Not sure where to put this but according to TMZ Mark Sanchez was stabbed in Indianapolis last night and is currently in the hospital.  He was supposed to call the Colts game tomorrow

So Clay Travis claimed today that Paul Finebaum was banned from appearing on ESPN after announcing he was thinking about running for office.

Someone also said they confirmed Travis's report (I can't find it at the moment who the second story was)

ESPN has vehemently denied this (it also should be noted they ran the story about Finebaum running on their website for at least a day)

Finebaum did appear on the SEC Network this weekend (which is owned by ESPN) but didn't appear on the main channel

Travis also jumped on the fact that Stephen A Smith is allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants (which SAS' contract allows)

So yeah... as per usual... ESPN created their own mess in many ways

FWIW, through the haze of being hospitalized I'm pretty sure I saw Finebaum on Get Up at least one morning this week.

It looks like Dan Lebatard staple Billy Gill is leaving the show as it was announced this morning.  I would assume it is to work with Stugotz more but he was doing other things like working with Florida International I think on games.

The last year of this show has really not been a great one for them with so many people either leaving to just only showing up once every two weeks.  And replacing it was more Zaslow who is extremely annoying character and more Greg Cote who never met a moment to put himself over

I don't understand this You Tube TV and ESPN issue but it does make me glad I was too lazy/cheap to get the product.

Disney (and all networks) regularly renew contracts to have carriers broadcast their stuff.  Disney says more money pls 🤑 , Google says no pls we're broke 😞

You are now caught up on the issue.

Happens a lot with local cable systems, too. I know my in-laws in Indy were without CBS for quite a while because their cable company and the network couldn't come to terms.

This one sucks because our morning routine is Sportscenter on YouTube TV. Hoping they clear it up quickly.

I imagine YouTube will cave soon enough.  ESPN's entire business model is "we have sports, more people watch sports than anything else, and you'll pay our price no matter how absurd it is."  Everybody has eventually caved and paid the price going back to the 1970s.  Seriously, ESPN is historically Disney's biggest money maker, because of their absurd subscription prices.

The tin foil hat types (and in this case I might be one of them) believe Disney/ESPN are intentionally doing this to drive people to the new ESPN app

I do think we are eventually heading towards a bit of a reckoning where ESPN is so expensive to carry that one of the broadcasters is gonna just decide they simply can't (this is not a new thought, people have been worried about it for ages). Add in the new app which reasonable conspiracies aside adds in all sorts of other complications and I wouldn't be shocked if google is the first to take a shot at it.

It isnt helping ESPN  argument for this when almost everyone is on social media and/or TV almost begging you not to blame them in this

You can absolutely blame them for this.  ESPN's price is high because they have sports and sports are the most watched television product.  If you want to have a television service, your success is probably directly related to your access to live sports.  Sports are expensive and if I'm ESPN, I'm not giving any discounts.  They pay billions of dollars for the right to show all of those sports, they absolutely can charge premium prices for their service.

I presume this should also go in the football thread, but RIP Bob Trumpy. We seem to always get Criqui and Trumpy on AFC games growing up. I don’t remember if they were the #2 team behind Enberg and Merlin or not,but it seemed that way,

Him mistakenly lining up on the wrong side of a formation and subsequently running to the other side before the ball was snapped is what created presnap motion in the NFL.

To follow up on a story from a month ago - while not being directly announced as such - FOX has hired Drew Brees to be Mark Sanchez's replacement

Brees - who will start next week - will be paired with Adam Amin, who had previously been paired with Sanchez

I could have sworn we had a sports books thread.  It's too early though.

Anyway

Oh hell yeah
