dogwelder Posted May 21 Posted May 21 So it turns out that the NFL asked the Packers basically to be the fall guy and propose the tush push ban...

Among the teams that voted with Philly, are Baltimore, NE, Detroit, and NY (AFC). AND SPEAKING OF THE BILLS.... Apparently they were one of the teams who were pushing the hardest to ban the Push. And they may be most responsible for it staying, because all 3 AFC East teams voted against the ban. 2

The Bills and Eagles over the last three years have combined to run the tush push more often than the other thirty teams in the NFL combined. They are far and away the two teams that use it the most, and the best. 1

Yeah in the story about tempers flaring at the meeting it was mentioned that Bills owner Terry Pegula acknowledged that his team was good at the play but he still wanted it banned (there was no follow-up explanation as why though) But yeah - apparently Jeffrey Lurie pissed everyone off by talking too long and for the language he used https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45254735/sources-tempers-flare-eagles-defend-tush-push-heated-debate And side note - again for reasons not explained, Jason Kelce was brought in to discuss the tush push in more details for a players perspective which lead to owners being all HOLY SHIT! MAYBE WE SHOULD TALK TO PLAYERS MORE! Quote Multiple sources noted to Pryor that it was refreshing to hear about a rule and its impact from a player's perspective, and it could lead to more players weighing in on significant potential rule changes. 1
Tabe Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Kelce was brought in to dispel the notion that the play is unsafe for linemen. He's saying it has nothing to do with his retirement but I could swear he said differently previously.

DangerMark Posted May 22 Posted May 22 That's only marginally better. Says Mark, who prefers "that fucken Philly play" or "some Ol' Timey Football"

There's a school of thought that offensive lineman get concussed on literally every play. While I'm sure "Funny Man With Big Beard Like Points" was compelling. I'm not necessarily sure that the player's voices are ... the best?

There's your answer: TERRY PEGULA IS THE BIGGEST MOST INCOMPETENT FUCKING MORON CLOWN OF AN OWNER IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS. FUCK YOU TERRY YOU MISERABLE STUPID FUCKING CLOWN.

As funny as it is when the lineman practically carry Josh, it's not like he usually needs the help.

Perhaps players or ex players are not the best placed to know what's best for players but if there's a group of people less interested in such things, it would be the owners. 3
BobbyWhioux Posted May 26 Posted May 26 All forms of pushing the runner forward should be re-included in the assisting the runner penalty. but oh no, gotta increase scoring by all means possible… 2
