Coventry were literally in the play-off final 2 seasons ago, whereas Sunderland haven't been in the final since the 90's. That said, I do feel for Coventry, our own SkyBlueSam, and for Frank, who I'll always have a soft spot for for his time at Derby, haters be damned. That was probably the last time it was actually fun to be a Derby supporter. I stand by my earlier comments hoping for Sunderland to go up (proper club and Tyne-Wear derbies back in the prem) and wanting anyone but Sheffield United, who are just a waste of a space. 1

Both are so lucky the relegated teams: Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton are so shot or they'd be in a relegation battle. Last night: Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United and Aston Villa 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League before the Europa League final. 18th loss in the Premier League for Man Utd and 21 for Tottenham. Staggering numbers those.

The Natural Posted May 17 Posted May 17 This is the first time since 2016-17 Manchester City finished a season without a trophy.

HAMBURG. DERBIES. BITCHES. Those are great fun, unfortunately there is a number of idiots on both sides and quite an amount of police brutality that comes with those. While I'm happy with St.Pauli avoiding to go down, 32 Points probably won't be enough next year. We had a great defense, allowing only Bayern to conceed less. But our offense was the worst, 28 Goals in 34 games. Especially our home game Points tally tally is shocking. Next year we better improve. My adopted-home-city Club of Kiel went down as expected, although they put in a valliant effort. I hope they didn't overextend, but I thought they were a great addition for the league. 1

The Natural Posted May 21 Posted May 21 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c89px2308g4o UEFA Europa League Final: Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur tonight, 16th vs. 17th in the Premier League. Must win for both. I fancy Tottenham Hotspur to win even though there's two rightful terms: "Lads, it's Tottenham" and "Spursy". Two of my best friends are Manchester United fans.
Pete Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Playoff finals are set for this weekend at Wembley. Be there, etc etc etc. Championship, Saturday: Sunderland vs Sheffield United League One, Sunday: Leyton Orient vs Charlton Athletic (up the Addicks!) League Two, Monday: AFC Wimbledon vs Walsall
odessasteps Posted May 21 Posted May 21 That game should have been decided by a comedy own goal or something equally awful.Â
Raziel Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) I'm looking forward to next season's battle to avoid relegation.  EDIT: I'm honestly half wanting United to get relegated in 2026 just because getting dropped to the Championship might be the loophole needed to offload the really bad contracts. Of course, I'd feel better if we had a better owner than Ratcliffe who hasn't bought a sports team he couldn't tank yet. odessasteps Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I had no idea how to feel today as either side was good for schafenfreude if they lost. But its prob best that United's shoddy economic behavior was not bailed out by getting all that CL money.Â

The Natural Posted May 23 Posted May 23 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/clyq875gdngo Second round of job cuts at Manchester United. What a terrible club.
Raziel Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Without the UCL money and the bottom out prize money from the EPL, with their outstanding balances United has to be just about violating PSR and they don't have the league standing that City had to get out of a nuke. They're gonna have no Transfer budget and no reasonable way to sell the players they need to get rid of (no one is going to take on those wages).  Like, if this happened to any other non-big 5 team in the EFL they'd be in administration already. And honestly, the club probably needs a Rangers-level reset to recover.
Dewar Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Nobody needs a Rangers-level reset. They still haven't properly recovered from that. Not sure what United does next year though. They have to sell to buy, and there's not a lot of guys in that squad that anyone wants to take on. Maybe sell a few guys to Saudi?Â
Raziel Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Guys to Saudi is about it. United is overloaded with shitty contracts that even trying to sell guys at a loss they're not getting anyone not backed by the Sports Fund to deal with the wages.  I'm just wondering if they do fail PSR in July, does the FA just fine them or do they hit them with the 10 point deduction?
AxB Posted May 23 Posted May 23 How ironic. Manchester United, having colonised the word "United", are now going to colonise the phrase "Doing a Leeds". To the point that it probably won't be called Doing a Leeds anymore. Since the inception of the Premier League, the number of teams that have been in it throughout that history and never been relegated is vanishingly few. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton. And suddenly we're looking at the next Premier League season as one where 2 or 3 of those teams could be relegation favourites.
odessasteps Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Scuttlebutt is that a Saudi (not the PIF) wants to buy Millwall. Maybe United can see the women's team to itself like Chelsea did.Â
