Dolfan in NYC Posted January 20 Posted January 20 My baby want a Birkin, she's been tellin' me all night long... Gasoline and groceries, the list goes on and on... Week 3 on the road to the Rumble and it looks like everyone is clearing off their previous feuds and starting to find their eventual dance partners for the Rumble and beyond. This 9 to 5 ain't workin', why the hell do I work so hard? I can't worry 'bout my problems, I can't take 'em when I'm gone, uh... Of course, our friends Bron Breakker and Sheamus have been off and on feuding for a month or 6 over the IC title. But will Ludvig Kaiser and his patented "Cuntiest Entrance in WWE" change things to his favor? Hmm... Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey. They know me and Jack Daniels got a history. There's a party downtown near Fifth Street... Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy! Of course, the news of last week was new champ Tiffany Stratton putting us all on Tiffy Standard Time and beating former champ Bayley in her first defense. It was a lot of people's first exposure to her and the reviews are...wowza. Let's see where they take the champ this week! And of course Saturday is a new episode of Saturday Night's Main Event! Will you watch? Or will you be Tipsy?? (Your admin contains multitudes.) Enjoy the week! 2
blitzkrieg Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Bayley officially to Raw through the transfer window and faces Nia Jax, who is on loan from Aldis. Penta also wrestling tonight. BTS Footage of Penta's debut:
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Someone link me to KO's Bret Hart jacket. That was nice 1
blitzkrieg Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Think Jey and Gunther are doing a good job getting over what is pretty much an inevitable conclusion. The backstage segments with Kofi and Xavier continue to be good with even the scummiest of the scummy not being on the same page with them. Kofi and Rey had a couple miscues but overall was a fun little match. Bit surprised that Kofi took the loss here but they did get their heat back afterward. Completely down for Del Toro/Wilde versus Kofi/Xavier. Sami is always good at the fiery babyface promo and tonight wasn't any difference. Liked KO kinda sidestepping the obvious route while also playing mind games with Sami. I'm not sure if this was better than their Summer Slam match but overall this was a fine good match between Bayley and Nia. It also solved one of my main complaint about Bayley matches which is that the limb work doesn't actually factor into the match. They also didn't go too over ambitious in the match which was the problem with their Bad Blood match. Bayley busting out her own Annihilator was cute. Little surprised that Nia beat Bayley on her first night on Raw but Nia kinda needed it for her match with Rhea and who doesn't love a good Bayley comeback story? Also liked Roxanne and Bayley slowly building. Love the pyro for Penta's entance. Liked the story of every time Penta took control he got cocky and Pete took advantage of it. Pete made the Sacrifice look nasty. Two for two on them presenting Penta as a big deal. Will be interesting where things go with Gable learning the dark arts of lucha libre. Great promo by Punk which fit a lot of stuff in a small package. Loved the unexpected jab at Sami not being on his level. Loved even more Punk destroying Hogan. Zoey Stark tried to murder Dakota with the springboard dropkick. Wasn't crazy about Kai getting so little offense in after being in the IC Tourney Finals last week. Match was just kinda okay but it is great to see how over Iyo is. Really good Seth and Drew match as the main event. I feel like Seth has been reigning in some of his worst habits lately and Drew really doesn't put on anything but good matches. Probably one of the best things about the move to Netflix is being able to hear stuff in the ring better and Drew and Seth really used that to their advantage jawing at each other. Liked the flash pin victory for Seth and Drew going from saying they should be on the same side to attempted homicide. Maybe Sami really should retire the Helluva Kick and go with the Blue Thunder Bomb considering how often he hits the wrong person with it. Probably the best episode of the short Netflix era. All the matches got ample time, there wasn't an over abundance of talking, and the shows continue to not feel long. Seth/Drew was probably the match of the show but I give a lot of love to Bayley/Nia. 2
username Posted January 21 Posted January 21 That Zoey Stark springboard dropkick was a thing of beauty. I am unsure how Rey and Kofi blew that powerbomb spot outside the ring like that. 1
Eivion Posted January 21 Posted January 21 They Jey/Gunther opening was good. It's nice to see them bringing some decent heat to this match despite the obvious conclusion. Kofi/Rey was rough at moments with a heel Kofi clearly still getting used to being heel. Still, I thought the two were game and mostly adjusted well to the off moments, and they noticeably never lost the crowd. Pretty solid match. Zayn's promo to declare for the Royal Rumble was nice. KO coming down to buddy up and clearly look for his help with Cody was even better. Curious to see where it goes. Bayley/Nia was good. Kind of like how the two always try out some new stuff against each other even if it doesn't always go well. It keeps their matches decently fresh, and they mostly work well together. Normally would think Baylety should have won given her recent loss to Tiffany and move to Raw, but the post match brawl between Nia and Rhea made it obvious why that didn't happen. I like them doing Rhea/Nia for SNME. It makes sense of last week's segment and the reactions to their faceoffs have been good. I only wish it wasn't retreading old ground. Feels weird they haven't pushed Tiffany vs. Nia all that much yet. Penta/Dunne was a good showcase for both guys. Thought Penta came out looking better here with him and Dunne clearly having good chemistry and knowing each other better than Penta and Gable do. Io/Dakota vs. Shayna/Zoey made the most of their time and put together something nice and solid. Honestly, it was nice to see them managing a decent reaction from the crowd as it went on. Still, feels like it's time to either admit PFC isn't working and separate the group or move them to Smackdown. Drew/Seth was good with plenty of nice action and good reactions from the crowd. Kind of liked the flash pin finish. Thought the post match stuff with Sami making the save until the accidental kick to Seth was decent enough. Bayley/Nia & Rey/Kofi were the highlights for me, but everything here was pretty fun and worth a catch. The segment side was surprisingly nice here with nothing really noticeably overstaying its welcome for me and plenty of nice build for SNME and the Rumble. Good show. 2
Gorman Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I told my daughter that Penta was coming on, and she came out to watch the match with me. We were surprised that they quickly cut to a commercial for ... the show we were already watching. She made a good point that on Peacock, you can watch a few minutes of commercials before enjoying an entire movie uninterrupted. After Penta won, her least favorite wrestler, Logan Paul, came on the screen. Logan: "It must suck to be a Logan Paul hater." Daughter (turning him off): "Nope, I'm livin' it up!" 2

