Dolfan in NYC Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Brad Marchand will make his Panthers' debut today vs Utah.
hammerva Posted March 30 Posted March 30 All is right in the hockey world as Craig Laughlin has returned to the Capitals broadcast after being off for about 2 months dealing with open heart surgery 4
hammerva Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Ovi tied Gretzky goal scoring record tonight against Chicago. Wayne better get on that plane for the next game 1
Contentious C Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Considering the friends he keeps, I'd be nervous about taking a bunch of flights just for ceremony.
hammerva Posted April 5 Posted April 5 And unfortunately, his friends and Wayne's friends are probably way too connected then they should be. But I digress I think one of the great things about the Ovi chase is that it will probably happen on a regional network like Monumental Sports. I am sure that the NHL would rather it happen on a major stage like TNT or ESPN but to me it feels better that it will happen with guys like Laughlin and Joe Beninati who have probably seen 97% of Ovi's goals making the call. Looking at the scheduling, it seems like they are allowing tomorrow game to be shown nationally and locally

Wayne better get on that plane for the next game Ovi turned down a shift with the Chicago net empty so the record wouldn't be set into an empty net. Also would have given him a hat trick. Kinda cool. Also, he tied the record in one fewer game than Gretzky set it. 1
NikoBaltimore Posted April 6 Posted April 6 It's wild seeing the game fully stop like this. Even wilder the reception he's getting on an away game. You'd think it was all Caps fans. I like Ovi a lot and the Caps are pretty much the home team. So really happy to see him break the record. 1
Tabe Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I'm honestly quite amazed that the record was broken at all, let alone by a guy who has lost two full seasons (basically) to various work stoppages. 2

Does he go for 1000 I still believe that he is playing next year which will definitely be his last year I think. So he should get 1000. Probably helps that this game is against the Islanders which is having a very mid season. If this was against the Rangers I don't know if the crowd would be mostly Capitals fan. By the way Janet Jones man she doesn't age
RIPPA Posted April 6 Posted April 6 If the Caps manage to win the Stanley Cup - he is going back to Russia I don’t say retire because Ovi is definitely one of those guys who will be playing somewhere until he is like 55

Dolfan in NYC Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 Winnipeg prospect Chaz Lucius announced his retirement. He has been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a joint disorder, and has been medically advised to hang it up. He is 21.
Tabe Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Last night against Dallas, Vancouver became the first team in NHL history to come back from a 3 goal deficit in the final minute to win. A loss would have eliminated them from the playoffs.

Hope he finds something to fulfill him like playing hockey did.
RIPPA Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Always entertains me that the NHL somehow has a longer regular season than the NBA 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 Counterpoint, everyone who played in the NHL back then had Benoit-level CTE. So maybe it's okay to give them another day or two before they skate and hit each other at 200 kmph.
Dolfan in NYC Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 Oh, and I know you probably just got it all set back up, but you should find your fainting couch again.... Keith Matt Tkachuk is "in line" to be available for Game 1 of the first round.

elizium Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Fucking wild the Jets won the Presidents Trophy. It doesn't bode well for their chances in the playoffs, but it is something that I never thought I'd see. Unfortunately the Western Conference is a murderer's row

Unfortunately the Western Conference is a murderer's row So they will finish with fewer than 119 points. That's the line in the sand. No team who has won the trophy with 119+ points has also won the Cup.
