Dolfan in NYC Posted March 3 Posted March 3 She waits for me at night... she waits for me in silence... she gives me all her tenderness... and takes away my pain. Hey Elimination Chamber happened this weekend! And oh boy, did a LOT happen. We have two new #1 Contenders! Bianca Bel Air will take on either Rhea Ripley or Iyo Sky!   Ripley vs. Sky will happen tonight... and oh yeah, Jade Cargill came back and murked Bianca's partner, Naomi!  That may end up being important!  And so far she hasn't run... Though I swear she's had her moments. She still believes in miracles... while others cry in vain. In the middle... well, RIP Sami Zayn. Our favorite Canadian Murder Bear is back and did some killifying of his own. Yes, Cole was busy during the whole match pleading for the souls of both men... but in the end Kevin used two Apron Powerbombs to put his best friend in the fucking ground.  Of course, the coward known as Randall K. Orton, appeared out of nowhere and attacked Kevin after he'd already had a huge match. We *almost* got a punt too!  (You know... for *half a second*, I thought Sami was going to end up taking the punt for Kevin. )  It's all about soul. It's all about faith and a deeper devotion. It's all about soul... 'cause under the love is a stronger emotion. Oh but then... John Cena shocked the world!  He *won* a match! Good for him! Cody Rhodes stood up for himself, kept his soul, and gave Rock the same treatment he gives The Revival!  Good for him!  And then... the moment you've been waiting for since 2005, finally, finally happened. Let's re-live it: (I had another song in mind, but I'll probably never get to use this one again. Plus I love Billy.) Enjoy the week!
The Natural Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Adrenaline in my soul. I got booted in my balls. Woah oh! 3
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Note, Cena's next scheduled appearance is on 3/17. Truth is gonna be doing a stretcher job for Cena 2

Godfrey Posted March 3 Posted March 3 One thing I hope gets sown up tonight:Â Yeah Cena didn't have to qualify for the Chamber but he did kind of win it on his own, right? He wasn't the last entrant and unless Seth was a useful idiot for the Rock then Cena just won the way anyone else would. So again, why did Cena have to sell his soul? (Real answer: because people might have booed Cody, you can't tell me nothing) 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Honestly that was the biggest hole for me. I'm guessing they'll portray it as Cena not being 100% sure he'd be able to hang and wanted the extra assurance. And now, he's gonna ride the gravy train to the title. It kinda avoids answering what would have happened if Cody said yes but that was never an option for his character right now.  1
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 OF NOTE! Justin Roberts apparently fucked up badly yesterday and spoiled the title change last night.
Niners Fan in CT Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I'm not a big Punk fan but he was fired up tonight. Loved that energy on the mic. Then the brawl with him and Rollins was good too. Do they even need Roman? The Iyo title win was a great surprise! She's one of the best. I do feel like them going away from the Bianca/Rhea singles match is an odd choice since that's the match people have wanted to see forever but Iyo is great so I'm not mad at it. Too bad Rhea will likely make it a triple threat somehow. 2

Am I crazy or did the ring announcer also say "To face Tiffany Stratton or Iyo Sky" before the chamber. I spent 5 minutes looking it up because I thought I'd missed a title change.

