Dolfan in NYC Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 I'll spare y'all the details, but the President and Vice President of the US attended the executive planning committee of the '26 World Cup and hoooooo boy. A *lot* of red meat was tossed out to the trolliest trolls and I'm hoping FIFA is... concerned. 1
odessasteps Posted May 6 Posted May 6 (edited) I will continue to predict the WC will only be in the US next year. Infantino will agree to whatever crazy scheme he comes up with. I mean, Gianni already gave him a replica trophy. Edited May 7 by odessasteps
The Natural Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Premier League: Southampton 0-0 Manchester City. A point here takes Southampton onto 12 for the season and means they are officially not the worst team in Premier League history. Still Derby 2007-08. Southampton were relegated with 7 games to play. Southampton bottom of the table. Terrible result for Manchester City and the race for top five Champions League spots. Sorry, Pete.
The Natural Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Southampton: 2 clean sheets in 47 before today the commentator said at the end.
Raziel Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I'm finding it hilarious that one of the two worst teams in the EPL NOT getting relegated are going to end up in the Champions League next season. 1

As a neutral it's really funny: Manchester United 16th in the Premier League vs. Tottenham Hotspur 17th in the Premier League. Both are so lucky the relegated teams: Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton are so shot or they'd be in a relegation battle.
Pete Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Hamburg are back in the Bundesliga after seven seasons in the wilderness... and St. Pauli are safe barring a 13-goal swing with Heidenhein on the final game day. HAMBURG. DERBIES. BITCHES. 1
sabremike Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Red Bulls killed the LA Galaxy with death last night in a 7-0 demolition. A 7-0 scoreline has happened 5 times in MLS history and we are the only team to do it twice (the other time was the legendary Red Wedding vs NYCFC at Yankee Stadium in 2016).

It's bittersweet since the Galaxy isn't really The Galaxy anymore.

This is true, it just would've felt better if the Galaxy wasn't the worst team in MLS currently, which is really odd they went from Champs to worst team in the league.

The Natural Posted May 14 Posted May 14 https://youtu.be/Tp0IsVkCAng?si=njdMq5zPqqvvJsmz 25 years ago Bradford City AFC beat Liverpool FC 1-0 in the Premier League 1999-2000 to survive relegation and stay up on the final day of the season. Of all the home games I've gone to at Valley Parade, this was the most memorable. Still remember this like yesterday!

Coventry haven't been in the PL since 2001, and I imagine half of the folks here weren't even BORN the last time Bristol City were a top flight club (1980). But sure. 1
odessasteps Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I mean, if we were hoping PL newcomers, I can’t wait until Millwall gets promoted.

Pete Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Meanwhile in Holland, Ajax are on the verge of a nuclear title catastrophe. Just over a month ago they enjoyed a nine-point lead on PSV in the Eredivisie, but since then they've gone winless in their last four matches while PSV have won six straight on the bounce. Destiny is in the Rood-witten's hands: win at Sparta Rotterdam and the title is theirs. OTOH Ajax need to beat Twente and hope PSV drop points.

I have a soft spot for Coventry City as Coventry City vs. Bradford City in 2001 was in the 2000-2001 Premier League. It was my first ever away game and the last Premier League game ever for both clubs on the final day of the season.
