The Natural Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Just now, NoFistsJustFlips said: Yes. More Leslie Jones. Less douce bag actresses that expose the business on the mic for no reason. I mean it's 2025 we all know. But no one stops a movie an hour in just to tell us it's scripted right before the ending. Why do these people have to make sure they prove they know it's scripted? THAT line. My eyes popped out of my head like a cartoon.

I couldn’t have summed it up any better: this belongs on THE comp. It reminded me of the WM 17 main event in how the storyline beats were baked organically into the execution and production of the match. Maybe even more organically than that. Truly an all time classic, in the top 0.001% of matches ever wrestled Edited March 10 by For Great Justice 1
EVA Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I kinda nodded at this earlier re: Toni/Mariah, but I’ll say it more explicitly here: They very easily could have justified going 20-30 minutes, given all that they were wrapping up, and I love that—rather than doing the bloated, melodramatic version—they went all killer, no filler and got it done in under 15. And STILL delivered an epic, satisfying payoff. Please god, let that be the lesson the industry takes from that match. 6 1
Technico Support Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I'm just laughing at how COPE~! has only dropped two falls in this company so far, both to Christian. And then it's time for him to wrestle for the world title but not win, so they book this too cute for its own good, WWE style, "how do we get out of this match?" bullshit. Man, what a guy. Really helping the young guys, that COPE. Honestly, what do you do with him now? Just have him feud with his old buddy again off to the side in the Copeverse? I mean I'd personally use him to build, and eventually job clean to, someone who is under 50. But that's just me. 3
EVA Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I thought Cope’s first 6 months in the company really outperformed expectations, but these couple months post-injury have been ROUGH. Let’s just skip ahead to the E&C reunion.
Yo-Yo's Roomie Posted March 10 Posted March 10 What did the actresses say? I muted it every time they had them or that director bloke on. Can't take the cringe. 1
EVA Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Something about how the wrestlers know what’s going to happen beforehand. The way she said it suggested she intended some deeper, allegorical meaning behind it, but what that might have been was lost to everyone but her. 1 1 1

Now that I'm out of my teen years, it's the dumbest fucking bullshit imaginable. Like, if my friend accidentally hit me, I wouldn't start doubting them. That's why I liked what the Young Bucks and FTR have done as a tag team because there have been a bunch of times where those teams have accidentally hit their teammates and they didn't get pissy with each other because of it. They all also have the benefit of watching this shit back. But clearly we're going to get Edge and White feuding, which at least will make White a heel again. 2

Excalibur: FIFTEEN PERCENT!
NoFistsJustFlips Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I was expecting Christian inserting himself to be Cope's jumping off point from this story and entering into a story that leads to E&C back together. Probably against FTR at All In. I would hope Jay White vs Cope os not the direction here. I think FTR vs E&C would have been the direction for last year's All In as well had it not been for the injury.
Matt D Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I'm dreading the Omega match honestly. I get Ospreay. I 100% get him and why people like him. It's clear as day to me. With Omega, I have such a massive disconnect. He's the most disingenuous, disconnected, unimmersive wrestler to me. Breaks my suspension of disbelief more than almost any wrestler I've ever encountered. I feel nothing watching his matches but disdain and frustration and mild intellectual admiration for what he's TRYING to do. Yet people are very clear that he makes them feel more than any other wrestler. Not with the people here, but with a lot of people online, he's the wrestler that most people associate with being "smart." He's their Flair (for people in the 80s-early 90s) or Benoit (for people in the late 90s-early 00s), etc. He defines what is "great" and it's hard to even dispute it with them.
