Not quite, and one of my regrets is that I wasn't born soon enough to go to a show with my grandma, who used to go when they'd venture up this way in the '60s and '70s.

When I was living outside of Portland I couldn’t believe how many people fondly remembered it and would bring up names like Piper Dutch Savage Buddy Rose Snuka Ventura etc.

In a recent podcast interview, Matt Riddle said the toughest people he had to work with while at WWE were... Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Pardon me while I giggle.

Isn't the general consensus that Sami is very very opinionated and can be hard to work with but he's a nice person so people bear it? Even Roman said in a recent interview that he was thankful that Heyman was the one to deal with Sami most of the time. Like Riddle is a goof but I could see him clashing with Sami and Kevin and I could see his attitude irking those guys.

I've noticed that. If you talk to someone fifty or older who grew up in Portland, Vancouver (WA), Beaverton, Milwaukie, etc., they basically think Piper and Buddy Rose are the greatest wrestlers ever. It's pretty awesome, honestly, that if I wear the lavender Savage shirt, I'll get a reaction from a random person more often than not, almost always older than me.

As bad as wrestling shirts usually are in terms of design, the right ones can spark a small, but instant connection with strangers, especially in certain parts of the continent.

out of the current WWE roster (and people under contract), who is the most likely to assault a comedian over a joke?

I spent the summer after I finished college working at a minor league ballpark. The place was built circa 1930 and was absolutely decrepit. Detailing my experiences there is a whole other story, but suffice it to say that whenever I've gotten bummed about my job or station in life I think back to 2004 and don't feel that bad about things. Can confirm the main draw of the place was an inexpensive, family friendly outing. GA tickets were like $5-10 and there were places all over town you could get discounted or value pack tickets. It was a popular birthday and corporate outing place and if the humidity wasn't too bad it didn't seem like a bad way to spend a summer evening. On Thursday home games they had a Thirsty Thursday special where you could get dixie cups of Bud Lite or some other cheap beer for a buck. It was a popular promotion and the nights where I was able to snag a bartending shift I walked out with a nice chunk of change.

Oh man, we had a company Summer outing at the same stadium I mentioned before, and it was awesome.  A lot of people complained about the drive but shit, playing softball on the minor league baseball field was so cool.  Later that night I drove, buzzed and sunburned, to Virginia for a Styx/Foreigner double bill.  What an exhausting but amazing day.

I’d be inclined to say “absolutely,” but he’s been on his best behavior since being around people he’s too cowardly to FAFO with.

Not to mention all the young ladies in NXT. #dazedandconfused

It’s weird how he still hasn’t found the time to work out with or, more importantly, apparently, post pics with, the young men of NXT.  Maybe next week.

I was discussing this with my cousins a few weeks back if we thought WWE would go "Full UFC" with the mixing of their product and politics and it seems the answer is yes, they are going to be doing more of that.  Which is terrible.

Seems like a risky move considering their main audience is different in demographic from UFC's. But what the hell do I know?

I dunno if the UFC is fully politic as much as just adjacent to some unsavory things. UFC is also the we support the LGBTQIA+ community, the latinx community, black history, women, etc. I mean you get Bryce Mitchell saying wild shit every other week, but you get Jean Silva at the UFC 314 press conference bringing out a globe to show his dumbass that, "no, Bryce, the world isn't flat". Yeah, Belal Muhammad still cannot use the Palestinian flag even though he's a UFC champion but they don't exactly censor people in the post fight interviews. So if you want to go on some tangent, feel free.

UFC is just an amalgamation of random shit just cause you're getting a bunch of people under one roof (most of them from wildly conservative places not just in the U.S. but around the world, mind you) and the ownership group is made up of billionaires whose political interest run conservative but they're not going to turn down a dollar from anywhere. 90 percent is unintentional. The Kid Rock, Elon, Trump, etc. appearances are the other 10%.

I mean, I gave up UFC after watching since the first season of TUF (after falling off after seeing the first several shows on VHS years earlier) as I just can't deal with the hateful shit that is deemed acceptable behavior there (yes, Bryce Mitchell was that last straw, fuck that POS), I don't know if it is quote-unquote "political" but the vibe has gotten downright vile there too frequently. I don't care if the food at a place is good, if the guy working the register is free to call people there the n word it ain't a place I'm going back to, etc. etc.

Also not to give Matt Riddle much benefit of the doubt but Sami has been wildly acknowledged as a difficult guy to work with until you get used to him by just about everyone who has ever had to deal with him.

I was at the SmackDown the night after the Championship Ascension Ceremony. On the Max back it seemed like everyone in the train remembered The Portland days. The Territory Days seem like they were magical. From the little on YouTube I’ve been able plus the Portland Comp Portland seemed like it was special.

Wait....so you been watching the last 20 years (TUF season 1 was early 2005) but the last 2-3 years was the final straw? Wouldn't that be the equivalent of hearing some guy say a racial epithet like few hundred times and then deciding not to support that particular business? Otherwise, that metaphor doesn't work.

Bron doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor.

It definitely hasn't been as prolific as the pictures with Cora and Roxanne but I at least remember him taking some photos with Trick.

Running the tour the week of Forbidden Door is ........ something

Might that be more like Mania week where they're just taking advantage of proximal fans rather than trying to cut into AEW's business?

I have a coworker from up that way who heard me make a Buddy Rose reference years ago and immediately started talking about Don Owen and Portland Wrestling.

If you've been going to a bar that doesn't kick out nazis, then congrats, you've been going to a nazi bar.

UFC platforms hate speech.

Have they started actually paying people their worth yet or are people still getting like 10-20k for ppv fights?

The company and Dana make me actively root for the illegal ppv streamers which is something I would not usually do.

Don't ever forget AEW killed Hunter's NXT baby. Don't think for one second he and Nick Khan don't want to kick AEW's ass any chance they get.

Regarding the comedian guy pissing off a wrestler, I'd assume him making a crack at any of the LGBTQIA+ wrestlers might get someone worked up or making a joke about any of the wrestlers in relationships. Like I can't see Montez taking jokes about Bianca well, or Jimmy and Naomi, Kaiser is my wildcard. 15 to 20 years ago, Orton would probably be my #1.

But I'm sure he'll get a list of stuff that's off limits and he doesn't want to mess up his sweet Netflix money.
