I actually had the Ordinary People/Raging Bull debate with a friend last week, since he said it wasn’t fair to put it in the same category as DWW/Goodfellsa and Gump/Pulp Fiction.

Also. The Sting is such a great movie.

Beating Scorsese and Lynch is stomach-churning, but I guess the silver lining is they didn’t give it to Polanski.

RIP Sergio Salvati, cinematographer of the legendary Fulci zombie quadrilogy and many of his other films, and a legion of trash like Puppet Master (! surprised to find this out), 1990: The Bronx Warriors, Cellar Dweller, Ghoulies II, Spellcaster, Operation Nam/Cobra Mission has passed away. He was work-for-hire but an incredible hand, as anyone who's watched those great Fulci films can see -- and he did Four of the Apocalypse, even.

Fulci was a talent, but he feels to me like one of those directors whose movies live and die based on who they have as a DP.
I still have to see The Black Cat.

I recall as it being alright but I had to leave because when I went to see it in the theater (yes, the theater) I had just had surgery and my arm started actually leaking fluids (ugh)

Dont think id have had Ordinary People down as Mike Wilbons favorite movie of all time but he apparently said it on PTI.

The only time I've seen Ordinary People was over two days for class called "Family Living" in '87. It was around the same time that almost the entire honor roll of a high school in New Jersey committed suicide by car exhaust asphyxiation.

Yes, sometime in early(Feb-Apr) '87 it made national news and teen suicide was at the forefront of happenings. Turns out it was March. Story here

Whew. I couldn't see all the article from the blocker but they never gave a reason? That's wild.

That was around the time of the Ozzy and Priest suicides I believe, so yeah, definitely in the news.

From my friend Keith

RIP to legendary Italian poster movie poster artist Renato Cesaro. Video stores made millions off his lurid better-than-the-movie artwork, and to this day my shelves are FULL of his work in one form or another. Amazing how many genres for which he was the definitive artist.

It's a shame that Looking for Mr. Goodbar took so long to get a physical release post-VHS because it's such a tremendous picture, and she was so brave taking that part. Most actors would have probably just heard about the character and ran screaming but she jumped in feet-first and capped it off in a way that I KNOW at least 75% of them would not be down with happening to them. You can grab it here: https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products/looking-for-mr-goodbar

RIP Ed Williams, the character actor who played lab scientist Ted Olsen in "Police Squad" and the original "Naked Gun" trilogy. He died earlier this month at 98.
