🎼 The sun shines and people forget. The spray flies as the speedboat glides, and people forget... forget they're hiding.

Another week and it's another chance for the power of Friendship to shine through!   New best friends Samoa Joe & Hook defeated The Patriarchy.  (Followed swiftly by Christian defeating Samoa Joe's head with his clipboard thingie.)  And Rated FTR-J (I guess?) used their friendship to put a hurt on the World Champ and his buddies.

🎸The girls smile and people forget.  The snow packs as the skier tracks, people forget... Forget they're hiding.

But of course, this week's big promo went to Timeless Toni Storm as she is now Timeless and not a rookie at all!  Nor was she ever, apparently?  I know 6 weeks is usually enough to get over the biggest loss of one's professional life!  But hey, May's time is up, and Toni's time is now!

💿Behind an eminence front. Eminence front, it's a put on.  It's an eminence front, it's an eminence front, it's a put on...

On tap for tonight....

(Maybe their best song in the 1980's?  Not like there's a lot to choose from there though...)

Enjoy the week

So presumably Ospreay is taking on the fifth member of the family that Callis alluded to recently? I can't think of any other reason they wouldn't just say whom he's facing.

Eminence Front! One last great momenet from Moonless latter day Who. Coach oughtta buy that one and preview Revolution with it.

Ric v Swerve should be a helluva deal. Takeshita/Fletcher v Buddy/Brody should be a barnburner. I get a sneaking suspicion the Callis Family member is either Trent or Mike Bailey. I like the idea of a heel Speedball running around with Callis. I'd also welcome a Trent Barretta v Ospreay match. Aminata v Toni Storm is a modest dream match. I hope everybody saw Toni's wonderful monologue from Collision. That and the Ric/Swerve sitdown (which they hopefully show some of) were not to be missed.

Trent is definitely a solid choice, perhaps the most likely. I like your idea of it being Bailey, who is clearly due to debut somewhere imminently.  I haven't seen info that confirms he's AEW-bound yet, but maybe I missed it.  I think another reasonable choice here is Mark Davis.

Trent. Is. Hurt. People keep asking and he fucked his neck again. In this case, he snapped the screws where he had fusion surgery.

I think we’re all aware that Trent was hurt. I havent seen an update in a long while.

I too like Big Mark getting realigned with the heels. Forgot to include that.

I mean, it sucks, a lot, but if you had fusion surgery then things aren't going to get better for you. And if you're snapping metal screws that were used for fusing bones together...it sounds like it would be time to call it a career.

Mmmm, "Eminence Front". So glossy and sleazy and arch, all at the same time. Kinda like the decade it came out of, and reading the lyrics, it's clearly about yuppies. I bet nobody who grew up with this on the radio knew the title or what they were saying in the chorus for years.

That sounds like an All Japan main event from the '90s, maybe a big RWTL match. I tried to make an apples-to-apples comparison to guys from that era but they didn't tag together, like say, Buddy/Brody could be Spivey/Furnas, but Brody is more like Dr. Death than Danny Spivey, and he only tagged with Gordy. Takeshita/Fletcher could be Footloose and Fletcher-as-Fuyuki kinda works; but it's Fuyuki so not really fair to Fletcher, haha.

My humerus is held together like that and if he did that... fuck.

Forget Spivey, Furnas/kroffatt are right there. Brody’s a furnace of sorts. Buddy is a Danny sorta. Takeshita/Fletcher is kind of a Kobashi/Akiyama if that’s not too late into the 90s of a reference. I really don’t know the earlier Footloose team quite as well. Somebody recommend a high point bout if you fancy?

I know it's a long shot, but I saw that EVIL hasn't re-signed with New Japan. Perhaps, there's a chance EVIL is Ospreay's mystery opponent.

Dude don't do us dirty like that. You know he deserves to be nothing more than the new "brother" Yasshi dragging HOT around through the indies like the Voodoo Murders.

I would be let down by Mark Davis because I don’t know why he would turn over his few weeks off TV. I would be let down by Speedball Bailey because I think he’s just kinda of a guy with a couple of moves. I asked elsewhere and people said Trent, but reading here that seems not possible.

honestly, I’m done with Don Callis for a while, and really don’t care if he has more guys.

Speedball would suuuuuuuck. That character is so low budget it belongs in MLW. TNA was perfect for him actually.

It ended up being Davis anyway, sorry JLowe

Things I Remember From This Week's Edition of AEW Dynamite:

Renee gets carried away from the fight

Realized that Moxley looks like post-wrestling Bald HHH while being booked like Reign of Terror HHH

Cope wants a match and doesn't get it

Jey White wants a tag match for Aussiemania next week

Quite a bit of Don Callis on commentary

Mark Davis gets an impassioned chant for going against Ospreay

Callis using contract law to make Davis do stuff

Harley Cameron's puppet routine is amusing

The Gunns are going after the Hurt Syndicate

MJF and Hangman stare at each other, Max Castor is in some stuff too

Dustin Rhodes cutting better promos than anybody else in this MJF/Jarrett feud

apparently all the British commonwealth people are the same if Toni can be Mariah May so easily

Cut to another camera shot of Mariah May looking mad

Oh no they let Jericho appear live, which brings out Hobbs for more Hobbs/Bill action

Fun to counter the lame-looking Swerve Stomp by just hitting him in the dick, and Ricochet beats Swerve

Congrats to Ricochet on winning that robe

Dustin vs MJF next week in Austin. The Australian show that might have been sold to AEW ala Lyle Lanley is next week.

