hammerva Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Carolina was completely dominant in Game 1 and yet still needed overtime to beat the Caps thanks to great play from Logan Thompson and a ton of bad luck as they hit the post what felt like half a dozen times. The only major negative from the game (and apparently isn't new) is that their power play is almost the complete opposite of their regular play it is so timid. Losing the home ice I don't think is that major as I expect they will win one of those as well. But game 2 needs to be completely different
hammerva Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Man if you are Edmonton, you are devastated bad enough to lose a game 3 that could have pretty much clinched the series, it happens in the last second on one of your own players
SirFozzie Posted May 12 Posted May 12 don't look now, but the Florida Panthers owner is going full scale Florida Man on x... EEK
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 12 Posted May 12 6 hours ago, SirFozzie said: don't look now, but the Florida Panthers owner is going full scale Florida Man on x... EEK What he tweeted was horrific and unjustifiable. Full stop. He's also not the owner, he's a partner. Vinnie Viola is the titular owner.
RIPPA Posted May 13 Posted May 13 And Caps fans were enraged that Carolina was the favorite in this series Oops…
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Fun little stat, the Panthers top 8 scorers are all tied for first. They all have 8 points.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I admit I don't know THAT much about hockey but 17/23 players scoring seems okay.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Again... I'm new.... But Leafs fans throwing their jerseys on the ice... is that good?
odessasteps Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Would never bet on the Leafs to anything right, but I wonder when the last time was 3 of the 4 teams in the semi final were Canadian?
Dewar Posted May 16 Posted May 16 My guess is never. During the 80s, there was only Canadian teams in three divisions, so Toronto, and then Montreal/Quebec, and Winnipeg/Vancouver/Edmonton/Calgary would have all needed to make the final four. Toronto wasn't very good back then.

Dolfan in NYC Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Not sure if this is accurate, but Marchand is apparently the first player in NHL history to win 5 winner take all games against the same franchise.

elizium Posted May 19 Posted May 19 At least one of the games went right this weekend. Back on the Paul Maurice bandwagon with the Jets out 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 19 Posted May 19 One thing's for certain... I doubt we'll be hearing a particular chant again: 1
Tabe Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Game 1 of Carolina and Florida and we got - an elbow to a goalie's head (surprisingly NOT done by Florida), an elbow to the head after a late goal that followed multiple slashes before the goal, a puck intentionally shot at a player, and a whole host of other cheap shots and dirty incidents. Poor officiating all around as well. Gonna be a wild series.
odessasteps Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I’m not too fussed about who wins the Wales Conference, unless Carolina wore the whalers throwbacks for a game. 1
Tabe Posted May 23 Posted May 23 5 hours ago, odessasteps said: No close games in these conference finals so far.. Eh, Dallas/Edmonton was close most of the way. Edmonton led for 40 minutes and it was 4-3 with 4 minutes left to play.
odessasteps Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Florida is winning so handily Dolfan isn’t even bothering to post about it. 1