Has Zoey Stark faced Ivy Nyle yet? Last time I was watching a coupleof years ago, I was really looking forward to that match and never got it, as of then.
Greggulator Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Nia Jax is so friggin’ good. She’s such a great bully and has become so good at little things to get heat (side eye glances to the crowd, etc.) and does a really great job of looking surprised and overwhelmed when her opponent is fighting back. She and Bayley have had great work together even going all the way back to NXT. KO being a manipulative bastard playing on Sami’s good side was perfect. I loved Sami saying “How do you want to do this?” in terms of then about to throw fists. But instead KO figured out exactly how to pull on Sami’s strings. I’m always down for Sami and KO to do battle or work together. 3
Ziggy Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I haven't watched Raw consistently in full since 2014 uptill the Netflix move. The last 2 weeks the flow of the show has been nice even though there are some annoying things about the booking in this new regime. The Sami Zayn and Owens thing should be interesting. Now they pretty much reward you for paying attention and they don't ignore the past so I think what ever they are leading to should be cool. Before this new regime , I would have been fine if Owens and Zayn never feuded again because we've seen both guys turn on each other and get back together. I hope they have Penta wrestling every week on Raw. He's the reason I still watching it live every week. The men's Royal Rumble is very stacked but it seems the women's Royal Rumble is going to be more built on surprises . A few people complained about how they haven't seem to be building up the Women's Rumble. I like how they are approaching one Rumble with a ton of guys already declaring to be in and the other i guess we'll see if Alexa or Asuka return then or if we'll see Jordyn Grace back. I think Bayley is a good addition to Raw but I didn't think they should have had her against someone she came from Smackdown with.

