They kinda look like those dopey BP or practice bats that are supposed to help you hit the sweet spot. Either they get banned or everyone adopts them; there won't be any in-between.
Cobra Commander Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 you only get one bat challenge per game, so make the most of it because you'll probably only just get them to switch to an identical bat I think the technology exists that they don't have to cut the bat in half to figure out if it's solid or not, they can just X-Ray it
RIPPA Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 Rafael Devers becomes the first player in history to strike out 10 times in the first 3 games of the season So things are going well with him 1
RIPPA Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 I know it is only three games but Aaron Judge might be locked the fuck in
RIPPA Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 Again - it is only March but the Brewers have already used a position player to pitch twice in three games Ironically said position player - Jake Bauers - has yet to allow a run
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 30, 2025 Author Posted March 30, 2025 Pittsburgh is the first team in 101 years to be walked off in their all of their first three losses of the season.
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 30, 2025 Author Posted March 30, 2025 Also... I feel like we need to discuss the White Sox tarp
RIPPA Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Just to put a pin in the torpedo bat thing - here is just one of many articles that have been written about it https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44477141/mlb-2025-torpedo-bowling-pin-bats-new-york-yankees-taking-baseball Quick summary Bats are 100% legal Multiple players/Teams were already using them (other teams, like the Red Sox, tried in ST but didn't switch... yet) Aaron Judge isn't using one The Brewers closer is a sad baby The most interesting thing to me - at least from Passan's story Quote Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is owed as much credit as any player for the bowling pin revolution. Leanhardt's logic behind the bat's geometry made sense to Stanton, whose average bat velocity of 81.2 mph last year was nearly 3 mph ahead of the second-fastest swinger and more than 9 mph quicker than the average MLB swing. Even with outlier metrics, Stanton gladly embraced a bat that could make his dangerous swing even better -- and used it while pummeling seven home runs in 14 postseason games.
paragon11 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 O's News Colton Cowser to the 10-day IL with a broken left thumb (as a result of a head first slide into first). Out 6-8 weeks minimum. Dylan Carlson has been recalled from AAA 1
Raziel Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Id really like the Royals to light up the Brewers today so we cam shut the bat shit down. 2
Cobra Commander Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 my dad's take is that pitchers will start pitching inside to try breaking the torpedo bats which I guess is a more optimistic version of my prediction that pitchers will just rededicate themselves to throwing really hard in response to these bats maybe some of them will unleash rushjob cutters to try and break bats 1

Cobra Commander Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Royals up 10-0 on the Brewers at the 7th inning stretch
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 31, 2025 Author Posted March 31, 2025 I'm actually shocked it took this long:
Cobra Commander Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 if MLB was juicing the balls, they probably don't mind the bat story throwing people off the scent
SirFozzie Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Jomboy's gonna have a two part special on that Kentucky-Texas A&M game A bit of explanation: The SEC has a rule that on getaway days, no new inning can start after 4:30 PM, to allow teams to get back to school for classes. Kentucky was beating Texas A&M 10-5 in the 8th, but deliberately delayed the game before getting the third out so no ninth inning was played. Personally, I feel claiming the win in this way is a chickenshit maneuver, you're up FIVE runs. If it happened in the pros, there would be at least one fastball right at the small of the back of a Kentucky hitter. Probably two. 1
RIPPA Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 It was a formality at this point - but the Rays stadium agreement with Tampa is officially dead as the offer expired at midnight, March 31 and the Rays didn't submit any documentation to move forward with the agreement So basically the Rays are free to negotiate with any city to play their games in after the 2028 season (the current agreement with the city and team was set to expire in 2027 but it gets extended one year for every year the team doesn't play in the Trop hence why its now after the 2028 season) Obviously MLB is gonna have a HUGE say in the future of the team since Manfred keeps insisting that MLB wants a team in Tampa
RIPPA Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Lance Lynn announced his retirement Since this is the world we live in now - he made said announcement on the podcast he does with his wife

hammerva Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 I wanted to see what the Sacramento Athletics look like yesterday against the Cubs. Yeah it is kind of depressing to see a major league game in such a small stadium. It was full so that is good at least. And at least they have a pretty good scoreboard.
Cobra Commander Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 I'd have to watch an entire game but the first clips I saw had misaligned wall padding and an ambulance just outside the OF fence and I'd think somebody is gonna hit that ambulance's windshield with a home run if they keep it out there
