I also learned a ton of stuff and I'm really glad I watched it, but it's devastating. They replay a bunch of them every time there's a new one coming, so there's that. I got to know Shan the last few years of her life. She came into a bar & grill I worked at pretty much every day. She was an incredibly sweet soul. I'll be skipping this episode but I hope the world gets to see what an incredibly beautiful soul she was and how dirty the wrestling business did her. 11 2

This is like a foriegn concept to younger people (especially when driving which bothers me as someone who drives for a living) It's odd cause our game night group is Me-hitting 51 this summer Her-turning 40 this fall two sisters that was 40 and 38 then a couple that are 31 and 29 But yea I see it all the time. Will be at a Indie show and half the crowd is looking at their phones instead of watching the matches. 1

Once we figure out how to float a ring the plan is a match on the lake. Have faces come to the ring in boats from one side of the lake. Heel from the other. Got 2 feds willing to do it. Just figuring out how to float the ring.

I never saw much of Daffney's career. But once Caleb Konley was on screen tearing up it hit me. Known Caleb for a few years now and had no clue he dated Daffney. GF was watching it with me,and she saw almost no WCW and only watched Attitude Era WWF. I thought we were gonna run out of tissues. Odd fans...Now this guy has said he was at a few shows I was at on the coast. He keeps leaving comments on any Angel Camacho match i post. Wanting a mega cut of Angel sitting on people. Or beating up refs. Then some jackass, that looks llike Francis from Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Percy Pringle had a kid, gave this oddball my email and cell number..... So it was emails and texts "What if I give you 5 bucks next show can you make a 10 minute video of clips of Angel sitting on people?" Another odd one was a guy that showed up wearing a smoking skull austin bucket hat and a red lucha mask. When he came in none of the guys had made it to their tables yet. He walks over. Offers his hand. OK yea shake hands. Gives me the softest handshake ever. I looked at him a second gave his hand a small squeeze. He was/is a huge XPW fan. Was asking if i had XPW vhs or DVDs. Told him nope. Did tell him about the XPW book Jonathan Barber wrote, yea it finally got published. "I can only read SPanish I AM A LUCHADOR" and walked off. During intermission I was about to leave to go take a smoke break. He walks over. "Hey did I tell you who trained me?" Nope. Sure I couldnt see this dude's face but I'm guessing he was at the oldest 25. "Yea Louie Thezz,Gorgeous George and Cowboy Bob Kelly trained me." I looked at him thinking how the hell he knew who Cowboy Bob Kelly is. "Good group of trainers. Be right back gotta hit the pisser"and walked off. But yea for all the oddballs and annoying ones I meet there is 10 that are great. For example I am one who rather not do shit for my birthday. Sit at home read a book watch a movie and have a decent meal and i'm happy. Somehow folks found out when my birthday is. There was a show in town the day before. I got so many gifts and cards. And this is from people I might see 3 to 5 times a year tops, and mostly only at shows. 2

Usually once a week some of the promoters I know will get a message about a match idea. And it is rarely hey Book Polecat Pete vs vs the Mississippi Methbilly. More like "Hey how about a filabuster match. 2 guys come out flip a coin, who ever wins goes first. Gets handed a mic. If the crowd stops reacting to the promo you stop and pass the mic. If you make it 5 minutes you get a point. First to 3 points wins." or "N64 Goldeneye SLAPS ONLY Tribute match. Only thing allowed is chops. Match ends with pinfall or someone says HEY THAT IS ENOUGH" 1 5

Was this when Continental was really struggling to sell tickets? This absolutely sounds like one of those "shit, what's the worst that could happen? We actually draw fans?" ideas.
odessasteps Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 I asked Beau about it and he said they ran that deal every year in Foley Beach, Alabama. And it was in the Gulf not a lake. Which might explain why my searching was coming up empty. 1
caley Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 https://youtu.be/QXlqF7g-tjU?si=cwIUwUIWY2a2SgSu How was I not aware, until today, that Goldust was once on Conan O'Brien, in character as a guest. It goes...it goes about as well as you'd think. 3

ChesterCopperpot Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Per Wrestlenomics - New Orelans will no longer be hosting Wrestlemania next year You'd imagine Indianapolis will be a big favourite to host the show after the deal they signed.
hammerva Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 I am sure Indianapolis is a great place but going from New Orleans to Indiana feels like getting tickets to a Detroit Lions game and seeing the Michigan Panthers on the field 3

hammerva Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 The other thing that is funny about New Orleans not getting Wrestlemania is that it is another thing the Rock promoted and hyped up that ended up being absolutely nothing 3

Log Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Listening to the CZW vs. ROH episode of Way of the Blade. They mention the legendary "Super Dragon monkey-flipped a fan" thing from that era. Wasn't that fan allegedly someone who posted here?

SirSmUgly Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Aw, I like Indiana. I think it's a fun place to fly over when I'm headed to an actually desirable destination. 1 4
Zimbra Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 One of my favorite hacky jokes: I won a contest for a free week in Indianapolis. Second prize was two weeks. 4
Cliff Hanger Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 I lived in Indy from like Aug 99 to Feb 2000. Actually an even worse place to be a non-driving disabled person than Houston or Austin, and when I was thinking "it'll be nice to have a real winter" I was thinking like my childhood in Little Rock, where we'd have snow on the ground for a week or so. First time I walked a dog in a proper snowstorm I figured it wasn't for me. 1