Really good show tonight.  Hot crowd in Atlanta too.  AEW is at it's best when all the key players are on the show.  I know that sounds obvious but it's not always booked that way.  Every segment felt important and made the show a bigger deal.

Ricochet vs. Swerve definitely lived up to what I had hoped it would be.  A creative finish,  protected both men and this feud is fire.  It will continue.

- Loved Renee getting just grabbed and ran off with by Marina.

- "Dunkzilla", I don't get it. "Donkzilla" is more like it for our thicc boi Davis. I guess this was about as good as you could expect it to be. Better than Speedball Bailey showing up.

- MVP's "ass boys" crack was simple but perfect and totally took any wind they had in their sails away. Unless those are very expensive customs, he needs to get on Shelton for wearing Chucks with a suit; meanwhile Bobby looked like ten million bucks in that green outfit with the open collar. His St. Pat's suit, perhaps?

- I look at Harley and the puppet like this: It's Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys and his puppet Conky, only instead of Conky saying what Bubbles really wants to say, it's Sashapuppet saying what Harley thinks Sasha wants to say -- basically be a self-aggrantizing jerk. It better show up again, she's got a good thing going on there to get under Mone's skin. (Meanwhile, right after that I SWEAR-TO-GOD the opening piano notes of the TPB theme started off that NBA commercial. SWEAR.)

- The tag match was fine but didn't quite hit the high water mark expected. I'm wondering if the Okada theme playing was a total fuckup on their part and if they called an audible with the whole rest of the match or what. In any case there was still some good stuff here, the bit with the chairs, the exhaustion selling where both Buddy and Lard Lad dropped, all four guys are super talented, but they have an epic in them that this wasn't.

- Taz just piping up with "I never liked Jarrett" totally unwarranted was hilarious. Dustin still has more fire in his pinky than anybody else around.

- Toni-as-Mariah was CREEEEEEPY close, all she needed was a pair of falsies (which Real Mariah brought to mind on commentary). That kick/shin/facewash/whatever in the ropes from Aminata was the most brutal thing of all times and I can only imagine the arse to the face after was a big receipt. Speaking of which, cramming Toni's ass into that outfit... well lets just move on shall we?

- Ricochet/Swerve was Very Good! I somehow needlessly hoped there would be blood but we can save that for later because whoaaaaa, Ric stole Jimmy Rave's robe at the end and that is going to incite some revenge we haven't seen from Swerve in awhile. The powerbomb on the barricade was just ridiculous. Ricochet is swimming in heel waters exceptionally well and deserves nothing but praise. The only blemish on this one that I caught was the horrible Swerve kick, whatever he calls it, which from the camera angle they shot this one showed it was literally him jumping, putting his foot onto Ric and pushing off which clapping his hands. Come. The Fuck. On.

Thought this was truly a great show, especially after coming off of what I thought were two of the weaker Dynamite episodes ever. They need to blow off the Callis Family angle asap and send Don away indefinitely...but other than that I thought pretty much every segment worked.

Gunns return somehow actually felt like it meant something. I don't think Shelton and Lashley will do them dirty like they did Private Party, if for no other reason than out of respect for The One Billy Gunn.

It Jarrett is gonna be off TV awhile (maybe until the Owen??) then they really should have had Max bust him open real bad last week. But whatever, Dustin is obviously great in this role and I hope him and Max get a match out of each other worthy of that promo exchange.

My spouse is a gender studies prof and they were very amused with Taz's PSA on testosterone levels in women. Toni totally nailing all of Mariah's mannerisms and then doing an utterly wretched impression of her promo style cracked me up. I guess in my head their accents didn't seem that distinct until I heard the one impersonating the other.

Speaking of comedy, Mercedes playing Moe to Harley and Rene's Curly and Larry (or maybe she's the Chico to their Harpo and Groucho) is really funny.

I thought the actual match was the usual pure balls stuff I hate from Ospreay (though I appreciate he tried to mix up his usual routine by doing pointless limb work and Psycho Clown-levels of incessant crowd-rallying in place of actual psychology,)...buuuut in the end I was fine with this too because Davis is awesome and the crowd was so hot they actually seemed to care about his sudden heel turn. Still can't stand that Don Callis tho, and not in the way I'm supposed to not be able to stand him. Not even JR busts out ridiculous "I know my history books" nonsense like comparing guys in 2025 to Don Leo Jonathan.

Revolution is still a month away and it feels like they haven't had a ppv in forever so I'm interested to see where they go from now until then. Nothing they're doing right now feels especially hot and obviously the main event scene is receiving a lot of much deserved criticism, but they have enough pieces in play that I could see some really good programs coming together by Double or Nothing and All In.

I lold at this too. He said something similarly mean for no apparent reason years ago, I forget the context but I think it was when Cole first joined the Elite and he cast Schiavone out of the ring and called him a nerd and Taz was like "it's about time someone did this".

Filterless Taz is always fun. The bits with him and Michael Cole from WWF Byte This that they show on Botchamania are a riot. If nobody's watching -- and even if people are -- he just can't help himself when things get frustrating or he just can't help himself from saying something. I'm sure nobody who grew up watching SERIOUS BIZNESS Taz in ECW ever thought he'd end up like this.
