Ozawa defeated Masa and retained the GHC HW. Masa is quite the etty of NOAH hw's. Kenta vs Ozawa is next at sumo hall for the GHC HW.

Tetsuya Endo defeated old man Takashi Sugiura, so Sugiura is eliminated from the GHC National tournament.

Jun retained the Triple Crown and defeated Kento. Kento isn't much of the guy anymore. Jun Saito considers himself the face of AJPW, but i dont agree. Its just his usual boasting.

It will be a while before Yuma Anzai is certainly the locked on ace. I shifted Yuma Aoyagi downwards.

Shingo beat Tanahashi, Shingo broke the tied record so its 2-1.

The Naito is "freelance" stuff is weird. Probably an angle.

I haven't watched the match yet, but Clark Connors talking about how he's going to murder El Desperado is the funniest thing.  I think he said he's going to fucking kill him at least 4 times in this one video package.  Hopefully Despe said the same thing in Japanese.

I dunno if Gotoh wins, i guess Shota loses so they build him up by building him down, and make people slowly feel bad for him when he loses alot and do heckin yummy wummy underdog crap some may like.

I will be rooting for Shota to win, the actual soon to be real ace of NJPW. You all will be getting what you are getting, if not in the now times then someday in the near future, and you will enjoy it!  Hahahhahhahhhaahah.

Looking at the lay of the land, clearly the most sensible way to get Shota over is to have him fall short over and over again until he is the new Gotoh 15 years from now.

I dunno really. Ozawa singles matches i guess if you like him. But he is the least conventional NOAH type of wrestler ever. And I personally don't like him.

Anyways Galendo won the vacant GHC National title.

I like 90s Puroresu the most, and that's what the industry should had stayed as. 80s is good. 70s not my super fave but better than 50s and 60s. In hindsight 00s is ok but has this darkness around it.

2010s are ok, but many older western Puroresu fans never liked it the most. It's also the least "traditonal" era for NJPW.

Some people on the defunct Puroresufans never liked the flamboyant rock star looks or the downsizing of size of the wrestlers which also happended in other companies, or the futher ongoing homogeneous company styles with only slight differences. Some didn't like the downplaying of the Strong Style in NJPW.

In Japan some showa fans only stuck with showa wrestling. And way more watched AJPW 80s compared to AJPW 90s. NJPW in the 90s was the bigger fed.

Even Suda the video game director prefers the muddy days of old showa wres.

Some heisei era wrestling fans of NJPW didn't like the direction of 00's inoki-Ism era Japan, so the attendances went down. However, the shows still did better with tv ratings compared to the Yukes and up era of NJPW. Anyway most fans drop off, so you create new fans over time or take other promotions fans sometimes.

Jeff Cobb leaves NJPW. IWGP Tag Team Championship to be vacated.

How in the hell did they put themselves in that position? And only like a month after the exact same bullshit that happened with NOAH?????????????

WTF???????????????

The AJPW Champion Carnival is ongoing, i didn't see any info building up what they are gonna do online, but that seems to be in the past for Tokyo Sports.

Gotoh vs Nagata was a modern return to those days of two guys with shoot kicks in the same IWGP (World) heavyweight main event match. Another rehab for men who kick or can kick and able to win the top belt like Kota did.

Gedo's presentation of 'Wrestlers are the strongest' in hindsight in the 2010 was probably more pro wrestler and flashy wrestler types going over the likes of Shibata, Suzuki, Gotoh and more. Sorta inverted compared to NJPW 90s way.

The revived All Asia Heavyweight Championship ended up being useless to some fans.

AJPW retired their old junior belt and created another in the same 80s decade. The old retired one was activated again and for other promtions.

The PWF, UN were only sorta unified pre Triple Crown merge. They came in the bundle before unification.

Naito isn't so much of a surprise with the recent rumblings. I'm sure he'll get a good run with NOAH or AJPW (I'd say NOAH/DDT as Cyberfight I think are the only ones who could afford him) as I don't see him going to the US long term.

His eye and knees are pretty much done though so I do really wonder how much time he really has left.

No feelings about BUSHI.

There might be some mistranslating going on but I've seen it stated that Naito wanted to work more than NJ were prepared to offer - sounds like maybe they wanted to shift him to more of a Puro Grandad deal and he wasn't willing

I guess there's probably a difference of opinion over whether they could still justify paying him like a main eventer given his clear deterioration - but at the same time he sells tickets & merch like nobody else

Ultimately again it comes down to them not planning ahead properly. Okada & Naito both going out without putting over the next generation is disastrous

I have doubts TK would use Naito given how bad his showings at Forbidden Door have been, but I'd like to see him at the Arena Mexico show on the 18th, perhaps a tag match with BUSHI vs Bandido and Gravity, and then a Forbidden Door match vs Bandido for the ROH belt would be a nice sending off.

Bandido has shown with the Jericho feud he can carry washed-up vets.