Kevin Wilson Posted March 10 Posted March 10 TK gave a very TK response when asked about the match order, which C&Ped from cagesideseats and will post below: Spoiler I thought Toni and Mariah in Australia had a fantastic main event. Tonight, they delivered, it was absolutely fantastic, great match, and I really, really believed in it, and I really believed in the story, which like I said was the culmination of a really, really long plan and just absolutely fantastic series of events. “And absolutely — that’s a match capable of main eventing, just like in Australia, or the Hollywood Ending, or the match at Wembley Stadium — all World title main event-level matches, and in particular I would say their match that did main event Grand Slam Australia was one of the great main events on my all-time favorite TV show... I do think tonight is one of the best shows we’ve ever done start-to-finish, so hindsight’s always 20/20, but to me, putting it back together and looking back on it, [Revolution] is one of my all-time favorite shows. “Sharing the stage [at the scrum] earlier with Swerve Strickland, Toni Storm was in no condition to come up here, she’s lost a lot of blood. It was I thought a great moment for Swerve, who one year ago won the championship at Dynasty, to have that moment, and have the crowd come back, and do the “Whose House? Swerve’s House’ — which to be fair, they didn’t know they would see him again after what happened with Swerve and Ricochet. So, it was a big reaction and certainly the crowd got behind Swerve at end too, which is never a surprise... “So I thought start to finish it was a great show. Certainly I thought that [Storm/May] would be a great main event, and I also thought, in particular, there were a lot of matches that could have been the main event, including any of the last four [Mox/Cope, Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher, Kenny Omega vs. Konosuke Takeshita, and Storm/May]. “That’s why I really called it a big closing four, because I really felt like, okay, these final matches to go to say these are all gonna be huge matches with massive significance, and knowing we had of course the Hollywood Ending, Kenny Omega returning — his first PPV match in AEW in over a year, his first time challenging for a championship in AEW in over a year, to have Kenny Omega/Takeshita. To have then the steel cage match with Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher, and that has also been a great story they’ve told. And they’ve been in different positions on the card as well, whether it was opening Grand Slam Australia or at Worlds End, and then in the semi-main position here at Revolution. And then to have Mox & Cope, really four great matches, and they had been in kind of that cross-over [mid-show] position at Grand Slam Australia where I thought Toni & Mariah had that great main event on that great show. “So I really felt like any of the final four matches could have stood out there as the main event and in particular knowing Swerve was waiting in the wings, he’s the number one contender, we’re heading into Dynasty our next PPV and that’s where he Swerve won the championship last year — and I had a feeling the crowd would get behind seeing Swerve at the end of the show. Knowing, especially after the #1 contender match earlier in the night, then I felt pretty good about how that came out, and very happy to see the crowd get behind him. Like he said [during his portion of the scrum] he’s done a lot for AEW and accomplished a lot, and Swerve and Ricochet had a great, great match. I think they’ve also had a fantastic rivalry, so I thought they had a great #1 contender’s match also tonight.” What I think is most interesting besides the funny way he talks around things is he didn't really defend Mox/Cope. He talked up literally every match (even though he wasn't asked to) and Swerve showing up at the end but just had a generic compliment for Mox/Cope. Could mean nothing, could mean he took the feedback to heart even though he can't say that. Definitely talked up Swerve a lot though.
