This, btw, officially ends Fubo's anti-trust lawsuit against Disney, Warner Discovery, and Fox over the shelved Venue Sports streaming service. Disney basically squashed an anti-trust claim by becoming majority stakeholder in the plaintiff. Yay? 2

RIPPA Posted May 14, 2025 Posted May 14, 2025 From the "you can't make this shit up" department Warner Brothers has announced that Max will go back to being HBO Max 5

(And actually personally, a friend of a friend who worked at HBO confirmed to me.) At least the social medial team is "having fun" with it: It's basically their only chance to obliquely tell their boss to fuck himself. So, good for them.
RIPPA Posted May 16, 2025 Posted May 16, 2025 I will put this here for lack of a better place Charter Communications and Cox Communications are merging It is a merger of the 2nd and 3rd largest US Cable companies (and technically its Charter acquiring Cox) They will use the Cox Communications name for the company however will use the Spectrum as the brand name for the service folks get (basically anyone currently with Cox will switch to Spectrum and its pricing structure)
Contentious C Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 They should rename HBO Max to "TOO LATE TO WASH AWAY THE STINK OF GARBAGE", just for something actually new that isn't any less dumb than changing the name back.
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 4, 2025 Author Posted June 4, 2025 The shareholders of WBD have symbolically voted against David Zaslav's compensation package. Normally this would lead to the executive's resignation, but... Well it's Zaslav, which means he's he's probably burning master films of Porky Pig as retaliation. 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 So they are basically paying him nothing. Why would you stay? I mean, besides burning master tapes of Porky Pig

It really is a strictly symbolic vote, the shareholders merely "advise" the board. 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 (edited) I was under the impression however that the shareholders are why a lot of these companies make their decisions -- based upon what they want, they will change their minds or go a certain path. We always say shit like that. Despite it just being an advisory vote, if they dislike him that much, couldn't they just take their shares out and go invest in MAX or something? I mean, if they are as scared as they always seem to be of that, it might force the company's hand. Edited June 5, 2025 by Curt McGirt
