The office can't let the talent take advantage, where they can just walk right into another company. This right here. Anybody who doesn't believe WWE would try to hire away one or both participants in a AEW PPV main event the night before the show probably just started watching wrestling an hour ago. 2
stuntmanc Posted March 4 Posted March 4 It's always going to be negative for AEW in the fans eyes. TK lets people walk, they'll screech "The inmates are running the asylum" he doesn't "He's holding them back/hostage" It's honestly irritating on all levels. That being said, i think he gave Fenix his release now because let's face it, it's not going to be "big" news in WWE with Cena's heel turn, Orton's return, etc. There is a lot going on to overshadow it and limit it's impact. 5

AxB Posted March 4 Posted March 4 AEW's exodus of 'talent' continues, as Zak Knight has departed the company following the expiration of his contract. Spoiler Saraya's brother. Yes, he worked for AEW for a bit. In other, more significant news, Jamie Hayter hasn't been on TV because she's having issues with her USA Work Visa. 2

That sucks for Jamie (and us) but also gives some time for various current storylines to work out so that she can still follow up on her revenge angle. Right now, she can’t go against megaface Toni Storm, and Ruby Soho is on maternity leave. I suppose she could do a little program with Harley as Outcast adjacent. 2

I mean Harley already got put through a table by Jamie in the blow off match with her and Saraya. I don't think there's any meat left on that bone from a revenge standpoint. Jamie has a rubber match with Julia, and matches with Toni and Ruby. I think Toni and Jamie could be fun with this Toni wondering what the big deal is and then maybe gaslighting her about it? 1
SovietShooter Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I want either Hayter vs Bayne, or Hayter & Bayne teaming in a long term feud with Willow & Stat. Anything less would be uncivilized. 1

Jamie Hayter scooped Sapp by quote tweeting his "Jamie Hayter news coming today" or whatever, and posting the news herself. It was fucking hilarious. I can't post the tweet because this board is broken. 1 7
HarryArchieGus Posted March 5 Posted March 5 My knowledge of the Gabe Kidd story is limited and comes from a reddit thread. Does somebody want to credibly break down the situation?
Casey Posted March 5 Posted March 5 7 minutes ago, HarryArchieGus said: My knowledge of the Gabe Kidd story is limited and comes from a reddit thread. Does somebody want to credibly break down the situation? From what I remember/can piece together online, since mostly everything has been deleted from Twitter and whatnot. Plus, it was 5 years ago. Mariah May outs Sid Scala as a manipulative trainer, who threatens and bullies his students. According to her, he also told Mariah's partner that she was sexually assaulted (without her consent to do so). She posts all of this to Twitter during Speaking Out. He sues her for defamation of character. She posts a GoFundMe to help fund her legal expenses. Either before the lawsuit, or after, I'm not sure honestly, Gabe Kidd posts on Twitter. He's replying to a fan, and he says nobody online knows what really happened, Mariah May has ruined people's lives, and calls the fan a twat. He had been crashing out on Twitter for a minute, tweeting manic stuff at The Rock and generally just being mentally unwell. That doesn't excuse anything, however. Will Ospreay and others apparently contact Gabe, he deletes all of the tweets (including the Mariah one), and Ospreay tweets that Gabe was going through a mental health crisis (due to Gabe being in Japan during COVID-19 and now he's going home, or something). Ospreay has his own stuff during Speaking Out, too. I believe either one of Gabe's last matches before he takes a break, or his first match back after the break, is against Ospreay for his RevPro title or whatever. It's never mentioned again from what I know. Supposedly this whole ordeal keeps WWE from signing Mariah May, Sid Scala stays on WWE's payroll until sometime last year, and AEW eventually signs her. 4
The Green Meanie Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) ^Thanks for explaining this calmly for everyone. Edit: What happened to Erica Leigh? Edited March 5 by The Green Meanie 1
Casey Posted March 5 Posted March 5 multi year agreement announced this morning with Amazon Prime to air all AEW PPVs (full price) in the US, UK and Canada. Starts this Sunday with Revolution.

Less titles, yes please. Bonus points if the Continental Title gimmick to the Continetal Classic is retired. Give the winner some sort of title shot, not a belt to defend. Keep the International Title as is as the secondary championship.

That's the wrestling business, and that's the game Tony Khan signed up for. It also benefits them by saving money from their contracts as well. Tony Khan's "I'm not gonna sit back and take this fucking shit" strategy hasn't been working out very well for him.
Casey Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Anyway, let's talk about AEW 2019 again. Seriously, what the fuck was Brandi Rhodes thinking with this shit? Say what you will about Tony Khan's booking, but it's infinitely better than this. (If you're reading this TK, please upload the pandemic era shows and PPVs. I need to experience that stuff again. It was a fever dream.) 2

The combined International/Continental Title (give it a clever name like....Intercontinental?) shouldn't be defended in the CC but maybe the belt grants entry into the CC while all others have to win qualifiers. 6 hours ago, Casey said: Anyway, let's talk about AEW 2019 again. Seriously, what the fuck was Brandi Rhodes thinking with this shit? My favorite was when she cut a promo clumsily describing where the Nightmare Collective fit into the bigger picture of the Nightmare Family, like she was seconds away from just pulling out an org chart or maybe a 30 minute Nightmare Family PowerPoint presentation. Also Kong being the centerpiece of the stable, while clearly being in working shape similar to 1990 Andre, was no good. Edited March 6 by Technico Support

Nope. 2020-2023 only have Revolution, while 2024 has the first three PPVs of the year. They uploaded January to March 2020 episodes of Dynamite, stopping right before the first COVID show. TheVileOne Posted March 6 Posted March 6 According to Brandi Rhodes, the original idea was for her to manage Awesome Kong, but there were "too many cooks in the kitchen" and too many people were having a say in the angle. The original idea was to have Kong as a badass warrior who wanted to beat up her opponents and cut off their hair as a trophy after the match. 1

Score one for the "cooks," I think the Rhodes do better when they aren't the ones cooking. 4 1 2
HarryArchieGus Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I always read the Brandi Rhodes experimental failures run as a positive sign that AEW would be willing to drop their worst creative ideas and move on. That seemed refreshing opposite the traditional Titan Sports creative model. Not to say the MJF/Cole feud didn't stretch said idea. 2
