At times, he was the perfect fit as a spark of the bench, and his mastery of the dying art of the entry pass made life easier for Jokic. But at other times he looked a lot like, well, the last few years where he might put up numbers, but he hurt the team overall.
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Orlando is trading... *Cracks knuckles* KCP, FOUR (!) 1s, and a pick swap on a 5th 1 to Memphis They will receive Desmond Bane.
RIPPA Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 Here are the specifics on the picks Quote Orlando is sending to Memphis the No. 16 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Phoenix's first-round pick in 2026, plus its 2028 and 2030 unprotected first-round selections, sources said. The pick swap is lightly protected in 2029.
Contentious C Posted June 15 Posted June 15 That's a lot to give up for Desmond Bane. But, Mikal Bridges' 3rd/4th-best-option-ass reset that market.

Exactly the deal it made me think of. From a short term on court standpoint, it's a good move. They need a guy who can shoot and pass and defend, and KCP kinda flopped last year. Just like the Bridges deal made sense from how it improved the team. But Christ that's a lot to give up. If that's market value for a good to very good player like Desmond Bane, what the fuck is a fair price for Giannis?
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Well, the price for 36 year old Kevin Durant is apparently multiple 1's and multiple young players. Miami, San Antonio, and Houston have all allegedly put in offers but Phoenix isn't thrilled with them. Minnesota is apparently the one that's negotiating the hardest right now.

I'm absolutely convinced that Denver would have been his ideal situation during his prime. He's the super hero version of Jamal Murray. If there was an alternative timeline where they drafted Westbrook and Gordon where they drafted Murray and Porter Jr., this team would be in the middle of a dynasty. Westbrook's biggest issue is that he's no longer good enough to just out athlete everyone to success. He's still close enough that he still tries to do it, but he's just not the same guy he was in his prime. He was really important to Denver this season, because they needed someone who could fill multiple holes because of the lack of depth on the bench. I stand by my notion that if you were making a list of all-time great players, Westbrook would be the hardest person to place. He's definitely on the list, but he's the kind of player who can do almost everything at an elite level on any given day, but he's also someone who will lose you games trying to do too much. He's the guy who dragged Bradley Beal and the Wizards to the playoffs because he wasn't going to allow them to act like a bunch of bitches, but he's also the guy who didn't trust Kevin Durant enough to defer to him in big spots. Some times he's a hero who went out on his shield and other times he's LLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Apparently Durant saw the rumors and the leaking went up fast because Shams says he has "no desire to play in Minnesota." He apparently despises cold weather.

And he's six years older than Giannis, has a somewhat concerning injury history, and at this point is, while still very good when healthy, clearly a lesser overall player.
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 17 Posted June 17 It seems Phoenix may need to come to terms with Diminishing Returns Durant
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Indiana is trading the rights to Mojave King and their 1 from this year to the Pelicans. In return they'll get back... their 1 from 2026. (NO acquired it previously)

hammerva Posted June 22 Posted June 22 (edited) so Houston should be thankful for the Desmond bane trade because yeesh that feels like a fleeing by the Suns. But I guess that depends on what you think of Jalen Green Edited June 22 by hammerva
Brian Fowler Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I like the move both ways, honestly. Green is good and keeps getting better, so long term that might hurt, but Houston desperately needed a clear cut go-to guy in the half court, and desperately needed a guy who can hit threes at both a high rate and high volume. KD solves most of their weaknesses, if he stays healthy. Phoenix gets a rising young guard with potential, a solid if imo overrated pest/defender, some flexibility, and hopefully can find a solid piece at number ten and at least one or two rotation players with the second round picks. They were never going to get the kind of package they sent out for Durant two and a half years ago, but Houston always made the most sense for them to make a deal with, and this looks like a decent reset.
ohtani's jacket Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I can't see this being any different than Durant's other stops post-Warriors.
RIPPA Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 Kris Middleton - realizing he isn’t getting this type of money anywhere else - has exercised his 3 year $33 million option with the Wizards
Contentious C Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Jrue Holiday headed back to Portland, this time for Anfernee Simons and two seconds. The good thing about the deal is Simons' money comes off the books after next year. Guess we'll find out if he's coachable on the defensive end.
Brian Fowler Posted June 24 Posted June 24 It's an interesting move. I'm going to forever wonder if Milwaukee would've made the Holiday/Lillard trade if they had known Portland would send Holiday to Boston. Seems an odd move for Portland this time though. Holiday has functioned really well as a "last piece" but Portland is nowhere near one piece away. Unless they have another deal coming.
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Not really a surprise, but Halliburton won't be back until the start of the 2026 season. 1