Jamal Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Iyo Sky defeating Rhea. becoming the new women's champion, and facing Bianca at Wrestlemania was certainly not on my bingo card lol The women's division is chaos right now and I love it 2
Eivion Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Punk's fired up promo to open things was good. As was the brawl with Seth. Otis/Gunther was solid. Was surprised Gunther managed the powerbomb. I thought for sure this was going to end with the splash or sleeper. Dug the post match shenanigans as well. Was good to see Jey make the save and only take a beating due to Waller & Theory's interference. Thought Jey's promo leaving the arena later in the night was pretty nice as well. Lyra/Ivy was pretty solid though a bit dead as neither woman has managed to build much momentum with the audience at large yet. Creeds vs. War Raiders was a damn good hoss fight. Was nice to see the audience mostly into it after starting off a little cold. That LWO promo was nice and something we need to see more of for other people on the roster. The Bron/Judgement Day segment was fun. I doubt Finn ends up Bron's actual WM opponent, but it should make a for good singles on the Road. Rhea/Io was a little rough at times but damn good overall. Dug them playing into Io being the one opponent Rhea has never figured out and it getting into her head the longer the match went on. That finish was so unexpected, but I kind of loved it both in execution and surprise factor. It has been a while since WWE has really thrown the audience off a bit in terms of expectations as far as the main roster goes so I kind of like how things have been going the past couple of months. I assume if Rhea isn't injured then she is going to somehow turn WM into a triple threat. That isn't ideal to me, but I'm definitely happy to see Io not left out in the cold like it seemed things were heading before. Could have used at least one more match but everything here was worth watching, and there was some good build for Wrestlemania. Rhea/Io was particularly nice to see as its been a match not hit upon for a good 4 or more years now. Good show. 2
Craig H Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Man... That was one of the best openings to a Raw in the history of Raw. Holy shit. I was out of my seat when Punk was talking about the Rock's bullshit goosebumps, which was something I had said awhile back. And the brawl fucking ruled. And then to close things out...IO!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3
_MJ_ Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Lylo victory makes sense if they got certain plans for the Jade/Bianca feud.
The Natural Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) Very surprised to find IYO SKY beat Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's World Championship. What an unpredictable Road to WrestleMania. I was really looking forward to Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair at WrestleMania even though I really like IYO SKY. Guessing it turns into a Triple Threat. Who else could Ripley face? A returning Becky Lynch? Trish Stratus? Jade Cargill? Looks like Cargill/Naomi at WM. Edited March 4 by The Natural
The Natural Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Meltzer: With her win, SKY becomes a Grand Slam Champion in WWE, holding three different singles titles (WWE Women’s, Women’s World, NXT Women’s) plus a tag title (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship), joining Ripley, Asuka, and The Four Horsewomen (Becky Lynch, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks) in accomplishing the feat. 6
TheVileOne Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Becky Lynch's apparent response to the "Come and get your man line." Cora Jade's response to Becky Lynch: Yet another reason wrestlers probably shouldn't be on social media. Â
hammerva Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Yeah I can't tell if Becky is making a "Roxanne looks like AJ and that is why Punk is also around" joke or she actually thought AJ Lee was back and so out of the loop on the product. Or doing what the internet is doing and projecting based on Punk's previous behavior about women.  Either way really strange I really hope that Iyo isn't being used a transitional champion. If the plan is Belair to win the title at WM, I don't know why a title change is needed for it.  besides the awesome surprise that occurred   1
Godfrey Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Thoughts from the first two hours live: My wife thinks it's hilarious that the announcers sit at ringside when their table gets trashed every time. Tonight the table lasted about 7 minutes into the show but at least it wasn't broken. Hell of a promo to open! Wouldn't be surprised if there's some legit heat behind some of that and what's great about Punk is you never know, although it's going up on YouTube uncensored so it was okayed (maybe only after the fact). Really great pull apart too, can't believe it got a 'Holy shit' AND a 'This is awesome' chant. Huge match for next week, could be when Roman comes back too. I think Lyra Valkyria is not very good and Ivy Nile shouldn't be on the main roster yet but there was some stink on some of those throws tonight. Penta and Kaiser are having a nice little midcard feud. Sorry, tag titles, I have to wash dishes sometime. Good suplexes, sick ssp! I hope John Cena Heel Face becomes a meme someday. Thoughts catching up the next day: Just the main event left, I could've toughed it out last night. Solid match between Rhea and Iyo, they made up for a couple of early missteps in the later portion. Sky breaking out holds she learned from being in DMG CTRL was a nice touch and that belly-to-back off the top was a doozy. The sunset flip bomb was incredible too, that deserved a bigger reaction. From a booking perspective, I'm not sure I'm in. I was looking forward to Bianca/Rhea straight up, a triple threat is okay I guess but I'll care less. 1