Craig H Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Mariah May vs Toni Storm Hollywood Ending is up there with the first Best Friends vs Santana/Ortiz parking lot brawl. Just such an amazing match. Like EVA said, all killer, no filler, which is EXACTLY what the main event should have been. It was so long, drawn out, and plodding that only got interesting when Christian cashed in and then immediately became something to laugh at because they had to protect Edge. I did think Christian, in the Bulldog Choke, putting a hand on Cope to pin him was the move of the night. It's the little things and Christian is one of those guys who has a PhD in that shit. Lots of questions coming out of this though. Based on rumblingz, we're likely headed for a unification match between Kenny and Okada at All In. I'm not sure where that leaves Ospreay then, who is one of the most over acts in the company and one of the tippy top babyfaces. I'm not particularly interested in him and Kenny feuding again as a stop gap to Kenny vs Okada, but maybe they start building towards Kenny/Okada/Ospreay 3 way at All In. Even then, Kenny and Okada make sense in that match. They're both bringing gold into it. Ospreay is bringing nothing into it. I just don't know what you do with him in the immediate future aside from maybe going after Takeshita to finally bring down the Don Callis Family. Another question I have is if Lashley is on a pitch count or something. His involvement in tag matches has been fairly limited. I know he's had some injury issues, he's older, and roids and age don't mix. I guess we'll probably get HB vs Murder Machines next. I really expected the Bucks to make an appearance when Kenny was walking back with the title, but they're still on the shelf and it's practically their hometown. I can't say I'm missing them and I feel like AEW has sort of moved on from the Young Bucks. Out of the Elite that are still in AEW, I think Hangman and Omega need to be locked up there for life. The Bucks I think you could do without. Yuta is the most worthless Jey Uso ever. Someone made the point that they thought that maybe this was building towards Yuta getting his soul back and building him up for an uber babyface run. Yeah...You're going to need to have him stop being the Sickboy/Billy Kidman of this group then. And fast. Again, Toni Storm is one of the best acts in all of wrestling right now. She's so fucking awesome and hit 1.0+ Muta last night. Hoping her back and May's back are both ok because they both looked like they hurt their backs early on in that match. As I watched Zero Hour I started to think of how far Adam Cole has fallen from when he was first brought in. A mountain of diminishing returns on him, which sucks because I really like Adam Cole. He's starting to become the epitome of a AAAA baseball player. Too good for AAA, not good enough for the majors. Dude should start watching his old promos on Honor Club and start getting back to that Adam Cole instead of Sports Entertainment Adam Cole. I really think NXT/WWE broke him. Conversely, I can't give enough props to Ricochet. Came in, started out slow and looking like he couldn't shake the NXT/WWE off of him, started getting his footing back in the ring, and then becoming the Drake of AEW is one of the best character developments ever for a guy who could never cut a decent promo and was fairly milquetoast outside of a flashy in ring style. This is probably the best Ricochet has ever been in his career. He's finally put it all together. As for his match with Swerve...Fucking fantastic. Yeah, I was one of the people wondering why Nana just didn't run off with the robe early on, but I dealt with it. Nana really sold just how many bullets he's taken for Swerve and took 3 or 4 last night. Loved all of the storytelling in the match too between Nana and Swerve. These guys are clearly great friends and business associates and who hasn't been in a situation where a friend pissed them off and then quickly cooled down and was like, "I don't want to be like that, I'm ride or die with you." I gotta say though...The seamstress that blended Ricochet's logo into the Embassy robe did an amazing job. That was a fucking awesome look. So good that Ricochet should develop his own, dark version of the Embassy robe with his logo. Final thoughts...As much as I loved the show, aside from the main event, this red lined my danger gauge. Way, way, way too many dangerous spots last night to the point where in 4 matches with top stars you could have had someone with a broken neck or something else severely fucked up to put them on the shelf for a year. MJF damn near ganzo bombed Hanger (which immediately brought me back to how Starks landed from a Hangman German suplex and got a broken neck), an Angel Wings on MJF when MJF got his neck cranked on the landing, too many risky spots to mention in Swerve vs Ricochet, Kenny isn't going to be bleeding out but for a guy with a history of hernias...taking a bump onto the edge of a table seemed way too reckless, there were at least 2 or 3 other moves in that match where Kenny could have been super fucked up which just seems like it's Takeshita's style (I'd love to know how that guy works that stiff but isn't that stiff), and obviously the Spanish Fly off the top of the cage. I mean, Kurt Angle cites the moonsaults from the top of the cage as what destroyed his knees. I already hate the Spanish Fly because 1) it looks like death for both wrestlers and 2) there have been way too many close calls with wrestlers nearly killing themselves on that move. And these two did it off the top of a cage. At least the cage isn't monstrously tall anymore. And I say all of that because all of those moves clearly added to their matches, but also look at Mariah May vs Toni Storm where neither one of them were hitting ultra permadeath moves on each other and added more to their match where they would both walk out unscathed aside from scars if not for some awkward landings/bumps early on in the match. 2

