Tabe Posted January 20 Posted January 20 The vibe on Reddit, among other places, is trending towards "good riddance" in regard to Johnson from a lot of fans. The horrific 3rd & 1 call (where Goff fumbled) and the JaMo interception call soured a whole lot of people on him. Not sure I feel that strongly but... sometimes it's ok to just hand the ball to your RB averaging 9 yards a carry. 1

As a Bills fan that has to listen to Bills' fan foolish after every loss I can completely relate, but I do think saying "good riddance" to a coach that has done so well based off a couple calls that didn't go their way is silly. A call is always bad if it fails and amazing if it works. Not that I feel bad for him if some fans think that way, its part of the job description, but I think once things settle down and time passes he will be missed. Bills fans were all excited about Daboll leaving, then they got Ken Dorsey, the grass isn't always greener. 2 1
RIPPA Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Considering the official NFL Twitter account posted it - I would say it’s happening
dogwelder Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I eagerly await Ben Johnson benching Caleb for Sam Howell 1

I think Detroit is stacked enough on offense that I could call the plays and they'd score 27. They'll be fine.
Craig H Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Holy shit! The Bears actually made 1 and potentially 2 good, intelligent hires?! What in the fuck?!?! 1

Yet you’re seemingly blaming him for the teams number two receiver being a complete moron and throwing a pick instead of just throwing the ball away.
Cobra Commander Posted January 21 Posted January 21 meanwhile the Notre Dame DC is probably on his way to the Bengals, was announced as soon as the NCG ended
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The Jets are interviewing Aaron Glenn today and Rapaport is practically erect when he delivered the news. "He may be the new head coach by the end of the day." So... a DC who has never coached a top 10 defense... Awesome. Good luck Aaron!
hammerva Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Well for everyone that tells us how great a coach that Dan Campbell is, next year will be first real test of that without Johnson and Glenn

That's what happens when your team is a complete dumpster fire, you can't attract a top level coach available and just have to hope for the best with someone eager but under normal circumstances wouldn't be your top pick. Nothing against Glenn but obviously I hope he does poorly since its the Jets. 2

I'm blaming him for putting the receiver in that position in the first place, absolutely. 2

I will never blame the non-quarterback's bad quarterbacking decisions. Most good quarterbacks make multiple questionable throws every single game, the receiver who may never throw another pass in his career can't be held to the same standard. 1
Brian Fowler Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Everyone welcome Josh McDaniels back to the only job he's ever succeeded at. 1 1
RIPPA Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Bucs OC Liam Coen has withdrawn from the Jags HC search of which he was a finalist He will stay in Tampa on a new contract that will make him one of the highest paid assistants in the league
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Ben Johnson is bringing OL coach Hank Fraley along with him to Chicago. Fraley will be the new Offensive Coordinator. 1
Craig H Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This is so fucking weird to see the Bears making good hires. Now they just need better draft picks. Not the pick numbers, but the players they're drafting. I'm going to miss Al Golden at ND, but him going back to the Bengals is practically a lock unless he has some kind of 11th hour change of heart and stays here.

Some folks make better coordinators than head coaches. McDaniels is one of many that fall into this category. Tom Brady has given Josh a lot of credit for the development in his career. Mac Jones rookie year was fairly solid with McDaniels as OC, then went to shit when the Raiders backed up the Brinks truck for Josh. I think he's going to be a very good asset in Drake Maye's development as well.
BobbyWhioux Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Having your coordinators poached is how you know you’ve made it And if The Jets poach them you’ll be able to have them back in 3 years anyway so don’t worry 2 2
RIPPA Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 It appears that the Raiders are hiring Bucs assistant GM John Spytek to be their GM

Dewar Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Only one Aaron allowed in the dressing room. Time for the sunken-eyed pillhead to leave.
