JLowe Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Since it’s somewhat relevant to the title match coming up, I hope this is the last time AEW does a “Money in the Bank” kind of thing. It’s fine for a company built on shock booking, but otherwise is a shitty version of the Sword of Damocles looming over any world title match. 3 1

I really didn't like it when MJF was threatening to MitB the poker chip, because they'd done the poker chip gimmick before and had never hinted that it could be used that way. Nor did they give any indication that the rules had changed until after the match where MJF won it. Narrative consistency is everything, dammit! But I also agree it's just not a great plot device, at least not in 2025. It was cool when Edge cashed in the first time, but it's been done to death now. (Plus it's got some people expecting to see something at Revolution other than Mox beating Cope after Death Rider interference, and they'll bitch all the more now when that's what we get.) 2
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 I went back to watch Dynamite again and I gotta say, Hangman with the "I'm real!" was such a badass babyface moment. 6

Having a gimmick where you win a contract but need to give advance notice is good. A gimmick where you cash in to steal a title just devalues the championship. As @tbarrie mentioned, it was cool the first time it was done and fit Edge's character. 1
Matt D Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 I’d have Joe beat Christian for the contract at Revolution, have Mox beat Cope but Cope finally get the conchairto on him, and have Joe come out to end the show saying this cash in thing is bullshit and cowards but that he’d be seeing Mox at the main event of Dynasty. 4 2
Curt McGirt Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Anything that gets JOE back in the mix is my shit. He was/is a great champion and deserves more, I don't care how long he's been around. 6
Leonidas Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 The story is Cope taking out the DR before the PPV, already taken out Pac. So hopefully by the time of the match there won't be any interference. Still hoping he lets Christian cash in as a better the devil you know situation.
Technico Support Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Will we get an appearance by Beth Cope, taking out Marina?

My thought is that that's when either FTR or someone else turns & joins DR. The angle for FTR is "you abandoned us for Switchblade the first chance you got. Mox appreciates who we are and what we bring to the table." FTR then intervening in Christian's "not cash in cash in" is how you get to C&C Conchairto Music Factory vs. FTR... 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 25, 2025 Author Posted February 25, 2025 Well, looks like I forgot to set up the future publishing on next week's thread. Oh well. Continue chatting there.
