Dolfan in NYC Posted June 11 Posted June 11 The NCAA is kicking the tires on men's basketball going from halves to 10 minute quarters. Possibly as soon as next season.

High school basketball (at least here, and I believe in most if not all states) have quarters. Women's college basketball has quarters. The NBA has quarters. FIBA has quarters. The most "popular" theory is that the NCAA believes that playing halves instead of quarters lead to closer games It also means a quicker game because there are less media timeouts The second point is actually the reason they probably want to make the switch to quarters as they are probably getting pressure from the networks to allow for more dead time which equates to more $$$
