You could have easily taken Tenta out of that Golga costume (which is up there with the weirdest idea they ever had) and reintroduced Quake no problem. Did anyone not smart, or someone of you actually smart, know it was him? The fans certainly didn't.

I sure as hell didn't, it was definitely an odd decision that once I found out really confused me. And the fact he wrestled that gimmick for nine months and then just disappeared. I wasn't an "online fan" until a few years after that, I'm sure it was reported in the Observer and what not but I wasn't in the loop and he looked too different. But even though he was in his mid-30s neither WCW or WWF were interested in him, not sure if both just felt he was too stained by having so many weird gimmicks over the years.

I read.... somewhere.... that the WWF felt Tenta had lost too much weight and wouldn't work as "Earthquake" anymore but no idea the source of that or if that was just fan speculation.

not to be confused with One Man Gang appearing in his OMG gimmick at WM17 because he was too skinny for his Akeem gear

in light of recent news... wonder if there's a way for a wrestling angle (in probably AEW) where the heels unknowingly invite one of the faces into a discord to reveal plans

or if not that.. someone mistaking two masked wrestlers for each other because they have similar-ish masks

My family had just gotten internet during the Oddities run so I hadn't discovered wrestling rumorz yet but 10 year old me knew it was Tenta just based on how he'd plant his hand to lessen the impact on the Earthquake splash he still did as Golga.

I was ranting about Charlotte Flair successfully defending the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship against Asuka by submission ending her undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXXIV. It wasn't the only bad one on the same show with Brock Lesnar beating Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship and AJ Styles defending the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Can you think other cards which had three or more with the wrong winners going over especially for major championships?

Man, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns and AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura were so disappointing rematches of their respective classics at WWE WrestleMania XXXI and NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10 respectively.

I remember in one of the WWF magazines they had a feature called "Fantasy Matchups" or something like that, and they did Golga vs. Earthquake one month as a wink to the "smart" fans.

Nakamura's booking when he was hovering around the world title was horrific.

Truly. Should have beat Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam 2017 and AJ Styles at WrestleMania XXXIV. Jinder the worst.

I remember how excited I was when he won the Royal Rumble.

Then his entire gimmick became about hitting people in the nuts

Oh, I was too. I have a soft spot for the 2018 Royal Rumble as my Sister watched it live with me which she rarely ever does. I was happy when Shinsuke Nakamura won while my Sister was pissed off as an ardent Roman Reigns fan.

Amazing how the 2018 Royal Rumble got both winners right in Shinsuke Nakamura/Asuka but stupidly jobbed them out to Brock Lesnar/Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania XXXIV.

Man, you think it was bad watching it was even worse live.  We were in $80 nosebleed seats bored out of our minds and the only thing I cared about was that Minoru Suzuki (and I think Tanahashi) were there on the other side.  Even stuff like Danielson's return was a wet fart of a tag match with how they laid it out in the first half.  And let's not forget the whole Nicholas/Braun tag thing.

Of all the Wrestlemanias I finally go to it had to be this one.  It's like Vince knew I was going and went all "Fuck this guy!" or something.  At least New Orleans was a damn good time.

I was fading watching either 12-5am or 1am-6am UK time live Monday morning. I can't imagine having to watch WrestleMania XXXIV in person. Yeah, Danielson's return was anticlimactic and Braun/Nicholas BS. Only good thing from the show was the opening match on the PPV: The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor with the LGBTQ+ community part of Finn's entrance and Kurt Angle/Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H/Stephanie McMahon. NXT TakeOver: New Orleans the day before smoked it. Sucks that was your first WrestleMania, friend.

You're right, I forgot about the opening match.  I saw a rainbow font for Finn but didn't see the stuff on the stage too well.  It wasn't until after we left I saw what he did.  But yeah that was the best part.

Went online and watched Botchamania for the first time in a very long time - first all the old ones that are up on YouTube, and second, the newer ones. Three observations:

1. We need to retire table spots in which someone dives onto someone else who is laying prone on the table. The risk-to-meaningful-move ratio is completely out of whack. Kind of like ladder matches need to go because these dangerous ladder bumps mean nothing.

2. A lot of botches come from guys not doing the one thing they're expected to do outside the ring on their spots, and that's position themselves to catch a fucking dive.

3. AEW fans have terrible opinions on video games (generally speaking, not the AEW fans who post here).

EDIT 4. And a bunch of the talking stuff in the videos doesn't constitute a botch. If Charlotte Flair, while heeling, says that no one has ever made her tap out, she's just being a lying (or extremely selective in her memory) heel; she's not making a mistake. Maffew can be a funny guy, and I appreciate his creativity with these videos, but sometimes I wonder if he actually gets the basics of pro wrestling.

Fans holding game-related signs in a pathetic attempt to get on Botchamania is second only to the tasteless goofs holding Busted Open Radio fatheads.

Also, Botchamania feels at times like it’s 50% low level Indy botches, which is lame.

Atlantis wrestled a couple matches for WCW. They announced him as Lizmark Jr. Ring Announcer, Chyron, and commentators all referred to him as that.

Speaking as somebody who was asked by my wife to make a "Remaster Sonic Adventure 2!" sign I feel...mildly-but-not-really perturbed by this statement.  I do think it's better than the Busted Open fatheads.

And yes, it was to get my fat ass on Botchamania which mission accomplished thank you very much.

I've seen every episode and we watch/love them but there are valid points about what's shown.

This was one of the more sensible signs that made it into a video - off-topic, but not some sort of hating-ass sign about inferior games and characters.

I'll actually give you an example of a sign that I agreed with, but didn't like at all, and a sign that I thought was a clever way to mix video games and the actual wrestling show the fan was at.

I'm a ten-pin and Canadian five-pin bowler and a conoisseur of bowling vidya games. Some guy had a sign in one of these that said Nestor's Funky Bowling > Animaniacs Ten Pin Alley. This is entirely true - and I'm one of probably nine people to own Nestor's Funky Bowling for the Virtual Boy (which had TWO bowling games in its American release lineup of, like fourteen games). Ten Pin Alley has terrible pin physics even for its day, but that's not the point.

The point is that it's a deep-pull wink and nod about how dumb these comparison signs trying to catch Maffew's attention are while also being a dumb comparison sign that is trying to catch Maffew's attention. Annoying.

On the other hand, someone made a replica of the Sting fan sign in WCW/nWo Revenge. That was neat, especially considering that Sting was actually on AEW's roster! More wrestling signs that call out wrestling games in a relevant way, please!
