that is an awesome premise. Whether or not it would work as a full movie and/or series is another story, but the setup is pretty great!

I just watched this Will Ospreay interview where he mentioned he hates working the hard camera. Alot of what he was saying made sense. Even to someone like me who watches way more WWE. He talked about the WWEs storytelling approach to wrestling. I doubt Ospreay ever goes to WWE because I don't think he would want to work in alot of the confines and I understand it. Him talking about how the WWE house style would hinder him reminds me of when WWE would bring in someone like Butch Reed or Dibiase from Mid South and they'd be a lesser version of themselves. I watch way more WWE than AEW but I was excited that Ricochet went to AEW. Same with Mercedes. I love to see especially with people like Mercedes that barely spent to much time on the indies and spent most their career in WWE take a chance outside of the WWE element. If Sasha hadn't walked out of WWE , she probably would have never had a chance to work in Japan and work against people that she would have never got the chance to in WWE. Last week the only release that really bothered me was Jakara Jackson because I feel like everyone on that list except Strowman who probably doesn't have to take a bump again to earn a living will get consistent work in wrestling if they want. Kacy Catanzaro is probably the only person that probably wont continue outside of WWE. Jakara Jackson was really actively showing improvement even uptill the last time she was in the ring. She was getting a ton of ring time on all 3 shows the last 9 months. I really hope she continues. I saw a post where she shouted out Kenny Omega as an inspiration so that kinda gave me hope that she'll continue

I always thought the NOAH in Pro Wrestling NOAH was just an unnecessary capitalisation of certain words/names like the Japanese like to do. I mean, besides the obvious actual meaning of being an ark away from All Japan.

They should do this with the Million Dollar Man gimmick.  Re-do all the classic promos, except this time everyone has a way higher price than before, and he just don't have that much cash on him. 

I'm all in on both of these ideas.

It is funny how things change over time - in every territory there’d be a main eventer claiming to be a socialite playboy when in reality they’d maybe clear 50 grand a year; nowadays no one on the main WWE roster talks about money and the lowest-rung worker likely earns over 300 grand.

Not for nothing, but $50K in 1975 would be like $306K today. 

And for context, Pete Rose only made $375K in 1975, and he was one of the top sports stars in the US, on a championship team.

So if a wrestler was holding down $100K a year back then, it was a pretty good chunk of change.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. NOAH is the short name used on media.

 

Like AJPW, NJPW also changed their logo in the 00's and kept the Inoki-Ism era logo. It's not the exact same logo they used in the 90s.

The NJPW company was sold to Yukes and Yukes sold NJPW to Bushiroad few years later. So same old company from the 1972, but subsidiary of Bushiroad Inc. or 株式会社ブシロード. TV Asahi and Amuse Inc. and Kidani by himself own some shares of NJPW. NJPW is the oldest active Japanese professional wrestling company.

Going back to the Butch Reed question, who is the wrestler who we underrate the most based on the fact that most people only watched their WWE/WCW work?

I honestly think that Rick Martel is probably the best babyface worker of the 1980s (yes, including Ricky Steamboat, who was fucking awesome), but Vince didn't like the way he talked so he never really had a face run as a singles wrestler in WWF.  By the time he got to WCW, he was old, and his body quickly fell apart after showing he could still go against the right opponent.

Mike Shaw was a darling of the dirt sheets as Makhan Sing in Japan and Canada but was Norman The Lunatic in WCW and Bastion Booger in WWF

Underrate the most is a wide open question, but we all underrate guys like Koko, Reed, Duggan, JYD, Rose, the Sheephearders..  shit, the field is huge for guys that just showed up for the payday with Vince or Crockett.

It doesn't help that Kevin Sullivan got really unprofessional one night at a Clash show and just started shoot whooping his ass as someone who is probably all of 5'6" or 5'7".

Without knowing Shaw’s background, I can see Sullivan doing a number on someone much bigger than himself.
