New Japan's Aaron Wolf was featured in a segment on the Japanese news program Hodo Station. Wolf was given tips on his rope work by Yuji Nagata. The other person there was Shuzo Matsuoka who was a former pro tennis player and until the arrival of Kei Nishikori, Japan's most well-known men's pro tennis player.

The Internet has been totally normal about that whole Tanahashi Jam show.

It's only because of the title change. If it was just a show (and technically this was a Tanahashi produce show) and it was only shown live on a channel that only some people in Japan could see it would have been fine (relatively speaking). But because people will apparently explode if they can't everything rightnowgiveitomerightnow the reaction was overblown.

There were a few articles written in the Japanese media about how NJPW World subscribers were upset but I doubt it was massive numbers. It wasn't the first time a show was a TV Asahi CS exclusive (the SANADA title win) but the key was that show was available for overseas viewers (which I would think be more infuriating to Japanese viewers). But people are also missing the fact that not every NJPW fan subscribes to World.

I'm sure that the title change will be on the regular Asahi Saturday night show in the next week or two.

Yeah the excitement those of us that remember the analog world got for searching and getting footage after a while doesn't work for modern audiences sadly. It was fun for me to look around for...granted it only took me 6 hours instead of six months.

The belts are finally getting replaced. They're too old and worn out now. I predicted this several years ago on the shitty vow boards.

I hope they are coloured coded like the rest. But probably will be black straps maybe. May end up be indy looking or not, they don't have NJPW or NOAHs budget.

Has anyone, like, seen a Zero One match in the last decade?

I have. But I dropped off mostly when Kawada lost the title.

Business Tag Team are the 100th World champions, so they will be the last to hold those old belts above. Also having chains on belts have faded away over time in AJP, maybe another pair with those gone.

There is only gonna be one pair of belts.

Kawada retired 15 years ago my dude.

I meant his run in Zero 1. In my sentence  "dropped off mostly" so sometimes I check them out after their multiple restarts.

And he never had a real retirement.

Honestly, Jun Kasai is a bit of a marvel

-still wrestling at 50, despite decades of death match wrestling

-still putting on quality performances, even in singles matches

-still wrestling death matches in front of like 400 people

I love that his description of death matches and their meaning/importance has me pulling out some of my old philosophy textbooks.

I also appreciate how he sometimes just shows up in a promotion's results.  I'm seeing him in a Battlarts lineup right now.

Speaking of Jun Kasai, his son, Hinata Kasai, was just introduced as a new rookie in DDT.

I was wondering when one of his kids would end up giving wrestling a try. I know he has taken them to shows before.

My first encounter with Jun Kasai was in Zero-One, where he was in a comedy tag team with Don Arakawa. Kasai was called  “Crazy Monkey” wore a tail, and ate bananas through the match. Arakawa would lead him to the ring on a leash. I was baffled when I learned the dude was a death match wrestler.
