Niners Fan in CT Posted March 22 Posted March 22 It wasn't clean but having Jade lose like that on a random SD! was a choice. I'm nitpicking because Triple H said that AEW didn't know what to do with her and we are now over a year into her WWE run and well.....

While it's miles better than the Vince booking, HHH's booking has been extremely uneven IMO. Not sure if it's a particular hot take, but I think HBK with NXT has put HHH with the main roster to shame. 3
HarryArchieGus Posted March 22 Posted March 22 (edited) I don't see quite see how the booking of Jade has been a problem or any sort of creative shortcoming. They protected her alongside Bianca and gave her a huge platform to shine. Then she comes back from injury and is moved into a nicely heated feud with Naomi. All while they mitigate her locker room heat. Any shortcomings feel pretty squarely on Jade. That match last night made clear that she still doesn't have much to offer in ring. The worst part of that Liv Morgan match was not her losing. Jade looked at times - out of place, unsure, and soft. These were all far worse problems than eating an assisted pinfall. Her pose spamming was unintentionally hilarious, and made even better when Naomi threw up her own Double BIs. Edited March 22 by HarryArchieGus

She tried to talk over Charlotte too much and didn't really have much conviction behind her words. This feud is really kind of showing that Tiffany may just not be ready for that top spot though they also had little choice with how over she is. Would help if they could at least push her as a heel, but we already saw that wasn't going to work either. Honestly this is a bit of their own fault as Stratton was pulled from NXT at least a year early, but its still a shame to see. Still hoping she at least beats Charlotte because a Charlotte win would probably only hurt both. I learned from that segment why ppl hate on Charlotte Flair. You don't sell your opponent as weak. She buried Tiffany a few times over in ways that did not sell their match. Stratton may have been hurt in that exchange, but it wasn't her own doing. I don't quite get the 'Tiffany may just not be ready for the top spot' in relation to this feud. It's been hot from the beginning and featured strong believable mic work alongside some very good brawls. Last week's brawl spilling over into the next segment was very heated. At 131 matches in, Tiffany's going to have some hiccups as she does. Nonetheless, she's clearly well over with every crowd (while still maintaining a heelish edge) and hitting her important spots like a star. 2
Curt McGirt Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I am really not watching when you put Flair or Jade on anymore. Giant Piper against Teeny Zelina was way better to spend your time with.

I think the match served it's purpose. It further fuels Jade's issues with Naomi, allows Naomi a moment to debut her new attitude and get her lick back, and adds yet another dastardly deed for Liv and Raquel. 1
hammerva Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Yeah that Tiffany/Charlotte did not make Tiff look good regardless of whose fault it was. It is painfully clear that they are in "Tiffany gets more over being associated with her" mode. took Ripley a good year to recover from that in 2020 1

Triple H also said THEY would train Jade the "right way" and she'd be ready for primetime. It's been well over a year. That's why I'm shitting on Hunter. He ran his mouth about the booking and her training and so far he hasn't done anything of note with her and she hasn't done anything of note herself.

It is possible HHH made that statement in good faith with the intention of training her in a more traditional way in order to have her be able to do more than the one dimensional squash matches she did in AEW. Over time all involved might have done their best in preparing her, but have just realized they're only going to get so much out of her. 2
blitzkrieg Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Will say that I was a bit disappointed that the Street Profits seemed to lose the edge they've had in the past couple weeks last night. Sure Tez didn't seem to be doing great with the grills in his mouth but it did seem like they came out and were the old Profits just with new music.

Stratton needed to show actual confidence and passion during basically any of that exchange, and Charlotte's words wouldn't have mattered. The Tiffany is not ready stuff is purely in relation to her as a character. She just isn't sure who she is currently and has yet to really step up as a result. Also Charlotte isn't coming up with any of that shit on her own. I don't really get blaming her at all other than its easier to ignore the bad writers/booking behind it or Tiffany's own issues coming into play. I dug last week's brawl, and if this feud was just that it would be fine. Edited March 22 by Eivion 1

Typical "I don't like the wrestler so the booking/scripting must be their fault" nonsense, similar to how Roman Reigns used to get bashed constantly for the lines he had to deliver. 3

I certainly agree on your assessment of Leveques' initial bullshit statement. She was being trained, at least in part, by Bryan Danielson in AEW, so definitely agree. She was and is still just green. 112 matches according to Cagematch. 1 hour ago, Eivion said: Stratton needed to show actual confidence and passion during basically any of that exchange, and Charlotte's words wouldn't have mattered. You're talking about two very different creative regimes. There is certainly a lot more of a collaborative effort happening right now. That said, I may have been a bit hasty in my comments surrounding that Tiffy-Charlotte exchange. I'll accept that there's a good chance I was wrong on who presented those ideas. Charlotte was just so convincingly shitty. I generally like that about her, especially as a heel, but this felt like it was actively working to weaken her opponent. Nonetheless, I didn't think Tiffany came out of this looking any worse for wear. A heel just lied.

It doesn't matter. They will keep her around forever. She'll be the new Nia. Edited March 23 by Curt McGirt

Curt McGirt Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Maybe the advantage of being the first AEW talent to get released, go elsewhere, and return? Or no, would that be Perry.
