Curt McGirt Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Mark still not having wrestled a tag that's 2-on-2 (I'm pretty sure) is a great tribute to his brother and should always be pointed out. Re: Speedball, we did have Jerry Flynn in the '90s... 3 3

Re: Speedball, we did have Jerry Flynn in the '90s... It’s interesting seeing Mullethead Bailey’s presentation and history (we all start somewhere) as repeatedly the reasons why ppl don’t accept him - at first. And then every match he has, his hard work and talent wins another critic over. For me it was shortly after he began his Impact run. Maybe Wrestling oughta have more ppl that reflect the characters you see walking around the live shows. Mark Briscoe is on the record as saying he doesn’t want to do regular tags since Jay’s passing. I too like this. Goddamn, do I ever miss Jay Briscoe. ps Jerry Flynn was my C show guy. Edited April 1 by HarryArchieGus 4
NikoBaltimore Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I have no opinion of the guy one way or another and I it's different time and everything. But imagine Speedball as Glacier and the gimmick had a chance without the nWo stuff mucking things up. Better yet, all that plus have Glacier debut two or three years earlier. It might have been crazy enough to work. 2
twiztor Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Bailey is a guy i didn't get the hype for, based on the couple of indy matches i'd seen of his. the 4-way last week made it finally click for me. looking forward to seeing more. but damn did he feel awkward during his in-ring promo with Omega. doubly so since he just stood there after Ricochet's interruption 2

That said, I think all the kicks will wear thin over time for me. Now imagine him as a heel getting chopped by Eddie Kingston. 4 1
Curt McGirt Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Matt gets it. He would be insufferable as a heel. It would rule. I thought about Glacier when I was thinking of Flynn too. And I also thought of Steve Blackman, who I myself was a mark for. Cue photo of juiced-up Steve Blackman before he got malaria and almost died: 2

SovietShooter Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I have no preconceived notions about Bailey, before he showed up, aside from him being a big Indie signing. I think he has a unique look and style, but I think it'll need tweaked a bit for him to really take off. Just based on what I've seen of his style so far, if he is going to go heel, he would be a great heel foil for some of the luchadors - Commander, Komander, a Babyface Mortos, etc. 2
JLowe Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Trying to catch up with several weeks. Harley and the Beast has potential to be the second best angle in AEW (nothing will ever top Toni-Mariah). Beast has done pretty well with over-the-top physical comedy and really leaning into the character (like growling all his answers in an interview). Have Takeshita and Mark Briscoe had a singles match yet? Julia and Aminata are going to keep wrestling and hurting each other. Both are very close to putting to all together, but get them in the same ring and it’s a little dangerous. 1
odessasteps Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something like announce one main match and then 10-20 other matches bring inducted, like how they put people like Thesz in their HOF.