Curt McGirt Posted January 21 Posted January 21 2 hours ago, WebConn89 said: It’s an awesome looking move. I wonder what name they'll come up with. Probably the easiest thing past a springboard missile dropkick (which is long) would be calling it a Rider Kick but nobody stateside would get the reference.
TheVileOne Posted January 21 Posted January 21 If WWE wants to continue using the transfer window, WWE needs to give it an actual deadline and establish its rules and how it works. They are supposed to have a WWE Draft in a few months, but it seems they are just moving guys whenever they want. Another sign that it's time to end the brand split. WWE clearly is hindered by the brand split but they are also still heavily reliant upon it and don't know how to get rid of it. I don't get why you move Bayley to Raw only to face a SmackDown star. If you need Nia Jax on Raw to face Rhea Ripley, then why not move Nia Jax to Raw as well? The Wyatt Sicks after all that get moved to SmackDown and have all but vanished without a trace. Triple H isn't good at the hokey 1980s and 1990s wrestling gimmicks.

odessasteps Posted January 21 Posted January 21 When I saw Kriz compare that dropkick to Koko, I knew it must-have been good.

She has already been using it for years. This one just looked particularly great. Also isn't there already a Rider Kick in wrestling? Like joshi specifically?

Curt McGirt Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Great Sasuke did the Rider Kick. It was lifted from Kamen Rider. Spoiler IIRC, unfailingly he would wind up landing on the back of his head on the floor doing it. 2
Tromatagon Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The Sasuke style Rider kick is in Firepro, guys. Fuck. Loved the pyro change for Penta. Muta used to have that specific pyro in Japan, but maybe not as fucking nuclear blast level though. I watch the live show until Penta wrestles and when his match is done I stop watching. They're going to have to put him in the main if they want me to watch the full show. 2 2
Peck Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I'll post this now solely for the back-to-back Funker avatars but I will just say that Sami Zayn is the only performer in the company that continuously gets me emotionally invested in his storylines/promos. 2
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 21 Posted January 21 It was the best RAW on Netflix to date. Penta/Butch, Bayley/Nia and Rollins/Drew all delivered in the ring and they advanced some stories headed into SNME
DMN Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Motion to rename Pure Fusion Collective to The Stud Stable. 1
blitzkrieg Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Enjoyed Ridge/Tony as I think Ridge has to be one of the most improved of '24. Like a lot of his matches he controlled the match and looked really good doing it. Hopefully they finally align Ridge with Spears because post-Chase U he's been pretty aimless and could use some direction. Bayley's promo came off as heartfelt and the mutual love society between her and Giulia was nice. I feel like I need to roll back to the Dom-era to see if even he got boo'ed as loudly as Cora and Roxanne did. I like the carry over from last week with using the PIP break to show the continuing brawl between the four of them and look forward to the tag match next week. Like them giving Dion some shine to develop some personality. Loved the hand print on Wes's face from Trick's slap. Dion looked great athletically and Wes bumped great for him. Good mix of rookie fire and veteran wiles. All business Trick has a nice edge to him that glad handing Trick didn't. Appreciated getting PIP for all of the Heritage Cup match. This might be my favorite of the matches the two of them have had. Dempsey always looks so smooth in the ring and Lexis held his own with him. Liked the swerve of teasing the brass knuckles in the bucket only for it to be an intentional low blow by Lexis getting the win. That said I rather see Dempsey get to do something that wasn't the Heritage Cup match. Least he had a fun match against Gable on Speed last week. Liked using the relationship between Ashante and Karmen to set up the match between Karmen and Jaida. Thought the match was better than I expected and it's nice to see Jaida continue to act moves to her repertoire and Karmen find new ways to work her kicks into matches. I feel like 90% of Jaida's losses are the result of her going for the Hipnotic only for get distracted because someone jumped on the apron. But I will always support love winning. The Family vs. Niko/Brooks was a fun little match. Niko didn't do a whole lot in the match but everything he did had intensity. Nice to see Spears crew finally pick up a win. I assume the long game is that Izzy is going to sow dissension in The Family to allow Spears group to get the North American title. Evil Eddy feels so much more natural than Babyface DJ Eddy ever did. I thought he looked really good tonight against Oba and hopefully they keep having him work his way into situations because he's been money so far. The end of the show seemed to be a tease for a potential Vengeance Day rematch. I feel like NXT has really found their groove on The CW. They fit so much into the show that I honestly get worried that they're trying to do much but it works every week. Really stacked show next week. 4
