i fully understand that criticism of Stevie's pod, but i have to say that i do enjoy when i selectively watch clips on YouTube. Emphasis on "selectively".

Stevie also has a tendency to view WWE as "big time" and everybody else as minor league. He was talking about the Edge/Moxley match with the nailbat spot, and was saying something like "Moxley doesn't have to do that. It might actually hurt his chances of going back to WWE." He's made other similar comments as well, but that one stood out to me since Mox has been explicit in not wanting to go back.

...Does he know the matches Moxley was having BEFORE he ever got to WWE? If that shit didn't discourage them from taking a chance and he was just some dude on the indies, then nothing will if he is now more known.

Carny can’t fathom that someone might not be just fleecing a money mark and biding their time until New York calls them for another run: film at 11.

Funny timing, there was a thread in r/squaredcircle just a day or so ago about how much Stevie’s show has changed, especially since James joined, leaning into the profitable land of negativity.

I definitely think Stevie would be better served with a less clickbait-y host. Most of the YT clips have that annoying thing where the BUZZWORD is CAPITALIZED for SHOCK VALUE.

Seriously, if he didn't do that, who would listen to him? And that's not throwing shots as much there are a bunch of seemingly intelligent people on Youtube and other platforms who have something substantial to say. However, they don't have the audience or perhaps more importantly the means to build an audience like these podcasts who already have notable sponsors and have visibility to cultivate a following.

I mean it's nice that guys like Maven, D'Von, Stevie, etc. are getting respect when they were disrespected or overlooked during their in-ring careers, but some of this is just placating and appeasing an audience who likes shit being disturbed or just wants to hear never-ending gossip about the "good old days". It's basically supplanted what shoot interviews use to be. Also, what happened to keeping the secrets and tricks of the trade to yourself and not letting marks know? WAIT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE YOUNG GUYS EXPOSING THE BUSINESS?! SAY IT AIN'T SO!

Voices of Wrestling have a new series about the history of Michinoku Pro. I've listened to the first episode and part of the second.  It's very in depth and interesting.  I didn't get a lot of their earlier shows when I was tape trading so a lot is new to me.

amazing Cornette YouTube video titles: "Jim Cornette on Weezer's Bassist's Wife Being Shot By Police"

I want to know his thoughts on being beaten by Kim Jong Il in the 95 Observer awards

Rob Feinstein: So how were Kim Jong Il's payoffs?

Old territory wrestler #4553: Good...I mean I feel like not dying a grisly death is probably the best possible payoff.

That popped up in my feed (even though I never watch anything from Cornette). What... I mean, just... what? Why? Is this Cornette mad at the police or not? Does he like or dislike Weezer? That is some of the weirdest clickbait for wrestling fans ever.

The Garrett-Dave team on WOR feels like a treat. Like the shitty teacher who just discovered sarcasm is away and in his place a sub you actually kinda like. Maybe you disagree with a few things he says, and he does seems very attached to his phone/social media, but he has no whiny dramatic rants about things that would be better spoken about with a sense of humour. Even the nerdy kid, obsessing about business metrics, who always seemed kinda annoying seems interesting when the old battle axe is gone.

Ps listening to Bryan Alvarez whine is generally worse than anything on any of the weekly prime time wrestling programs.

Hey, why bitch at Phil Mushnick when you can BE Phil Mushnick?

Loooool I’m the opposite in that I don’t mind Alvarez at all, and I find Dave and Garrett incredibly dry.  Also, they don’t give timestamps.  Finally, I can’t stand the FM radio DJ way Garrett pronounces “both” as “bowl-th.”  🤣

to be fair, Jim has been doing some form of current events talk for a long time, but they also don't regularly put the politics stuff on YouTube for reasons that probably make some form of sense

Do they ever do Sin Limite episodes with Dave and Mike anymore? Those were my favorites.

Why selective listening is better than trying to wade through the entire 3 hour show.

pretty much every podcast, at least every wrestling podcast, has a version of mission creep

Alvarez to Dave: "Let's talk about these ratings!"

Me: sprinting across the house to grab my phone off the charger to just +10 the fuck out of it

(Actually, I just switched to Apple Podcasts and I can now +10 from my watch, which rules)

Which is why I wish the episodes were timestamped that way I can skip over Jim tweaking his nipples as he rants about AEW.

no BTS next week, they'll be back in 2 weeks

so, find replacement programming for April 28th (and you gotta wait for the 90 minute long halftime segment that goes over WM41)

I just signed up for the patreon page si that works. For the first time since like 2017 I'm 100% current with BTS.
