Seriously fuck that guy. Regressive homophobe trash out here dressing like Monty Hall, using boomer dad insults, acting all hard when there are probably 20 gay dudes in wrestling who could beat his ass. I didn't like that either, and it seems out of character given what we know about MVP's politics. I wonder if he just really, REALLY doesn't like Large Billiam. The only thing you said that I disagree with is that I thought his suit was fire. MVP seemed very annoyed by Bill's presence, and I thought it was telling that he didn't direct any vitriol at the Bad Apple. 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 27 Posted March 27 He called Keith Bill's "dog" and then when Bill said something about "bitch" MVP responded "I thought I already talked about your bitch". He definitely referred to Keith. Fun fact, MVP converted to Islam in prison and un-converted after he got out. 1

Bryan Keith turning and joining Hurt Syndicate would be interesting. I wonder how he looks in a suit. 1
Curt McGirt Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Ooof. Keith is way too indie for the Syndicate. They're more like a shooter group... or are a shooter group? He could be a gofer (their little dog?) but I don't see any other role.

I'd have loved for Bill to say, when MVP referred to Keith as his "girlfriend," "he's not my girlfriend but if we were in a relationship, why would that be an insult? Are you saying homosexuality is bad?" You know, really go for it. Or just play dumb, like "what are you trying to say?" Make MVP explain his homophobic bullshit. Edited March 27 by Technico Support 4
Craig H Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Not going to lie, I was a little put off by how much of the back and forth between Bill and MVP sounded like some shit you'd hear in an online shooter. But I'll give them credit for each not fumbling over their insults and each one of them sounding like they can properly talk shit even if it's pretty out of date. 1

I would find that incredibly entertaining. MVP (apparently) slapped the shit out of Chris Jericho over political stuff. I guess Jericho's wife was there for the Jan. 6th riots and MVP called him on it. I very much want to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I don't disagree that what he said to Bill was uncalled for. There's lots of heinous things he could've said without being homophobic.

So MYP invites MJF into the HS and they don't immediately contact him and go "Uh...no!" but rather wait an entire week for the next wrestling show before coming out and going "Actually we don't want him!" So these guys were just COMPLETELY out of contact with each other for a whole week?! I think my favourite thing of the night was when Blake Christian stuck his hand down his tights, then licked his finger and Tazz goes "Uh, that was kinda gross actually. It was really disgusting." and just seemed SO put off by it. So, do I have this straight? Aussie Open go on hiatus because Mark Davis is injured. Davis comes back and goes after Kyle Fletcher, verbally trashing him then teaming up with the Callis Family's enemies. Callis acquires (?!) Davis' contract and Davis is his reluctant heater. Davis is a less-reluctant heater. Davis completely forgives Fletcher and helps him. Is that it? The Joe/Hook/Wrestler group is really fun, really natural and entertaining together AND have a terrible name and terrible entrance music. Also they should be doing SOMETHING?! Going after Mox, going after Hurt Syndicate, going after Learning Tree. 5

I got a good laugh when Joe choked out Max and was like "it is fun" to Hook after Hook said it was fun choking him out on collision. But yeah they should be going after The Death Riders. Have we got Shibata vs. Claudio yet (AEW is annoying me so much I'm forgetting if matches happened or not). As for the rest of the show, it was all right I guess. Nothing special really happened. I was kinda shocked that Toni/Rosa vs. Megan/Penelope was the main event. I would have ended with the Swerve/Mox confrontation because that would have been a better way to go off with the chaos at the end. Marina vs. Willow should be a good singles match when it happens. And yeah I think that MVP/Big Bill promo was a bit uncomfortable. Like there was some real tension between the two. If that's the case fuck it, just use that. Would have been better than the old tropes of calling each other bitches. 2

