Death Riders v Opps should be a helluva tilt. Takeshita v Ospreay comes with some lofty expectations. I doubt they'll have any trouble meeting them. I also suspect Mercedes v Athena will be a whole lotta fun. Hanger v Wild Card is the dark horse. I'd love to see it be Josh Alexander. I definitely want to see Alexander v Hanger. It could also be Jungle. I probably like that match more than most. Interested to see how back to back nights work out for them. I've enjoyed the Dynamite/Collison 2 night concept in a live capacity a couple times now. Three if I include a Saturday Night Collision and the Forbidden Door. 'I want to watch it come down'. My guess for Wild Card is Perry, then Jarrett, then Swerve. I don't think it will be a wrestler like Alexander or Alexander coming in as I don't think they'd be slotted to beat Hangman and I don't think debuting them just to lose in their first match would be a great idea. Only way that would work is if someone screwed him and made him lose but I don't know who would currently slot in there. Plus I don't know how much the crowd would pop for them and I think they would want to do something to get a reaction. My dream pick would be something kinda silly from the WCW days as a jab at Bischoff since the card already has two main event level matches so they can fuck around with the WC, someone like Buff Bagwell but I dunno if they'd make it that silly. I'd laugh though. 1

I'd laugh though. Yeah, I totally agree, but I kinda assume Hanger's getting screwed regardless of who it is. He's totally headed for that Elite Riders-Omega/Swerve feud. My mind keeps wandering to an Alexander-Ospreay match in the tournament final. It'd make for a pretty solid debuting month for the Walking Weapon. All that said, I must admit, I've sensed a number of things that have not come to fruition. Edited April 16 by HarryArchieGus
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 17 Posted April 17 That might have been the best Dynamite ever. No hyperbole. Holy shit. 16

ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted April 17 Posted April 17 GREAT Dynamite tonight. Great matches, great atmosphere, great booking. Digging the Bucks return so far and the intertwining of various storylines at the top of the card, good stuff with them and Hangman. Liked Alexander joining Callis. Liking the MJF/Hurt Syndicate story and tonight's segment was probably the best Most stuff is clicking right now. I know the draft is coming up but the booking gets better when the NFL season is over. It's a pattern now. 4

Curt McGirt Posted April 17 Posted April 17 This is another of those half-watches because I just cannot pay attention anymore, besides the following criticisms: What I'm really not liking about this show is that every single match has a super obvious winner. Tony is unwilling to give any surprises in his booking title matches or tournaments. There was no way those brackets were anything but how they ended up. This last men's match can go either way and that's the only surprise? Okay. But they probably aren't redoing Ospreay/Fletcher so fast, so even that is kind of a non-starter of an argument. From what I watched of the first two matches: 1. Bombs and reversals, then 2. Bombs and reversals. Stiff work in the first one but you know my complaints there. I guess Alexander starting is cool, but Callis will be an albatross probably. It was funny that they bleeped/blanked the first 'Fuck' in "Fuck Don Callis" and then just... stopped, hahaha. I really kinda fucked up not watching much of the tag match because it was HOSS AS FUCK. But then Max came out and it's just like... calling Papa H, pickup on Aisle AEW. He sends out a bunch of hos. Lovely. If they break up this team over fucking Maxwell Jacob Friedman then I am throwing something through the TV screen. The Takeshita match was really just the Will Ospreay Show again. Show off how athletic he is, how fast he is, how high he can jump, then go into the reversal bomb finish that lasts five minutes too long. Takeshita got in like nothing until that finish started. "I was speaking Canadian so you wouldn't understand it" was a great Callis line though... and he had a cosplayer in the audience! I wonder if dude used makeup pencil to do the scar. Moxley enters the arena off the bus, which he had to spare change to get onto, and they have the match. Nice switch to have Hobbs, but again this felt predestined despite all the loldeathriderswin endings. They had to knock them down a peg sometime. Nice celebration? I dunno, just not a fan of this one. Boy was that announce desk tall.
Curt McGirt Posted April 17 Posted April 17 *looks at prior posts* Uh, well. Difference of opinion. 8
just drew Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Holy Shit. Not an ounce of fat on that TV show. That was fucking spectacular. The Alexander debut, Ospreay and Takeshita having the match of the week on fucking Wednesday (no one's touching that, don't kid yourselves), I thought Mercedes and Athena were really, really good. The Hurt Syndicate was tops, as always, but I thought the "hoes" segment dragged a bit. Shelton popped me a couple times, though. Then that main. Holy. Shit. That main was AWESOME. I'm probably the biggest Death Rider Rider on this board, but even my balls were tingling when Hobbs showed up. good to get the trios titles on a team that can focus on them more. And that crowd. My God. There's been a lot of talk about "restoring the feeling." THAT was the feeling. The roster TK is building is truly breathtaking. Adding Alexander and potentially Michael Oku is, as the kids would say, diabolical work. I love that Tony Khan didn't respond to Nick Khan's absolute nonsense by tweeting or doing a press conference. Instead, he put THAT on free fucking TV. Congrats to TK on defying the odds and officially having the longest running wrestling show in the history of Time Warner. Suck a turd, Bischoff. 8
tbarrie Posted April 17 Posted April 17 The wild card turning out to be Some Guy was a bit of a letdown. But I think I've seen his name thrown out here as a possibility, so I guess some of you know who he is? The rest of the show was fine. When they announced the six-man was the main event as opposed to Mercedes vs Athena, I figured either we'd get a title change or the women's Owen match would be a time limit draw. Or both.
The Natural Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Samoa Joe has now won the AEW World Championship, the AEW TNT Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship. 3
EVA Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I felt like Joe choking out Mox to win and setup a World title match at DON was clearly the move here, but the Death Riders Derangement Syndrome is so strong, I couldn’t believe it until I saw it. 5
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I want to give a shout to how good the commentary is. That's a general comment, but it's consistently good and they don't get enough flowers. I never watched Josh Alexander in TNA/Impact (or anywhere else for that matter). I always thought he looked like a dork in the headgear when I saw pictures of him. Almost immediately they note that he had a Cauliflowered ear that had to be re-attached and he wears it to protect it. Good, informative commentary. I instantly went from thinking he was a dork with an amateur wrestling gimmick/Rick Steiner fetish to "oh fuck that's gnarly" and my respect for him immediately shot up. I don't know if he can talk or not, but being Canadian and with his look/gimmick he feels like a natural fit with Callis' group. I dunno 7

