MOTYC alert:

Spoiler

Naoya Nomura vs Yuma Aoyagi in the first round of the Royal Road Cup was, if you can believe it, absolutely fucking awesome.

Hopefully they meet again in the new year, preferably with the Triple Crown on the line...

Honestly, cannot believe Abdullah Kobayashi is still kickin around.

Getting a ***3/4 triple crown match out of Kobayashi is actually one of Miyahara's more significant career achievements (and that was like a decade ago)

I mean the good news is for him, the fatter and slower he gets, the more authentic his tribute is to Abby.

Oudou Tournament

Semi Finals: Ren Ayabe vs. Ryuki Honda and Kento Miyahra vs. Daisuke Sekimoto.  I'm rooting for Ren.

21-year-old AJPW rookie Taishin Nagao has died. He was somehow run over by the AllJapan tour bus on May 31st.

Really hope we get the full story some day.

Totally gutted about Nagao. He was ridiculously talented, maybe even ahead of Daiki Odashima in terms of his fire and charisma. The whole story and All Japan's efforts to keep his condition under wraps are so sad and sleazy. Gotta be a new contender for the all-time strongest body of work/fewest matches wrestled ratio.

Also Ren Ayabe is definitely winning the Oudou right? He pinned the champ clean in the first round and since the end of August has racked up pinfall victories over Honda, Talos, and now Xyon (in what was a surprisingly great, if ugly, quarterfinal match). Unlike Miyahara and Honda, he hasn't had a title shot at Jun yet. Sekimoto is a possibility but he's looked (understandably) really limited since coming back from that nasty injury so I don't see him being up for a TC match with Jun, unless he's gonna go all-out in the finals and surprise me. Seems to me like Ayabe is winning and maybe even taking the title too, or else he loses in the semis or the final and gets the next title shot after Jun vanquishes the Oudou winner...

They should make the Oudou tournament more prestigious by having the winner challenge at the Dec 31 Sumo Hall show every year, a la the Royal Rumble/WrestleMania, G1/WrestleKingdom dynamic. It would make the Dec 31 show feel like more of a big deal too as you'd have the annual September-to-December long build.

Might as well have Kento take the Triple Crown off Jun. Still I'm kinda sick of Kento. Maybe long run for Kento and then drop it to Yuma Anzai?

Yeah I'm guessing Kento is definitely winning the belt. May as well have him beat Anzai on Dec 31 since it will draw a house and then do a long build to Anzai eventually rebuilding himself and beating Kento.

That'll be good.

I was right again, Kento Miyahara beat Jun Saito.

Anyways Sekimoto and Tamura a tag team now. So are the Yumas. Ryuki Honda and Naoya Nomura  are together.

 NOAH

The 2025 N-1 Victory winner is Masa Kitamiya, this is his first time winning it. He will face Kenta for the GHC HW.

Also Minoru Suzuki vs Kazuyuki Fujita in NOAH.
