RIPPA Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 The NFL has fined the Falcons $250K and DC Jeff Ulbrich $100K for "failing to prevent the disclosure of confidential information distributed to the club in advance of the NFL Draft.”
Log Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 I legitimately feel bad for Sanders with the whole prank call thing. But, I also keep picturing it being like the scene in Anchorman where they prank call Veronica from Ron's office, and that makes me laugh. 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Abdul Carter said in an interview that he also got a prank call where was told Jacksonville had just traded up to select him. Next year, someone will be SWAT'ed. Mark my words.

Kevin Wilson Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 The only issue I have with the fine, which is deserved, is prank calls have been happening to NFL draftees for a long time. Hell it happened to others in the 2025 draft. Is the NFL doing the same effort to track down how they happened so they can hold all people responsible or are they only going after this one case because it happens to be Sanders? It should be a universal policy/investigation in all situations, not just because it happened to the most well known player. 1

The NFL said they are investigating the other phone calls Apparently the Sanders one was the only one that involved Ullbrich

They're investigating it because the prank caller posted it on TikTok and IG and gave the NFL a PR black eye. They tend to (and should) respond severely to this sort of thing. I'm a little surprised they didn't ban him from future NFL-related activities.

I imagine most of those other pranks don't have anything to do with NFL teams. They can't stop random assholes from pulling pranks during the draft, but they can and should put their foot down when it comes to their employees and their families pranking people during the draft. I can't imagine costing my parents six figures because I was trying to be funny, but the NFL is 100% in the right here.

Brian Fowler Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 From what I've seen, the list from just this year includes Tyler Warren, Abdul Carter, Mason Graham, Kyle McCord, and Sanders. Although the other big difference is that three of them went in the top fifteen, two in the top five at the exact spot most people projected them to (although a different team for Graham) and McCord went more or less in the range he was expected to. Because of how much lower Sanders went than he expected, it feels a hell of a lot meaner than the others. Like, Carter got pranked, figured it out while still on the phone, and then got drafted the next pick anyway. Less harm done.
