they wanted).

So yes, he legit is not a fan of memorizing stuff, and for good reason.

Yes, he's much better at just yelling shit, extemporaneously, over people to the detriment of everyone else in the segment.  No planning or memorization required, there.

  • Segment where the Hurt Syndicate had a promo battle with Big Bill and Bryan Keith, where he kept cutting them off and yelling insults over them until they just looked like dorks.  Way to build a program.
  • Segment with MJF last week where he would not stop yelling at the fans for cheap heat.  When you're in a segment with MJF and you're the one trying too hard for heat?  That's insane.

  • the first time with Bill/Keith, where one of them said something to the effect of, "i don't see any challengers in front of you" and MVP responded with "neither do i" was harsh but fantastic. Everything after that was overkill. Seriously not far off from the Rock/Billy Gunn "Bob" "but my name's Billy" "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS" promo that completely killed Mr. Ass's push.
  • i remember thinking the exact same thing. stealing MJF's gimmick right in front of him.

So I was doomscrolling Twitter this morning (yeah, I know) and happened upon a tweet about the Weekly Pro Wrestling supercard that was put on in the mid 1990s, Bridge of Dreams. The show is in full on a certain archival website, so that's not a part of this question since I can watch it.

But how many of these supercards, whether it's interpromotional stuff or just a big group of promotions holding one event (ie AJPW vs AJPW on the same card as NJPW vs NJPW etc), are actually readily available to watch online? Whether it's a streaming service or free somewhere.

(preferably free lmao)

EDIT: So in doing a small amount of research on the site I mentioned, the only ones I can't find (on said website anyway) that Wikipedia lists are the various WCW & NJPW supercards, the WWF one with All Japan & New Japan, and a 1999 indie card called Break the Barrier. The last one only sounds interesting because it's got Tom Brandi being the big winner of the night (lol what) and Shane Douglas quitting ECW on the show.

I'm sure there are other interpromotional cards/supershows, though.

ok, i've never heard of this, but i NEED to watch. luckily it's available on YouTube.

in answer to your question, the first thing that popped into my brain was the 1996 World Wrestling Peace Festival (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt412DmmoNU).
Are you counting stuff like ECWA Super 8 tournaments? Brian Pillman memorial show? the Brian Hildebrand tribute show? i don't know that they're readily available online in 2025, but you used to be able to find this stuff fairly easily. Actually i'm not sure about the Mark Curtis show as i don't think i've seen that one.

I remember the Break the Barrier show being a big deal when it happened back in 1999. It was being promoted as the first big indy supershow (I believe the people who ran Scoops Central were the promoters) and was supposedly one of the inspirations behind starting ROH.

FWIW I think the NXT event sold more tickets than one would have expected against the AEW ppv... but I also think they could be got as part of a package deal with either Raw or SNME so idk.

I don't remember what the packages were but the Tuesday NXT show didn't sell enough so they moved it back to the PC. Granted 4 shows in the same place is a bit much IMO.

Ah, I was going off this bit from an Observer daily update right before the shows:

Quote

While NXT was ahead in tickets sold from when each show went on sale (NXT was part of a package with Saturday Night’s Main Event and Raw, both of which sold out), the AEW show was at 7,801 this morning and NXT was at 7,248.  NXT’s secondary was very weak. AEW’s was okay. Last night’s WWE secondary market was super strong.

There are probably wrestlers that are insane enough to think that they could find a way to work a match without being able to grip anything.

What I mean by that is.. probably Kurt Angle if he could get away with a match where he does schtick and soft mat wrestling for 10 minutes before going to book his 73rd surgery with Dr Jho

Danielson has said he had trained on how to work a match without using his arms, I think this was in his time between being active in WWE and going to AEW

I passed by the vacuum store again earlier today and got another look at the ancient, yellow sign in the window -- the kind where you fit the plastic letters in the grooves, like an old fast food restaurant or movie theater, or just some shit on the roadside. It read something like: "X VACUUM CLEANER, 10 YEAR WARRANTY" and below, "SURRENDER TO JESUS, LIFETIME SALVATION" 😄

And yeah, Seth is his top performer, not an accountant

Most local business got something like that on their signs. But then a town of under 5k with 200 churches I am not surprised.

I had a chance to announce at Break the Barrier, but I thought that showing up as a Joey Styles lookalike at the ECW Arena wouldn't be a good idea.

SRS is reporting that Mariah May is going to win Money in the Bank.

(well, not really, just that she's gone from AEW and joining WWE imminently)

Is Dick Togo the most versatile wrestler of all time?

If not him, who?

Terry Funk, over the course of his career.