HarryArchieGus Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) I watched live with an Omega-Takeshita Main Event before exhaustion/sleepiness settled in. I went back this morning fresh and caffeinated for the Cage Match and Main Event. Cope-Mox to my eyes was a very solid to really good simple wrestling match. I thought they were snug and tight and smart. I liked Mox's work on the neck. I liked Jay White's involvement. Yuta's too - minus some points for the hammy if mildly amusing dramatics. I have very little to complain about apart from the obvious regroup talking spot late in the match - as Mox is sometimes prone to. Oh, and I hated Cope's neon green gear as well, but presentation is not the man's strong suit. I expected some MITB bullshit, but kinda knew Christian would find a way to enjoyably interject himself. I hate Triple Threats (especially title matches) and MITB contracts, but I accepted both, and loved everything involving Christian. The exhausted crowd came alive down the stretch. That Bulldog choke into Christian's hand pin was amongst my favorite things on the show. This match would have undoubtedly worked far better earlier in the show. Nonetheless, I kinda admired seeing these two work this style of match after the mega-sugar-rush-overload that came before. I suspect I might be the only person on DVDVR that likes this heel Moxley (the way I prefer him) title run. Further, I like that the World title has been stuffed in a suitcase this whole time. Stoked for Swerve v Mox. Cagematch reminds me that they fought once prior in the first C2. Edited March 10 by HarryArchieGus 1
Leonidas Posted March 10 Posted March 10 As someone who loves Christian and is bored to death by the Deathriders they managed to pick my worst outcome possible. LOLMOXWINS. Toni / Mariah should have main-evented. Imagine the show ending with "The End" on the screen and everyone cheering like they did. 6
Overly Critical Man Posted March 10 Posted March 10 There was literally no reason that Toni and Mariah shouldn’t have been the main event when it was literally the “Hollywood Ending”. Strongest story, strongest match, etc etc As for the rest of the ppv, I liked most of what I saw which is like way way way above what I usually think about these ppvs. Didn’t like how dangerous a lot of the stuff was, but I understand “go big or go home”. Please retire, Cope. You too Mox. You can stay, Christian. 2
Phantom Lord Posted March 10 Posted March 10 The Hollywood Ending falls count anywhere match between Toni Storm and Mariah May was a literal bloody spectacle. Easily the match of the night and congratulations to Toni Storm for ending the feud on a high note like she did. The cage match lived up to it's lofty expectations and also was a bloody spectacle. Will Osprey and Kyle Fletcher were amazing. If you watch only two matches from this show, go out of your way to watch those matches. Honorable mention goes to Mercedes vs. Momo for the TBS Championship which was good from what I saw of it. Triller TV was terribly buffering especially during this match so I might have to watch the replay just to actually watch the match. When it comes to the main event I was so indifferent towards it. It was just a dull and boring match compared to what these guys could probably do. Cope should have won. I would have been happy with Christian cashing in and beating him in a screwy fashion. But Moxley winning was complete bullshit and I said as much after the bell rang. Mox is so boring these days and at best we have to wait another month for hopefully Swerve beating him. I say hopefully because who knows they could hold off till Double or Nothing. Tony would be the type to do that. 1
Nice Guy Eddie Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I didn't watch live since I was out, but I ordered the replay. I watched everything except for the main event. It was 4:30 EST by the time Cope/Mox was about to start, so I tapped out. I loved everything I watched with the lone exception being Hurt Syndicate/Outrunners. We all knew how that match was going to go. I agree with my fellow board members that Toni/Mariah should have been the main event. I don't really have much to add besides saying AEW hit a home run last night. I hope Tony will pivot and put the world title on Swerve ASAP.

Curt McGirt Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I don't know if this was said above but I thought it was on the Discord, the joke being that Edge stole his gear from Logan Paul A personal one I made last night was that it would be funny if they opened the case and there was just feathers inside, or a piece of paper that read "I.O.U."