HarryArchieGus Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) Great crowd in Minnesota for a solid Dynamite. Blake Christian-Omega was not what I was hoping for, but a perfectly fine Omega showcase that hinted at Blake's potential. The Omega/Speedball/Ric talkie was expectedly awkward, but quite alright. I so very much want Bailey in the Callis Family. Another solid Jericho promo. He's been good since the WO poll awarded him worst gimmick. High stakes for Bandy. I liked the MJF/Hurts/Bill/Keith segment. Lashley raising his fist to MJF was unintentionally hilarious. I liked MVP pushing the tag contenders to fight back. The beyond lame Magic Camera stuff later was more offensive to me than any of Montell's barbs. That said, I'd love to have seen one of the scenarios mentioned above by Technico or Pete. Brody-Fletcher was hard hitting and as excellent as expected. I loved the transition into Davis-Hobbs. The alive crowd for the start of that match was my highlight of the show. I'm not at all a fan of squashing Davis. Terrible finish. I'm a Powerhouse fan, but he still lacks the consistency needed to move to the top of the card. Good Nick Wayne promo. Where is this going? Loved that Hangman-Swerve exchange. The Rated FTR sitdown was very well executed. I'm intrigued to see how this all plays out. Especially curious to see how Christian becomes a babyface again to accomodate the potential tag feud? Solid response from the Death Riders/Deathriders. Wheeler here on the mic suggests he continues to quietly improve his game. Always nice to hear from the Bastard. The Swerve/Mox segment was good. Im not so sure they were actually listening to each other. I like Willow opposing Marina wherever needed, but wouldn't mind seeing her have actual matches again. Marina showed good intensity here. The Joe/Hook/Caster segment was fine. Instead of Excalibur telling us Shibata has a camera, show him commandeering the camera. Fuck the haters, I'm here for Max Caster. Good Jay White promo. Jay has really improved his mic game. The Top Flight squash felt out of place, but they looked good. And it was nice to see the reaction. Get to that Andretti/Rush feud already. Briscoe-Takeshita was every bit as great as expected. Commentary is so much better with Callis. The Rosa/Storm-Bayne/Ford main was pretty good and nicely set-up the title match. The promo leading in was the kind of masterful and hilarious mic work we've all come to expect from Timeless Toni. Bayne could really benefit from a manager. Ford hugging Bayne like a happy child at the end was odd. As is her insistance on licking her opponents. Penelope could benefit from cutting that weak standing moonsault into the pin. It never looks remotely good. I'd love it if they gave a reason why she and Bayne are a duo. Toni and Rosa had good chemistry. I Didn't think I'd ever be clamouring for more gold in AEW, but I think we're ready for some Ladies Tag Titles. Fun crowd, fun show! AEDub! Edited March 28 by HarryArchieGus 4

It's a flimsy explanation, but it's something. Callis got control of Davis' contract because Fletcher had power of attorney while Davis was hospitalized for a wrist injury. That checks both "Pro Wrestling Law" and "Pro Wrestling Medicine" off your Pro Wrestling Booking Bullshit bingo card. By the way, the free center space on the card is "talent doesn't communicate outside the actual shows." I like how they booked this after Davis had already come back and wrestled a tag match against Fletcher. Also, they went right past "Davis is an unwilling participant in the Family's hijinx because of the contract situation" as fast as they could because nobody cares about Davis enough at this point for him to be in a "Hercules as DiBiase's slave" angle. Lashley and Benjamin even reminded us of that this week, complaining to MVP that he sent them away and then invited MJF in behind their backs. I agree it's a stupid trope, but in this case they at least put in some narrative effort to try to make it make sense. So I'm inclined to give them a pass this once. 4

Jamal Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Good stuff from Hayter/Starkz in the main event especially with the Athena stare down at the end. Between this, Athena's issues with Mercedes, what's looking like another really good Owen Hart tournament, and the Bayne/Storm feud, the women's division is looking really good. 4
Niners Fan in CT Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Yeah the women's division is cookin. I was in and out of this show but from what I saw it was pretty good. Some solid matches and a lot of story line progression with key players. An eventful show. That's what Collision needs to be and they've been delivering that for us lately. 4
Casey Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I get that Athena is a great wrestler and all, but the difference between the internet hyping up her and this Mercedes match versus how the live crowd reacted is such a stark difference in realities. Maybe my audio was shit - I was watching on a tablet at work - but it didn’t sound like the place erupted or anything. If I’m wrong, I’ll own it, but if I’m right and the crowd really didn’t respond all that well… I dunno, maybe she shouldn’t be the one to beat Mercedes? But I also don’t think hotshotting this match onto the card next weekend is a great idea either. There was more to build up Mercedes/Billie than the match with Athena honestly.