Craig H Posted April 17 Posted April 17 This show fucking ruled from start to finish. THAT’S pro wrestling motherfuckers. Everything was awesome. The setting was cool as shit and looked like people were hanging from the rafters, every match delivered, all of the story beats were great, Mone and Toni had a hell of a moment on top of what was a great match, I’m really surprised the Hurt Syndicate made it that competitive, HANGMAN MOTHERFUCKERS, Ospreay vs Takeshita was great even if they had to take a little bit off their fastball to do that match on tv and to both stay healthy, HOBBS IS A CHAMPION, JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU, SUCK IT BISCHOFF. 7
Curt McGirt Posted April 17 Posted April 17 [jimcornette]I don't know why he didn't just leave the ear off instead of sewing it back on, it'd be a great wrestling look[/jimcornette] 3
Curt McGirt Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Reading everyone else's opinions and remembering it's the "WE BEAT BISCHOFF" show, I'm unsurprised he gave everybody what they wanted tonight. That's just fine. Apparently, it worked! 3
Nice Guy Eddie Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I loved everything about tonight's show. I have to ask, but did Moxley tap or did he pass out in the choke? I couldn't tell. If he tapped, I'd like it to be a source of dissension between Moxley and the rest of the Death Riders. Ultimately, I'd like to see Claudio stand up to Moxley, getting tired of his crap. Oh yeah, fuck Eric Bischoff. 4
Curt McGirt Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) MLW Battle Riot is on BeIN Sports right now haha That just amuses me after this one tonight EDIT: Especially since HECHICERO IS ON MY TV RIGHT NOW. Court Bauer beats Coach Tony Edited April 17 by Curt McGirt
Kevin Wilson Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Not much else to say that hasn't already been said, TK 'read the room' and gave a crowd pleasing show. The live crowd was great, every match delivered. Even the little things like the Hangman/Okada interaction were well done. I think Ospreay/Takeshita was better then any match on Dynasty, which isn't meant as a knock on Dynasty, I just thought it was a fantastic match. And clearly they didn't care about ending on time as the DR did their usual slow ass introduction at 9:57 PM. Great stuff. 5
The Natural Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I'm not sure we get Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe at Double or Nothing. I think it'll be Death Riders vs. Opps, Anarchy in the Arena. That, Will Ospreay vs. Hangman Adam Page in the Men's Final of the Owen Hart Cup and Mercedes Mone vs. Jamie Hayter in the Women's Final of the Owen Hart Cup. 1
